"AMD have revealed their next flagship GPU in the RX 480 "

Dear lord...is this for real? The 480 a flagship? At 200 bucks no less? Its not even the most powerful AMD card out.

The 480 is AMD's new low-mid-range card on a new die.

Note to author: Its called Google search, look it up, its great...

But you don't understand it's flagship becasue 2 of them outperform the 1080 on a single test game that catered to crossfire!

LOL dem arguments xD
Don't get me wrong, that's great and all. But not all games support crossfire/sli. So it is a silly test.

It's pretty cool that the card out performs the 980, It would have been EVEN MORE AMAZING if their $200 card came out at the time as 980 did like over 2 years ago. AMD would have annihilated nvidia. But, too little, too late imo.

This is however great news for consoles, just one or two of these bad boys in there, then you got a half decent console =D

My brother decided to get rid of the Crossfire configuration because a lot of games didn't support it. NTM it put more load on the cpu and power supply and sometimes the drivers wouldn't install right. He actually had to buy another power supply for Crossfire setup. The performance with one card was actually better in games. But I guess it depends on the card

Sunny,

Vega has a chance to bring some equilibrium. We will see soon enough

iDadio3622d ago (Edited 3622d ago )

Its not going to be something people upgrade into unless they are already on something <960, but I think it will do well as a budget option for new builds or a cheap way to play VR.

Still awaiting benchmarks properly but some have quoted a single card to hit performances slightly higher than a 970? If that is the case then it is decent bang for your buck.

Still going for the 1070 or 1080 myself but that's because I'm a shameless NVidia bot :)

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing8d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit8d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing8d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster928d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
