Cuphead Platforming Gameplay Reveal

Cuphead isn't just a boss-rush game anymore. Now it has traditional, Mario-esque platforming too. And yes, it's insane.

Sonyslave33628d ago (Edited 3628d ago )

Game of The Year loving the soundtrack that old school jazz.

Lol, "game of the year " what lab do they create people like you in?

Christopher3628d ago

Glad they took some extra time to add new gameplay elements. Don't know if it will make it better, but there's always the possibility. Hopefully they announce the release date soon.

sammarshall1023628d ago

Cuphead is bought whenever it releases. I need it

Looks quite interesting, but I will wait for the review scores, before I make my final judgement.

Darkwatchman3628d ago

I'll wait to play it myself before making a final judgment 😏

GamePeace3628d ago

I'll have to correct myself, sorry ... my mistake.

First I'll wait for hundreds of good review scores + a Metascore of minimum 85 and then I'll play it myself for some weeks before I make "a final judgment".

Sadly I lack the ability to sh!t money like the Kardashians or Donald Trump => Duck, so I'll have to be careful with Donald's money ...

SlightlyRetarted3628d ago

This comment is so wrong on so many levels...it's kinda sad even.

GamePeace3628d ago (Edited 3628d ago )

My personal opinion is "wrong" and "sad"?

That's so wrong on so many levels ... it's kinda sad even.

Which part didn't you like? The part with Trump?

Darkwatchman3628d ago

It's a smaller indie game. It's not going to break the bank and if you can't afford a game, then don't pass judgment on a game you haven't played :)

GamePeace3628d ago

Something personal: I live in europe, in germany to be precise. Here we have to pay a lot of taxes (like switzerland). Sooner or later we'll have to pay the air we breathe, so every cent (if you know what cents are) counts.

That's why I wrote that I will play it myself if the game is good enough, learn to read correctly before you embarras yourself next time whiny watchman ...

Darkwatchman3628d ago

But how will you know the game is good enough without playing it yourself 😏😏😏

GamePeace3628d ago

Listen, I follow one golden rule with videogames: I'll only buy if the game gets a minimum Metascore of 85. Everything below this number is a no-play for me. Of course there are exceptions, but those are rather rare. I don't buy every single sh!t that comes from this industry. Many developers don't offer demos or trial versions before release, so I'll have to wait for the reviews before I decide if I buy something or not.

slate913628d ago

@gamepiece

I would highly highly highly advise lowering your minimum requirement to 75. There are so many games I enjoy and later go back and realize they scored 7s and 8s

Darkwatchman3628d ago

Or you could just follow my simple rule. Get what you want regardless of reviews unless there is a very unanimous hatred for it and on occasion, splurge on cheaper games or games on sale that you might normally not be interested in just to give them a chance. Never look at reviews.

I love reviews because I take the industry seriously and critical analyses of games is very interesting to me. I read and watch as many different reviews of a game as possible simply for entertainment and sometimes they do aid my purchasing decisions, though not all the time and they are never the "end all be all" for making a purchasing decision.

Your standard of only getting games with an 85 or higher metacritic is absolutely absurd. It's as absurd as obsidian missing out on a pay bonus of several thousand dollars simply because Fallout: New Vegas' metacritic was a point or two below what the publisher wanted.

Reviews can be very helpful, but come on, man. Live a little. Have you never hated games that got good reviews? I know I have. Have you never liked games that got bad reviews? I know I have. Stop being so rigid about it.

Darkwatchman3628d ago

I have literally discovered some of my favorite games by looking at Amazon or going to a game store and picking out a random game I'm otherwise not interested in or that I heard got bad reviews. That's how I've discovered some of my favorite games.

GamePeace3628d ago (Edited 3628d ago )

Sounds nice and all, but gaming does cost money. Maybe we're in a different financial situation, but I have to be careful with how much I spend into this hobby of mine (of course I have a handful of other hobbies too). I too would like to play more games, but I lack the money more often.

My standards may seem "absurd" to you, but for me they work.

You ask me if I didn't enjoy some games that got good reviews? There were many I couldn't really enjoy despite the good reviews. To name a few: MGS V: The Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 (just to name a few bigger titles).

Not everything that is praised by many or the press is automatically good or a quality product.

Nice to see the disagrees, some people seem to know better what I like and where I live.

sammarshall1023628d ago

Many review scores are flawed nowadays so I don't trust them

CYCLEGAMER3628d ago

@gamepeace
Its obvious that you have not been gaming very long. If you have to actually wait on other peoples opinion in order for you to see if this is a game that YOU will like. I have seen games with low scores that i have enjoyed and games with high scores that i didnt....NEVER rely on someone else to tell you if you should like a game or not, especially a small indie that wont cost more than $20 usd

Looks really good. Can't wait

gangsta_red3628d ago

Fantastic! Like a cocaine, LSD fueled Saturday night in the Mission!

I'm glad they added actual platforming to this game, job well done.

I'm beyond excited for it! Any news about a story mode? Or cartoon like chapters? I remember the boss fight from last E3, so I'm hoping that there's a campaign styled layout to it.

Christopher3628d ago

IIRC, those boss fights are more like Titan Souls. They're there for the challenge and interest, not for the story.

jb2273628d ago

Same here, the platforming & traditional levels takes the game from a potential great start to a potential great game. The bosses all looked really cool, but I need me some levels as a build up to those bosses.

Easily one of the most interesting games hitting XBO...really hope we see a Rayman sequel announced this year so I can get some quality platforming in seeing as how I don't have an XBO or PC...

sammarshall1023628d ago

The platforming was the last thing I needed to see before deciding to purchase this beauty

Big_Game_Hunters3628d ago

I agree, i'll hold off until i see more since this is clearly an early level. Will probably play just for the bosses though.

Christopher3628d ago

That specific platforming wasn't great, but the game looks great, sounds great, and the boss battles I've seen were very interesting. Hopefully this platforming shown was just a basic one.

souldestroyer143628d ago

Yea the platforming looks pretty basic it looks like it could have been the first level
