I am so pumped for the Scorpio, VR, and 4K gaming. I'm glad Microsoft is raising the bar again.

Eidolon3665d ago (Edited 3665d ago )

MS is doing VR?
edit: oh, Scorpio will support other VR hardware

ULTp0ltergeist3665d ago (Edited 3665d ago )

Well in the console space YES! MS will be doing VR better than Sony.

Im very glad to see what they have done. Hopefully NEO for Sony learns from this and responds accordingly. Very pleased with Microsoft overall. I love competition. Sony forced this kind of move. Now hopefully Sony responds.

Already seems they are following that same path with the neo. They just don't have the win10 side to throw into the mix..

I wouldn't say a new gaming generation beggings. Article was great and it made sense.

I think people though need to see the future as gaming as choice rather than 5 to 6 years a new console with new games and control which means previous controllers won't work etc.

It's going to be simpler than that , and makes sense. 3 Xboxs all aimed at Diffrent users, each running off the one system Xbox live and all connecting to other Windows devices ... Meaning pc owners can play the way they want and still get console games , and Xbox one users won't miss a thing.

It's the same thing you see at Apple , Diffrent Laptops and desktops , all running under the same system and aimed at Diffrent users ... You dog buy a €1000 console just to surf the web , you buy the cheapest model to suit your needs.

That's the future of gaming , choice for the player , the article makes it clear , he wants 4K but not concerned about VR so a console should give him that choice.

Ms have a platform to do this and it's opened up a lot more gates for developers and players across a wider scale ... I would say this generation is evolving into a new type of gaming world rather than a new gaming platform.

Still feel we will have generations, as there will be a high and low model.. as a new high model releases, everything moves up a spot and the old one will be forced out of the loop.. can't see the ol 1.4tf xb1 hanging around once we start going above the 6tf range

Scaling a dynamic res game is one thing.. that's basically just a parameter but I think each console will only have a life span of the traditional 5-6 years before they cant handle the basic framework of the newer games..

When he said no gamer left behind, he was referring only to Scorpios launch (IMO). Not that xb1 and all its accessories will carry on indefinitely

Sweendog0073665d ago

he said after e3 in articles that xbox scorpio is not a new console in the sense you need scorpio games to play on it, you can play xbox one games on it, and benefit from some games not all will benefit.

controllers will carry over too. if thats not the case then it makes no sense to launch a new elite gears controller

even kinkect will carry over, although you need to get an adaptor for xbox one slim for it to work, but it can still be used,

i like the idea and a high end version of consoles and buying a game playing it on any device. its a great move and gives me as a player more choice on how i want to experience a game. Thats the key message from MS, the player gets the choice.

n4rc3665d ago

yeah i know.. i mean people tend to misinterpret the message.

for the foreseeable future, everything carries forward hence the "nobody left behind"
but thats not forever. eventually the xb1 will become obsolete, we finally ditch 3.5mm audio, new bluetooth protocols etc etc...

right now.. the games can all be the same simply because of the gap we find ourselves in.. we struggle to hit 1080/60 and now people want 4k.. the same game can run on both with the resolution being the difference (and vr) but eventually, the xb1 wont be able to keep up. its only natural.. a og xbox cant run halo 5 no matter how low they drop the resolution lol.. for example

Playable_Gamez3665d ago (Edited 3665d ago )

I feel like this is 9th gen. ReviewTechUSA made a good point. MS and Sony may be pushing the nobody will be left behind slogan, but for how long? NX Scorpio and Neo are 9th gen consoles in my eyes.

n4rc3665d ago (Edited 3665d ago )

My guess? A year before we start seeing Scorpio only titles.. which still gives xb1 a 5 year cycle.. (same with the neo, feel Sony are doing the same thing)

Probably still have many games released for it after that.. just not the demanding AAA games, they will naturally push beyond

poppinslops3665d ago

Devs won't make Scorpio/Neo exclusives until there's enough of an install base to justify the development cost - which would be significantly higher than for XO/PS4... that said, MS could always throw a few billion at R*, secure a must-have exclusive and use it to sell the console like they did with Halo.

n4rc3664d ago

I don't know.. it didn't take much for devs to move onto this gen.. or any others..

But with x1 and ps4 remaining active after neo and Scorpio, it's a whole different ballgame now.. you may be right and we just see split games I guess you'd call them (scalable for both systems)

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio61d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing61d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9261d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit61d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing61d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9261d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
