During the video for Project Scorpio, two minutes of puffery dedicated to Microsoft's bright Christmas 2017, there is a man who speaks with his mouth but betrays everything with his eyes. "This doesn't mean we're leaving the Xbox One behind," he says, but the truth is there to see as his eyes flick away from the camera. Microsoft began its E3 conference by revealing the redesigned Xbox One S - and then, it still amazes me now, closed the show by telling everyone they'd be fools to buy any kind of Xbox One.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

LucasArts gave Jango Fett his own game in 2002, and it pulled Star Wars into a much dirtier, rougher, and more interesting corner of the galaxy.

Dear team,
Xbox has always been different.
We started with a simple idea. Games should bring people together through shared experiences. That led to the first Xbox in 2001, Xbox Live in 2002, and new ways to connect, from friends lists and achievements to parties and play across devices. Today, Xbox reaches over 500 million players around the world, with some of the most important franchises in entertainment.
If they go back to exclusive games it at least shows that they are finally getting it. They would be turning down immediate money for something that will potentially workout in the long term.
Only issue is they've already opened Pandora's box. A lot of their base has moved to PC or jumped to PS. So will be a long road to get back on track.
We have been saying this from day one exclusives are a must if you are going to be selling hardware look at Nintendo and Sony before Jim Ryan. That's the proven formula. You had some that were deluded and blinded by loyalty accepting that multiplat was the future and that MS was merely getting ahead of where the industry was headed, but at least they can finally see the light and agree with what everyone has been saying for a decade+
Despite all of that, it's clear that Microsoft's Xbox division is broken beyond repair.
Interesting read and point of view.
What mixed message? They were very consistent about it all being player choice. But the game once...play it anywhere. 3 consoles all in the same ecosystem...not one gets left behind...it's your choice. You can even design your own controller...its your choice. Scorpio will support multiple VR options its your choice. They also provided a varied line up of exclusive games coming this year (into early next year) what do you want to play?....its your choice. Please stop trying to make something bad out of nothing. MS did an amazing job this E3....true gamers should be excited
What's mixed?
Xb1s is a slim which will replace the original at retail fairly soon (as usual), tho it is equivalent to the xb1 in terms of games (also as usual).. save for a few 4k features for those with a 4k TV..
Scorpio comes out in a year and a half.. will have scalable development like pc always had so xb1/xb1s play the same games, Scorpio will use a higher resolution and have a more stable frame rate (I'd assume) and be used for vr applications
So what's the beef? That xb1 and even the slim will eventually get left behind? No s$&t.. of course they will, eventually.. but it won't be when Scorpio launches.
And they came right out and told you a win10 pc is all you need.. if it doesn't bother them to lose sales, why does it bother any of you? That's their business, ours is playing games.
Seemed pretty straight forward to me. But then again, I actually watched the briefing.. lol
Let's be fair here. If they didn't announce it (was already heavily rumored and wasn't going away) people would have complained that they bought the new Xbox One S without even needing too. I can only see this as a good thing for consumers. If they want to wait a year and get the Scorpio or get the Slim and use it this year. Options.
I do think it was strange announcing two consoles in one conference. But I'm hearing rumblings that it's the cheapest 4k HDR Blu Ray player. So maybe their hoping to sell it as a general consumer device that also plays games ? I dunno.
Only people that's confused is people who wznt planning on buying a Xbox One anyway
