No. This is a stupid, stupid idea. They can literally not improve on it. Chrono trigger is damn near perfect, marking the high point of the subgenre like 20 years after it's release. There is next to nothing that could be changed that would be a change for the better, and even if there was something it would still serve to piss everyone off just by being different.

It's a once in a lifetime miracle game created by a perfect storm of circumstance. It cannot be recreated, don't even try.

I like the crispy pixels of the original. If they were to remake it, I'd like the graphics to be pretty textured and detailed, rather than having that smooth ps2-look that a game like, say, I Am Setsuna has. In other words, I'd want a remake to be pretty up to date. Also, I'm not likely to play the original again for a while, because I've played it several times, but I'd definitely play a remake in a heartbeat.

More importantly though, I think a remake could lead, finally, to Chrono 3.

We've already had a remake of Chrono Trigger on the DS.

I'd prefer of Square Enix to finally port FFXII to modern platforms.

Why not just make a new game of it rather than a remake ?

If this would be remade in 3D it would have to be in the style of say the latest DQ games? But don't change anything in terms of story or gameplay. It's perfect.

I don't trust SE with it these days. They will try and make it action heavy and probably replace the art with Nomura's dull crap of black and belts and zippers. Then make it a 10 episode game or something you need to be online to play. If they contracted Mistwalker or heck even Monolith (some CT in XB series since some of the same talent) then yeah.
