Lmao...I almost clicked on you gamingbolt..
Draw? Lol xbox lost exclusives...Ms press conference was more exciting for pc than xbox....they showed the slim and old games...with 1 new timed *exclusive surprise.
Sony started with a fucking orchestra and pulled out 5 AAA exclusives in a row and ended with barley any talk just game....after game....after game....crash bandicoot...and you call a draw? Lol ok click bait.
I'd love to see your explanation but naw I'm good.

The lowest parts of MS was the Minecraft segment now that was terrible. VR segment was needed considering it releases this year but still the sleeper of their show for me. MS didn't show any new Ip's sadly which is actually ok because they gave out release dates which Sony was really lacking in when will we be playing these games? MS gave release dates or Windows. Sony had a better game showcase but MS showcase wasn't lacking they still haven't showed off Crackdown 3 yet.

MS conference was weird and somewhat cringy but no way was it bad they still have plenty of AAA's. Sony had a better overall game showcase. I feel like I'm very excited for whats to come for PS4 but more excited for when I get to play the games on X1. Recore (2016), Scalebound ( early 2017), Crackdown (2017) one of the biggest things for me was release dates or at least windows for games.

I think overall Sony won because of all those leaks that happen with MS for once again, plus Sony's games showcase just a had a slightly bigger impact overall. This was a tough one. But MS in no way in any shape or form a bad conference.

Given the disdain many have for Windows 10 it seems the only way for those gamers to play any of the Microsoft exclusives would be on the XB1. If they don't have an XB1 then they will need to upgrade to W10 in order to play. MS gets their $$ either way.

Now the only other option to either of those would be to abstain from MS exclusives all together. I don't know about others but I can't bring myself to deny what I like and I like video games. I've never held onto animosity to a point where it kept me from picking up a platform simply because i did not care for the company that made it.

As to who won... I'm going to say the neutral response, the gamers won with their wallets losing. It makes the most rational sense.

rainslacker3643d ago (Edited 3643d ago )

I have to agree on the overall quality of content shown, but think it was some of the way it was presented that brought it down. Minecraft was a bore, SoT had one of the worst game play reveals I've ever seen, and they showed a lot of games that were shown at last years E3.

Their biggest hitter, GeOW, fell kind of flat IMO. I just hope they put more thought into other segments of the game, and I'm going to take this oppurtunity to suggest to developers to find game play segments which don't include excessive banter...either from the players, or the avatars. Scalebound, for instance, I think had the best game play shown at the conference. But damn if that avatar wasn't annoying.

I felt Recores game play reveal was a bit disappointing. A montage isn't bad for a trailer, but I was hoping for something a little more focused on a single segment which showed the game play in full.

Then of course, all the leaks, and expected games/other stuff, didn't help in building the excitement, and kind of diminished the impact of any single reveal that did come.

But I think it'd be a good year where both sides of the console war just say that they both had great conferences, and leave it at that.

@darth

The people you're talking about have more disdain for MS, so it won't really matter if it's on the console or Win10 itself. Otherwise, it's just an excuse to justify one's dislike of Xbox. I dislike Win10 personally, but I have it, but I'm not going to lock myself into purchasing PC games, and that's more because I'm not a fan of digital content, which is why I primarily play on consoles. Unfortunately, having an Xbox and PS4 is redundant for 99% of the games out there, and if the 1st/2nd party exclusives aren't appealing enough, or have enough quantity to attract customers, that won't really bring in a sale to MS. At best, I think the move, for the type of people that just don't want a Xbox console, will allow them to buy the occasional 1st/2nd party game that they're attracted to, which is good for MS/publisher. It will obviously also potentially bring in the PC gamer, which is probably a more substantial market....but many of them are very much against Win10(or at least the store), and that has nothing to do with MS exclusives, or consoles.

Microsoft lost exclusives to itself?

3643d ago
Kingthrash3603643d ago

i didnt say microsoft....i said xbox.
and yes the xbox lost exclusives to pc....how didnt it??
you xbots spin everything.
exclusives sell consoles....period. MS is in the PC software and console hardware. seeing that consoles sell based on its exclusives....the xbox has taken a blow. even more so becuse in such a short life. the xboxone will end in 2017...started in 2014. the scorpio will be essintially a steam machine without steam. nobody wants to talk pricing but with what power the scorpio will have will come at a cost...like the cost to build your own pc. i get that people would want the simplicity of a console, but if the scorpio is upgradable whats simple about it? ....y'know what...spin all you want. i cant see how people still stand behind a company that has fucked them time and time again. do you think gears footage was from pc or xbox? what about scalebound?...no matter what the xbox will be the place to play the lesser versions of games. they set out to beat playstation...not in bringing more game..but in power...but at that same moment lost to pc. why? smdh...now its competitors will be the psneo and pc. pc will beat it in power, ps4 neo will beat it in games...and in like 2019 ps5 will come out and beat it in power as well. lol...just wow
the scorpio is releasing too soon and the pc will have the defenitive versions of all its games....lol all ms will do is charge you for parts every 6 months give you the same games and innovate absolutly 0 times...just like it did this generation.

darthv723643d ago

Thrash... maybe its growing up in a different generation but to me exclusives are less of a selling point than just simply having a diverse library of games in general.

Look at any of the successful platforms previously like the NES or PS1 and PS2 and even the 360 and you will find the ratio of exclusives to every other game within those libraries is considerably low.

They have their place, dont get me wrong but "games" in general sell systems. If exclusives alone were the key then even the wiiu should be selling better because its whole existance is mostly exclusives.

The appeal of games in general is the key to success. Some prefer what sony systems offer, others prefer nintendo systems and others prefer just gaming in general with no loyalties.

Pongwater3643d ago (Edited 3643d ago )

@darth - Your WiiU/exclusive logic doesn't hold water. Exclusives don't sell hardware if people don't want to play them. Nintendo obviously has their audience, but they're generally out of touch with what money spending home console players want these days, it seems.

Also, of course the ratio of exclusives to multiplats will always heavily favor multiplats, provided 3rd parties support the hardware, which is another reason your WiiU point holds no water. WiiU is all exclusives because there's no other option.

I think gamingbolt gave extra points to MS because now they can actually get devs to talk more about the new console paradigm, which will lead to them being able to make more click bait titles. GB is just excited they can generate more clicks, because they really have no interest in the betterment of the industry itself.

Gaming_Cousin3644d ago (Edited 3644d ago )

How is it a draw? Obviously one had to do better than the other. This isn't a soccer game where draws actually happen because of the score. This isn't a count to see how many games announced in which draws would be more common. Gamingbolt is like cancer who make articles geared to getting hits than having quality articles that have something meaningful in them. Gamingbolt gets another L for this one.

AngelicIceDiamond3644d ago

I can see it being a draw considering besides VR content, Horizon and The Last Guardian everything else is to tba similar to last year. MS had no surprises because of leaks but they had release dates for its games.

Thatguy-3103644d ago

We come to E3 to see games that are being worked on. We aren't expecting games that are close or near to release to be announce. It's all about the future software. Even the games that we had already known about trounced what Microsoft showed.

AngelicIceDiamond3644d ago (Edited 3644d ago )

@Guy I feel like that's another goal post because ppl here kept saying how long does Xbox fans have to wait for its games. Plus if this was vice verse the argument would be way different. Btw and I guess you're fine with waiting...again Shenmue, Final Fantasy 7 remake last year, the games Sony showed off all TBA again this year. Kojima's game won't release for 2 maybe 3 years. Sony has a slew of games and AAA's take time but this is the second year we're all waiting. Impulse reactions Sony's very good at but soon realize all the these great looking games put us on the waiting list.

Yall may not like what I'm saying I have a knack for saying stuff nobody likes or wants to hear but I really, really don't care but absolutely nobody can come up with a logical argument against me. Sony won on impulse reactions. MS wasn't a "loss" because MS has a allot of games to in which they're spreading out the very thing everybody on here complained just none stop about.

ninsigma3643d ago

Release dates don't matter for E3. We want to see what's cooking for the next year or 2. The games shown by sony were much better than by MS but it's a draw because the MS ones have release dates?? Right.

-Foxtrot3643d ago

Similar to last years

Urm...

Gears of War 4
Sea of Thieves
Halo Wars
Recore
Scalebound

All shown at last years MS conference

Even other games still part of a franchise like Forza, Minecraft and the like had a presence last year

3643d ago
Benchm4rk3643d ago

@Foxtrot

Halo Wars wasn't at last year's E3

Pongwater3643d ago

I just don't understand what you mean about waiting. I've never had a gaming backlog so big. This whole generation people have tried to promote the "Waitstation" idea, yet every single year PS4 has had more games to play (large and small, retail and digital) and still has the higher rated exclusive lineup.

Also, as others have said, E3 is about revealing new things. Always has been. This gen MS uses it as a commercial for it's near future lineup. It's a good way to promote the illusion that you have more games during the holidays I suppose.

Because it's Gamingbolt, lol.
According to Gamingbolt, Germany 7 X 1 Brazil was also a draw.

EXTREMETECH3643d ago

he he you dont trust this website!!

rainslacker3643d ago

It's very hard to measure hype. The value of the conferences is that it allows companies to generate interest and awareness in their products. I think that both Sony and MS did great at that this year. How much interest was gained is about the only measurable quantity, and I can say with 100% confidence, gamingbolt did not research it enough to actually be able to say that it is equal...or even close to equal. Usually about 2-3 weeks after E3, some media tracking sites do come up with numbers to say which generated more interest...however, it's measurements usually have some odd ways of calculating the numbers.

There used to be a guy every year here on N4G who put down distinct ways to measure the conference. Things like number of games shown. Number of new IP's shown. Taking points away for non gaming related stuff. Was pretty cool, but he hasn't done it the past couple years. Might be worth looking up his metrics to see if we can use them, because most people seem to be willing to accept them for some better discussion, and it did remove some of the hyperbole that surrounds conferences(like, they showed no games/new IPs, or stuff like that).

ninsigma3643d ago

Draw my ass. Ms had a good showing and it's probably their show I've enjoyed the most but the PS conference just didn't stop! It all kept coming and I even want god of war now and I don't like that series!!

Germany73643d ago

Portugal X Iceland and Ireland X Sweden are draws.

This E3 was just like Germany X Brazil.

ninsigma3643d ago

Can't believe we conceded an own goal for that draw. Ugh lol

Germany73643d ago

Ireland? Still, it was a great match.

ninsigma3643d ago

Yup! First goal was phenomenal.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio37d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing37d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit37d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing37d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
