Guerrilla Games has hotly defended its infamous Killzone 2 E3 2005 trailer by saying it served a purpose and was not intended simply to build hype.

The developer responded to "false" accusations on the "Ask a Dev thread" on the US PlayStation boards, suggesting Sony PR had confused things at the time.

"The E3 2005 trailer was not false. One confused Sony rep claimed it was a movie from the game engine - one guy blitzed out of his mind on fatigue, jet-lag and the madness that is E3. One guy not at all affiliated with Guerrilla Games - probably with a head full of 30 different titles," said "EON", a member of Guerrilla Games.

"Everyone else named the E3 2005 video for what it was - a target render of what we thought would be possible on the PS3. Something we would be aiming for. Then, during E3 2007, in front of the majority of the gaming journalist press, we released a trailer of Pre-Alpha code running and demonstrated a playable Killzone 2 that stunned the industry."

So one Sony, who had nothing to do with the game and obviously didnt know said he though it was game engine. Not Guerrilla and not Sony as a company. Can we drop that now please and stop acting like KZ2 is the only game to ever have a CGI trailer.

Reminds me an awful lot of how they were talking about "Too Human" being this godly game, and we all know how that turned out.

It's nice to hear another positive preview. I can only take it that the game will continue to improve with the around 6 months left till release. I'm glad that Gameplayer didn't go on and on about how it's not 'innovating'. Very few FPS's are and I hate when they place it all on Killzone 2 to do something wildly new. People just want games like Call of Duty 5 to be good. That's all gamers should be concerned about unless a developer is claiming innovation. What Killzone 2 looks ready to deliver is a level of immersion perhaps greater than any shooter out there. Of course it's still a little early to say for sure... it does look to have alot going for it with a truly chaotic war zone experience in the single-player and a very deep multiplayer component. Color me all shades of excited!

I know fanboys are going to go nuts because i said this but RAGE is better looking then Killzone 2, Gears 2 and Farcry 2...

The game looks amazing but if anybody believes it even comes close to the cgi e3 video than you need glasses.

NOW...just looks so good and plays even better, love the fact that the game has weight, each weapon feels and acts realistically. Can't wait.

what did halo 3 do concerning FPS gameplays besides do what the previous ones did with more weapons? If killzone 2 delivers on story/fun gameplay/online multiplayer, theres no reason to give it below a 9, imo.

after reading this and seeing a ton of videos for this gem. i'm soo glad R2 is releasing in nov. because it would reeeeeealy suck to have to wait till feb. at least we're getting another awesome game before it. and R2 may not look as good as this game. but it is still going to be a GREAT fps. and resistance is gonna have good online. 60 people is awesome. but i think killzone is going to blow it away as well.

GG made this game just for me. Gameplay and Graphics looks very promising. I am so hyped for this game. I will be taking some time off to play this game which i have never done in my life.

i think it would be a great surprise if the game comes with co op right from the release date, cant wait to play it

rpg's are going to 360 for now, but with FPS's like R2 and especially KZ2 coming out, i don't really care about any other game/s especially not rpg's

Graphics and the chaos behind this game looks great.
But do you know what really appeals to me?
That awesome shaky-cam camera of the engine whilst moving.

The immersion of this game judging by the trailers and gameplay video clips will be like playing that same experience Cloverfield gave you just sitting in that cinema seat.

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

Resistance series and Killzone 2 & 3 remasters/remakes. Make it happen. They will print money.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too

The only reason my PS3 is still connected is because of the Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm games that I still love to play. I am for remaking or remastering them.

I was never a huge fan of Killzone, but thoroughly enjoy Horizon. Guerrilla are superb developer and easily up there with the best of the best.

Need a killzone 2 remake from the ground up.

Great studio, loved the Killzone series, I wish they would do a remake of the first three games. Horizon is a real step up and truly put Guerrilla Games on the map.

Too bad I never got a chance to play Shellshock: Nam’67 would have loved to try that game out back in the days to see what were their beginnings.

It would fantastic to see what they could do in Killzone after the lessons learned through Horizon.

Or heck, give us even a short linear FPS from the people who designed Cauldron THETA in the Burning Shores expansion. Even just flying into it (after gliding around and finding its opening amongst the lava and Sunwings perched around it, with other bigger machines just along the path toward it) was an incredible experience.

Forbidden West is awesome, It’s pretty damn big compared to Zero Dawn and it takes a little while to get your skills up and get the equipment you need to fully explore the game (not going to spoil it) but once you do those things and start fighting the big ass machines it really is amazing. Some cool side quests to where you hold the fate of peoples lives by your choice and the cauldrons look amazing. Lots of skills , combos, special moves and add ons for your weapons so you can approach fights many ways. Looking forward to the name game but I wonder how/if Silas will be a part of it or not ? Sad he’s gone.

I'm hyped for whenever Horizon 3 releases but Killzone 1 needs a remake BAD and 2 & 3 need remasters. Criminal those games are stuck on PS3.
