Resident Evil 7 demo: All the endings we’ve uncovered so far

Stevivor -- While still not a traditional Resident Evil game, Resident Evil 7‘s demo is more layered than we originally thought. Here are all the endings we've uncovered so far.

I am extremely impressed with this demo so far, initially had some P.T. feels coming from the trailer. I am glad to see a different direction taken for this one, at least so far. I was genuinely creeped out by this which isn't something that has happened to me in any recent resident evil game. Can't wait to get my hands on the retail release.

Kleptic3503d ago

haven't tried the demo but definitely think it looks great so far...

All the 'this isn't resident evil' because of the perspective change are just typical knee jerk reactions that come from first impressions...the EXACT same thing happened with RE4 over a decade ago...'this isn't RE', etc., etc., etc., and it ended up setting standards across the industry....and the irony is that every RE has sucked since because they DIDN'T revolutionize in a similar way...

change is good when its applied when needed...and I can't think of a franchise that's more ripe for a back to the drawing board approach...

SuicidalTendencies3503d ago (Edited 3503d ago )

RE4 wasn't a Resident Evil game. Just because it "set standards, blah, blah, blah" doesn't change that fact. They could have slapped any name on RE4 and it would have been just as big.

Kleptic3503d ago

As I was saying..............

SuicidalTendencies3503d ago

What you were saying is idiotic. If that's what you were going for then okay.

TricksterArrow3502d ago

While I agree, this is not setting standards, but actually conforming to them.

Outlast, Alien Isolation, Among the Sleep, Slender, Amnesia, Routine, Soma, Daylight, Layers of Fear, Ghost Theory, Allison Road, PT, and many, many more... All of these games are horror games with a first person perspective.

All of them have differing levels of success but all of them do feel extremely similar in concept and feeling. RE7 will need to rely on something else other than simply changing the perspective and cranking up horror elements if it wants to stand out. And, TBH, I can't think of any current and relevant horror series that is third person. A pity, cause Silent Hill 2 is third person and definitely the scariest and most disturbing game I've ever player.

joab7773502d ago

I love the direction Sony is taking with God and the same w/ RE7. There are a lot of great IPS with rich history that don't need to die per se. They just need some life breathed back into them.

TeflonHahn3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

Wasn't The Evil Eithin third person? (Underrated title IMO btw)

*Edit* you did say relevant, and TEW def isn't relevant or genre defining so you're right.

+1 agreeing with you on silent hill

assdan3503d ago

No doubt this demo took some inspiration from PT. But PT was way better.

Zorkaz3503d ago

Watched PewDiePie play, and it definitely looks great. It's not P.T., though it has some similarities, but it makes me wonder how much of this will have to do with the full game.

TXIDarkAvenger3503d ago

The demo is not apart of the full game. Confirmed on Capcom's stream today.

Sunny_D3502d ago

I recommend you watch some other bearable YouTuber than Pewdiepie...

Haha do true..that guy is cancer. I love cohh_carnage!

Hold_It3502d ago

AlphaOmegaSin is bad too. He just pretends to be a fan of RE and other things so he can get hits, not because he actually likes them. His "experience" is about as fake as the video reactions of people watching E3.

Ozmoses3503d ago

the dummy finger almost looks like a lockpick itself in a way... when you examine it look at the metal end sticking out of it... part of it looks cut or shaped kind of how a key is. I dunno.. I also swear I saw a trapdoor in the kitchen floor during the "video" scene where it shows the guys trying to cut their hands lose from the bindings, when the woman comes from behind and kills him.

I dunno I just finished playing it really briefly so I could show a friend. Gonna investigate more later tonight.

Kurisu3503d ago (Edited 3503d ago )

I tried to use the finger on the locked drawer in the kitchen. We're clearly on the same wavelength xD

After playing the demo tonight I've decided that I'm going to get a PSVR alongside Resident Evil 7 in January. It might not be Resident Evil as we know it, but I actually like the direction that Capcom have taken with this.

acdramon3502d ago

To unlock the drawer in the kitchen, you need to go into the VCR Tape and look between the microwave and fridge on the floor and there will be a lock pick!

Hold_It3502d ago

The interesting thing is the finger says it either has something in it or it's made out of celluloid, celluiod is flammable. I wonder, if there's a lighter somewhere in the house that has to be used to burn it, and there's something inside the finger? The other interesting thing is in the kitchen in the past and present there's a drawer to the wall opposite of the sink that's already unlocked (furthest drawer to the right) with an indentation like an item used to be there. I've tried many ways, but I can't get anything to spawn there, I think there might be some kind of trigger to maybe get the a lighter or something to spawn there.

CorndogBurglar3503d ago

So.....does this game have any ties at all to previous RE games? Anything to warrant being called Resident Evil 7?

Seems to me like this is a complete departure from the series. Ghosts? Where are the zombies and Umbrella? I haven't played it yet but i have yet to see anything that would lead this to be a chapter in the RE series.

I'm totally fine with the new direction and everything, but if you are rebooting the franchise and making it something totally different, then don't call it Resident Evil 7. Call it pretty much ANYTHING ELSE. Even plain old Resident Evil would be fine. But putting that 7 in the title implies it is part of the overall, existing RE series and story, bit this clearly does not look to be the case.

Lennoxb633503d ago

It's probably in the same universe. Although its set very far away from RE6's location. RE6 takes place in a city and this'll take place in the country.

I must say though. The enemies do not look like zombies. But just people who've gone crazy.

Gmansniper33503d ago

Its been confirmed to take place after RE6 and in it takes place on an old plantation mansion. the demo hud also showed theirs an ammo counter and a photo shows an umbrella helicopter. I dont think its ghost just becasue the newspaper siad ghost dosent mean it is ghosts it could be a new virus

DragonDDark3503d ago

I think the demo takes place before RE1. RE7 (full game) will be a sequel to RE6

gantarat3502d ago

it's happen on July 1,2017 (watch video tape)

zombiewombie3503d ago

Well there's a picture of a helicopter with the Umbrella logo, so there's that.

Hold_It3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

Yes, it takes place years after 6 (6 took place in 2012) (7 seems to take place in 2017 if the demo is anything to go by). There's a picture upstairs next the phone in the trailer that reveals quite a big link to the RE series. People are speculating that the voice on the phone sounds like Ada, or Carla. The other side of that argument is some people saying Ada's had the same voice actor, when really she hasn't.

I'd say with each Resident Evil game they've explored some kind of horror trope.

Resident Evil 1 (Fear of the unknown)
Resident Evil 2 (Fear of vulnerability/being out in the open)
Resident Evil 3 (Predator vs Prey w/ Nemesis)
Resident Evil 4 (Fear for others as Leon is a badass in 4, and everyone else seems to have no experience)
Resident Evil 5 (Fear of the Past, as Chris thought Jill was dead all that time, and his past keep coming back to haunt him along with Wesker)
Resident Evil 6 (Xenophobia/ Fear of the End of the world)
Resident Evil 7 (Seems to be Scopophobia or fear of being watched)

I'm going to make sure the house is empty when I play this. Not because I'm trying to be macho or anything. But that playing this with VR, I'm going to get on the fam nerves. I'm going to scream my head off.

Capcom explains why it's releasing three Resident Evil games at the same time on Nintendo Switch 2

If you watched the most recent Nintendo Direct, you likely saw the news that Capcom is bringing not one, but three Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year. The system will be getting Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem at the same time.

repsahj110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

I have the RE7 PS5 version, but I didn't have the chance to get Village. So, I might get both RE8 & RE9 on Switch 2 on launch day next year. And I think RE9 on Switch 2 is $10 cheaper.

Gamersunite880110d ago

Money. M.O.N.E.Y. That's why. And, RE games have traditionally done well on Nintendo platforms.

shinXseijuro110d ago

They could package re7&village in one pack …. Greed move but hey what do I know . I’m hyped for requiem

repsahj109d ago

In my case, I don't need the 7&8 package. But, there should be an option for that to those who wants to get both.

Good-Smurf109d ago

They know Nintendo fans would just lap it up and they will buy it at a high price.
Never gets the hype of playing something like this on the go and on a handheld though, I feel like these games needed to be experience on home consoles with as little compromise in fidelity and controls as possible.

Neonridr109d ago

then dock it and play it there. 7 and 8 will look near identical at the end of the day. And even Requiem is proving to look and run exceptionally well on the S2. Unless you are going to sit here and gripe about some hair being different.

nice that Requiem is launching day and date with the other platforms. Glad to see that the S2 is capable of running the RE Engine.

I would expect we should see ports of 2, 3 and 4 at some point after 7, 8 and 9 release.

repsahj125d ago

and I strongly believe that it will still be improved in the final build.

Neonridr123d ago

for sure, I'm not worried about some hair right now. Long ways to go before release, we have no idea if the S2 version was being worked on at the same time as the other platforms.

repsahj123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

@Neonridr
They can still patch later or fix it before launch. For example, I think Kay's hair is already fixed on the latest patch of Star Wars Outlaws.

Slipnoodles125d ago

Conflicting feeling about it.. if the PS5 & XSX will have "superior" versions, does the switch version come a little cheaper or the same pricing? I want a Switch 2, for Smash specifically but paying high/same prices for an inferior version of a game baffles me.

Exvalos125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

So dont do it, switch should only be used for nintendo exclusives. Please play 3rd party elsewhere as your paying the same for an inferior product. Now if your a kid and the switch is all you have then its understandable but no grown man should be using switch for 3rd party.

Slipnoodles125d ago

I see whatcha mean, but if I pay that much for it I may want games third party on the go y'know? weighing options here.

Yui_Suzumiya125d ago

When I owned a Switch OLED, I only used it for 3rd party games. Now I've transitioned to a Steam Deck OLED and have no need for any other gaming device since it plays everything new and old. Also, I'm 43 so far from a kid, lol

Neonridr123d ago

LOL, this is a hill to die on.

How about you let people play where they want to play?

repsahj125d ago

So we should play all games using $2000+ PC rig for superior version?

Benjaminkno123d ago

And if roles were reversed you would predictably be praising Sony for a portable option

Slipnoodles122d ago

Actually no, I haven't been big on Sony this generation. The most filler gen they've produced, hence why I am looking around lol

Guys, IGN release a better quality of this trailer running on Switch 2. Is really captured on Switch 2? It's miles better than the Direct trailer.

Resident Evil Fans Discuss Whether They Prefer First Or Third Person

Players have long debated the merits of third-person as opposed to first-person perspective in games and the topic has recently resurfaced on Reddit, this time concerning the long running Resident Evil series. The discussion so far has generated somewhat heated opinions from users on both sides of the argument.

Resident Evil has a long history of using both perspectives, with some entries in the series like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 offering players a third-person view, while others like Resident Evil 7 provided players with a first-person perspective. Some fans believe third-person allows for better visibility and control over the character, while others believe that first-person immerses you more deeply into the game's atmosphere.

Third always

It's what it's always been and how it's meant to be played whether it's fixed camera angles or over the shoulder.

Rockstar997d ago

There was a time when I would have agreed but if you've got a vr setup the 1st person RE's are on another level.

That being said, they can both exist because they're both fantastic.

Babadook7983d ago (Edited 983d ago )

Exactly. If there was no VR version available or possible I’d say 3rd person. But because of the extreme heightened immersion, VR trounces the flat screen version, so 1st person please.

Sonic1881997d ago (Edited 997d ago )

They should have the option to have both going forward imo. But I do prefer third person view

Levii_92997d ago

I love both and the new mainline RE games should stay in first person for at lest one more game that’s why i hated that Capcom for some reason added third person in RE8 .. like why ? What was the point ? It just lost what made the new games unique and different. Re7 is a gem and already such a classic, it’s RE1 of this generation or well the prevous generation i guess i should say and RE8 is bonkers and so fun. Such great games.

Goozex997d ago

First person. It just ramps up the intensity for me
