They just need to work out all the bugs with UWP. As a PC OS... W10 is pretty solid in my experience. I have not had any issues with hardware or software but then again I don't game on my W10 PC. when it comes to productivity it is better than my W7 machine at work. Fast, reliable and no BSOD. Everyone elses experience will vary but mine has been good.

The problem with UWP isn't the bugs. It's the controlling nature of it, the fact that Microsoft basically has to allow certain types of hardware and has the ability to disable any hardware they decide they don't want to support. Not only is it bad for consumers its restrictive on innovation. Not to mention the limitations it imposes on software modification. And the legitimate fear that Microsoft is in the position as the primary OS to force UWP by limiting system files to UWP.

And as far as Windows 10 goes it's far less stable than Windows 7 and it has massive privacy problems. As for stability just as an example my system has 16 GB of ram and I recently started to have out of memory errors which were forcing shutdowns of my system. I couldn't figure out what was causing until I started searching online and found out that MANY MANY people were reporting the same issue. It turns out that Microsoft in a recent update re-enabled superfetch with out anyone's permission. Superfetch which stores files in memory wasn't programmed by Microsoft to be smart enough to limit itself based on the amount of memory in your system. Massive numbers of people were having system crashes due to superfetch overloading there memory. And it was difficult to figure out what the problem even was since task manager didn't even list the superfetch memory usage so to users it just looked like normal memory amounts were actually being used.

Like I said, everyone elses experience will vary but mine is good. I'm running W10 on a sony laptop with 4gb of memory and it is quick and painless.

As to those issues with UWP, those are things that MS would look into as long as more people report them.

"As to those issues with UWP, those are things that MS would look into as long as more people report them."

Uh, you misunderstand. There is no way they don't know this. It was purposely programmed this way. I would surmise that in the future they want to be able to charge hardware manufacturers for the ability to make their products work with UWP.

Please stop with the privacy problems crap. Show one shred of evidence that Microsoft is looking at your personal data via Windows 10.

It's hard to take Microsoft's efforts with Windows 10 Store seriously when it still has so many limiting factors compared to other PC digital distributors.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit20d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing20d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9220d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
