E3 always starts each year with press conferences by a handful of the biggest publishers. It allows developers and publishers to showcase their latest and greatest video games for the near future. During E3 2016, Microsoft opened their Press Conference with an impressive demo of Gears of War 4, and then closed with the announcement of Project Scorpio. In between were new features, release dates, and, as always, amazing games. Even though I feel that Microsoft had a very strong show, there were still a few things missing from the conference this year.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
Two things were missing for me:
1) Digital buyback/resell program would have been huge. Disappointed that it was an idea kicked around by them and yet nothing has come forward since.
2) Why in 2016 do consoles require a subscription to play online. I understood it was a luxury at first when introduced over a decade ago but shouldn't a subscription service be for advanced perks/features/performance not online access??
Games and any semblance of excitement.
You got to rember games con is now seen as a big thing , I expect crackdown3 to make it there , with a spring 2017 date , they will most likely announce the date for Xbox one s at games con , that is usually the first week so end of August , gears bundle will be announced to with it. As that was the game that makes use of HDR in Xbox one s.
I would say the whole point of ms conference was not about the games but more to do with next year and on , and how Xbox live will be basically an operating system that connects PC , tablets , mobile to console and consoles will have a casual gamer , middle tear entry and high end.
Games con will likely have more detailes for the stuff that is missing
More you know variety in genre. They did have a couple new type of games they never had before but they need more. Oh and turn Killer Instinct into Xbox smash bros. type games as far as roster goes.
Great Looking Games! were missing.
Record and Sea of Thieves came out looking low budget, Scalebound looks okay, Gears looks dope though. They didn't base their conference around games. They based it around services and then hardware. Some of the services were cool but games have always been the main focus for Sony and it seems to mean more to the gamer then services.
The message was confusing, Basically, Here is are slim xbox that plays 4k video.. but we also have a better console coming out in a year and a bit so... and then they didn't show anything which seems like they were reacting to the Neo announcement from weeks earlier..
Sony was just like.. You guys like games?.. Well here is 5 exclusives in a row, in engine, Resident evil a bunch of vr exclusives, some crash remasters and another exclusive (Spiderman, Some other third parties.. FF15, New Cod/old Cod, Hideo Kojima Concept and then a more in depth look at an exclusive. Thing about these games is most of them looked to be within a release window of 18 months. They also had uncharted before E3 and no mans sky coming soonish.
