1) no one showed off Scorpio , it's a project no machine was showen or graphics , just people talking about what they want to achieve

2) haven't the media already undermined Xbox one s by even talking about project Scorpio months before it was mentioned ? , if Microsoft didn't say anything , the media would be saying the same stuff , why by Xbox one when Microsoft is working on a high end more powerful version ? How long have we been talking about this now for at least 2 months before e3. If they didn't mention it then the media would be saying dissapointing e3 as they failed to put the rumours to rest about Xbox Scorpio. That's why both Sony and ms announced it so that their exssiting sales of Xbox one and Xbox one s and psvr would not be hampered

Sony are constantly saying psvr works fine on ps4 ( not doubting them ) , but the media were spinning the neo story to make it seem like you needed to buy it to run ps VR .. So Sony explain neo , to stop sales being hampered.

Xbox one s is aimed at Diffrent usersers and is also a cheap UHD blu Ray player , that is a great market to be exploring with the rise of 4K content and TVs ( yes I know it's still early days , but it is growing )

3) I am sure that ms and third parties are working on bigger and better games that will be exclusive to Xbox ( not getting into the Windows 10 Xbox brand stuff as many people refuse to understand it or see the point ) , so with a solid line up and announced games , showen running on this new consle and VR stuff ( if it takes off ) and a good selling point , then I don't see why it can't appeal to gammers and have a good market wether it's 4K , HD , 3D , VR ... There's a market for this high end consle as most people prefer turning on a games consle and sitting infront of a tv with friends rather than laptop.

Only people that are hampering the sales is media who are twisting everything and making things up based on how they feel and what they thin rather than facts

With Microsoft lacking in exclusives and then giving their exclusives to PC, I doubt anybody will buy a Xbox Scorpio after seeing how the Xbox One was handled.

I really think that the scorpio is pretty much a windows 10 pc tho. Other than scorpio being cheaper than a powerful gaming pc, is there any benefit to a scorpio over a gaming pc? I mean xbox is now competing with steam boxes and alienware alpha's which is a pc in a console shape and form and has it's own interface. Now let's say steam releases their own more powerful version of the steambox with 6 teraflops, is that also competing with Ps4 then?

I truly think this is a shift for microsoft from hardware to being a software company moving forwards and there is nothing wrong with that, but one cannot compare ps4 to scorpio because both are doing different things and personally a gaming pc is a better deal as there is backwards compatibility from the NES era all the way to now unlike the xbox ecosystem that the scorpio plan's on bringing.

Let me get this straight. Sony has yet to announce a reveal for the Neo, but it has been confirmed and we know it is coming, possibly in 2016. The gaming media seems happy.

MS announces the Scorpio is coming at the end of 2017 and plays all X1 games, all accessories work, and any X360 back compat games work, and is a massive 6 teraflops, devs can use it as they see fit, that says to me it can be used to improve framerates, resolution, A I, as all we have heard the last 3 years is how the X1 is underpowered compared to the PS4 and the MS Xbox misinformation and hate continues. Why?

Me, personally, I am happy with the approach MS is implementing. We have no idea how things are going to turn out, and it just seems to be a lot of negative speculation.

2017 will be 4 years of the X1, many say they want the generation to be not as long as the previous gen given the power of both the PS4 and X1.

MS announces the S which replaces the the original X1, looks like they improved many of the issues many gamers had against the original, so the message is simple.

Those who currently have X1s and are fine with that continue enjoying that unless you just want to change over to the S. The Scorpio is not coming until the end of 2017, so if you want a 4k player now, or you want to enjoy the X1 games you can enjoy them 2016 and beyond, and for those who want to upgrade to the Scorpio can or continue enjoying the S or X1 orig. As a console only gamer who could really care less about PC gaming, I am fine with that. I am fine with the choices MS is giving. If you are not, don't buy.

No, they are basically extending the Xbox Brand to Windows 10 and beyond PC's. That's not undermining. They are giving the consumer choices.

They did not undermine the slim, they INFORMED their customers so they don't go buy a SLIM when a Scorpio is coming, so that then they get pissed and say they wish they would've known so they could of bought the Scorpio and now won't ever buy another Microsoft console again.

You see they tried to force things on consumers before, and that got us the Xbox One situation. They are now giving their customers a heads up so THEY CAN CHOOSE what they want. You want a slim, great, but just know we're making a more powerful one soon, but you don't even need that if you have or plan to build a great Windows 10 PC. So either way, we're telling you we have the low end, medium end, and high end covered. Whatever power level you want, you can game on Microsoft and we hope you do.

It's not hard, it's pretty obvious when you think about it, but it's not good business to make the customer HAVE to think about it. That's the only thing Spencer did wrong. But it's ok, he has plenty of time to focus in on what he needs to.

He shouldn't of said it's a 4k box, because Scorpio is barely going to be one. It's right to say the developers have a CHOICE. Some developers will be able to make 4k games. Some won't. But if they can't, or don't want to as they'd rather have rock solid 60 FPS at 1080 instead of 20-30 at 4k, they can use that extra power on said rock solid 1080/60 games (of course remember some devs will be really bad and screw up, but that's on them).

So Spencer could have presented it better, but they got the right idea. They are giving the customer a choice. Game with us and use and spend money on our ecosystem whether you are a low end console player, medium end console player, or high end PC user. We will support you up and down the line. We're telling you in advance our intentions so you can decide what's best for you.

This is the sort of focus that will serve them well, and I applaud them for it.

You buy a xbox one S if you have 1080p TV and a scorpio for a 4k TV. It's as straight forward as can be. Nothing is undermined except this site's credibility and bias. You always know it's a crappy site when the author is in the N4G comment section.

Xbox is a mess right now. The biggest reason for this is MS shoving down Widows 10 down everyones throats.

It did...by strongly supporting windows 10 and pcs...which is by no means a bad thing for us but they have inadvertently damaged their general console market...as many consumers will lose faith in Microsoft hardware by not only the many incoming new variations that make the current Xbox one almost obsolete. And of course PC support with the addition of no real game exclusivity in xbox consoles....so yeah....it seemed a bit of a sabotage to themselves...considering the hardware that is...as for software it will surely be overwhelmingly better due to the huge opening in Windows 10 PC market....
That strategy of theirs has made consumers, like me, wary of Microsoft's hardware.As I bought my Xbox with the release of halo 5 and with many "exclusives" on the way...but this changed now as I will play all later ''exclusives" on an upgraded windows 10 PC and not an inferior and probably not so well optimized games especially if they release their revised Xbox Scorpio....
But all I can do now is wait and see....and that I will do...

Pretty much. After owning an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One, I won't be purchasing another Microsoft console. If releasing a new console every 4 years or so is going to be the new normal and all Xbox games will be playable on PC, I'll invest in a solid PC rig instead. It'll have better performance, and it's likely to be cheaper in the long run too.

What undermines it is the fact that all the games will be available on PC and tablet. Whats the point of a console if not the games? why would I buy this if I know I can buy another console that enjoys exclusives while I can play xbox games on my PC? This is MS moving away from console gaming. To be honest, I never felt they had their heart in it. the console was just a way for MS to find a way into the living rooms, it was never an end to itself, it was a means to an end for them. That's why they don't have very many first party studios with all the money at their disposal.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
