It was the case of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands : The proposed demo was running on a PC with very similar specifications to the Xbox One.

Well... while it can be seen as dishonest, there are reasons why this may happen. I assume that most work is done on PC anyway. Maybe its wasn't up and running on the dev kit so they just showed a decent approximation? It really depends on the specs of the machine used.

Gaming_Cousin3637d ago

Well they as sure as hell aren't going to use a crappy PC to show off graphics for E3

Eonjay3637d ago

Yeah... its hard to image they would I have to concede.

Kingthrash3603636d ago (Edited 3636d ago )

Does this mean gears showing was on pc? Man what if on the xbo it looks like the beta???? It's just shady. It's bait and switch. MS has always been a shady company...it's a highly successful company but it's got there though in a shady way. I wouldn't be surprised if all games shown were on pc. All its games are on pc anyway so they wouldn't get in trouble but it's still shady.

GameNameFame3636d ago

This isnt first time MS doing dirty tactics and it seems like it really continued all these years.

This is especially true for Halo series as well.

It was the case of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands : The proposed demo was running on a PC with very similar specifications to the Xbox One. Users have been pre-warned by a small sign placed next to the game location. Microsoft Brava!

nix3636d ago

"The proposed demo was running on a PC with very similar specifications to the Xbox One"

I wonder which Xbox? One, S or Scorpio?

Gazondaily3636d ago

@Kingthrash

Did you not read the article? It was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands and it came with MS' disclaimer...

Read articles before being 'outraged'

donthate3636d ago

Septic:

It was read, but ignored. MS is scummy regardless of what they do... /s

Mehmeh3636d ago (Edited 3636d ago )

@gamename

This isn't first time you come in to MS/Xbox articles with nothing but thrash talk.

You must have a lot of spare time

Edit: Added a "but" in-between nothing and trash x)

Sunny_D3636d ago

Meh, even if there's a disclaimer... It doesn't dissolve MS from it's past shady tactics where they have done this before. This isn't new. They did this when it was the 360.

mcstorm3636d ago

Wow people over reacting as always on this site. It was a 3rd party game that was shown on pc not a Microsoft game.
But if we go off what people above are saying about MS not doing the right thing by showing this on pc is it the same for Sony? http://n4g.com/news/1530044...

Come one it is what it is. wait for the game to come out on the console before calling the BS you all keep saying.

TheCommentator3636d ago

Why is the title clearly lying to us? MS did not. Ubisoft did, and with a disclaimer to boot.

conanlifts3636d ago

It's not an issue, unless gears 4 was on pc and the xbox one version still resembles the beta. If this was the case they would be slammed. Otherwise i have no issue with it.

Errorist763636d ago

Of course Gears 4 was demoed on PC! What did you think?!

ABizzel13636d ago

Gears 4 won't look anything like the beta stop it. The newer screens that were released several days ago are much more incline with what the game should actually look like on XBO.

As I said when the Beta was out it looked worse than the Gears 1 remaster and textures, lighting, particle effects, etc... were both missing and turned down to the lowest settings (which caused fanboys to rage, but now said fanboys are applauding the fact that all those things have been added to the game and it looks better).

The beta was simply a stress test for servers.

conanlifts3636d ago

Abizzel1 i agree with you. I don't expect the beta to look like the final game. It was more a "what if" thought.
@Errorist76 there is no evidence gears was on pc. The game shown on pc was a ubisoft game, ghost recon, they have a history of doing this.

JackBNimble3636d ago

Does it really matter?
Don't they do that every year anyways?

Sic_Parvis_Magna3636d ago

Deceiving their fans, lying about exclusivity, man this company feels like a giant scam.

Deadpooled3636d ago

I remember the other year and the hololens presentation thinking "WHAT IS THAT AWESOMENESS!?!!", then a few weeks later reading that was damn camera trickery.

Lamboomington3636d ago (Edited 3636d ago )

Give it a break, please. It was Ghost Recon Wildlands, and at-least they made that information known.

Besides, if you think that was running on a high end PC, think again. Look at the draw distance, the basic shadow resolution, the textures. These are things which, even on a mediocre PC port, you get options to increase. 100% that game was not running high or even close to max on PC. (If it was, they made a horrible PC port)Based on that, it should be obvious that the PC used was indeed similar to the XBONE (although probably slightly better)

When Sony did the same thing with their demos previously, no problem right ?

AndrewLB3636d ago

Perhaps you weren't paying attention in 2013 eh? http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

jessionpc3636d ago

Dude... They ARE A GIANT SCAM!!!

PLEASE invest some time and look into their history with PC and Games for Windows Live in the past!!! You'll SHIT from what you see!

M$ is a complete and total manipulation ring business! EVERYTHING they touch they destroy! They don't have a honest gamer working for them. They even Hired a poser boy to make the company look better! All he does is hang out on TWITTER!!!

"It was the case of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands : The proposed demo was running on a PC with very similar specifications to the Xbox One. Users have been pre-warned by a small sign placed next to the game location"

Are people really going to really make a big deal about this? The games in development still, it's a prototype. At least they're being honest.

Aloy-Boyfriend3637d ago (Edited 3637d ago )

They should have the xbox E3 prototype ready to get shown and be playable there. No excuses unless they got no confidence in the console. Then you wonder why downgrades happen... Lame Ubisoft

Manic20143637d ago (Edited 3637d ago )

It's UBISOFT presenting and developing the game, not Xbox, so don't you think it's their responsibility.

81BX3636d ago

Hagagaga here is a sign... a sign to tell you this is running on a pc.... a pc with similar specs to an xbox one.....not running on a xbox one.... but a pc....
Now lets act like this sign, this very sign that explained all this didnt exist.

Gazondaily3636d ago

It's actually quite common practice.

Batman Arkham Knight was running on PC but had PS4 button prompts.

http://n4g.com/news/1530044...

NeoGamer2323636d ago

You obviously no nothing about software development.

Quite often E3 is the latest and greatest builds of these games and there are developers working night and day to be ready for E3. A short cut developers use is to only bring a build on the lead development platform to events for showing. This speaks absolutely nothing to how good or bad a build on the Xbox One will be. This is all about developers getting a good and complete build ready for a big marketing event (probably the biggest marketing event in video games).

Cueil3636d ago

it's simply easier to get a demo up and running on a PC... these are PC as well so chill

I'm not sure why you are holding microsoft accountable for one honest developer. This really is pushing it, even for Sony fans

jessionpc3636d ago

You and me buddy?...

We must have different subjective idea's about what honesty is.

Because M$ certainly isn't fucking honest... No...

CERTAINLY NOT HONEST.

darthv723637d ago

not the first time, won't be the last time and I'm certainly not bothered by it.

Gaming_Cousin3637d ago (Edited 3637d ago )

Oh so you're not bothered by the Watch Dogs graphical downgrade? The graphics were amazing and they toned it down so much. I guess some people don't care about big graphical losses

darthv723637d ago

I don't play games for their graphics. I play them for fun. since you asked.

Gaming_Cousin3637d ago (Edited 3637d ago )

So if they made an Uncharted 4 or Halo 5 for the PS1 with same story mode + gameplay, to you it wouldn't matter which one you are going to pick?

darthv723637d ago

I haven't played either of those as I don't have PS4 or XB1 yet. But since you keep asking... if there was uncharted for ps1 i would play it because I like the story of uncharted. Same with halo, i like the story. It's not the graphics that draw me in, it's the story and way it blends different elements together.

And i guess technically there has been an uncharted type of game on the PS1. It was called tomb raider and yes, it was fun to play with puzzles to solve and things to explore.

game4funz3636d ago

Agreed.. Graphic whores are a problem in the gaming community.
Thanks to them we're getting mid gen upgrades. At least I'm glad I won't need to get an upgrade to play the latest Xbox games on my pc... Assuming the ports don't suck the version I'll be playing will look the best....
With Playstation that's not the case... I'll likely be forced to upgrade if I want that... Seriously they're freaking taking advantage of gamers who want the best experiences and disguising it by saying we're a small group. I foresee another Playstation console in 2019 after the neo

NewShadow1013636d ago

Soooo.... You don't believe graphics quality matters, but you hope your version looks best...

If uncharted 4 came out for the PS1 they couldn't have pulled you into the story the same way. Facial expressions were non existent. The soundtrack would be mangled. And we wouldn't be able to tell what's what because ND needed this gens graphical fidelity to paint the picture they desired. No matter how much I enjoy the uncharted series, I couldn't last long playing it on the PS1. I would definitely give it a try though just to satisfy my curiosity.

Deadpooled3636d ago

@NewShadow

The "ps1 version" would probably look like a less pixelated 8 bit mod available once you complete campaign for the first time :D

jessionpc3636d ago

Classic retard.

Your lied to by M$, and you take an apologists defense towards the company that owns your soul.

Your a defeatist. You have Stockholms syndrome. You suck.

Gamepass has changed everything. Phil, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for Gamepass. I just bought 50 years worth of subscription and I'm so happy.

CBaoth1305d ago

Riiight! Thanks to GP I've discovered hundreds of indie fillers I would've never known about otherwise. Best part: team Xbox has discovered how great walking sims and interactive movies really are! And EA Play? Love me some 4 year old sports games!! Why sub up though? Just let MS auto renew that incredible $14.99 a month value. It's so easy!!

JBplusVB1305d ago

Gamepass is just so amazing. Adding EA play to it brought the service to a whole nother level. Phil Spencer has the brightest mind in gaming. By far.....
