Will No Man’s Sky Be A Failure?

As you no doubt know by now, No Man’s Sky is a space exploration title with an incomprehensible open-world universe that you can explore. Everything is procedurally generated and it is being touted as a true space exploration game. However, the marketing for the game has put the seed of doubt into many people’s heads and Hello Games have some unique problems that they face. The game has very recently been delayed to August which apparently set the internet on fire with people sending death threats to Sean Murray, the creator, and even to the journalists that reported on it. It seems there’s some violent fans of the yet unreleased game, but even they have to admit that No Man’s Sky looks slightly shaky. I guess what I’m trying to say is that No Man’s Sky does have the potential to be a fantastic title, but it also runs the risk of being a complete failure. Let’s look into the latter some more.

Honestly, I haven't seen anything from No Man's Sky that makes it a must play game for me. It's an interesting concept but I'm not a fan of exploration just for exploration's sake, I like my games to have a beginning and an end.

Sales wise it will sell a lot since its been over hyped from day one.

But I think after a month or so people will put it down and get bored with it...I know it has a gazzillion planets but how many can we visit before they all start feeling the same with minor changes to some.

Exploring is fun but that can also get tiring after awhile.

SolidStoner3633d ago

will it be a failure...? Yes, for those who dont have a PS4 it definitely will...

if this game would be PC only I bet it would be a whole different article :D

It does have a beginning and a end, if you were more keen of exploring like say facts, you would know this. But in stead you apparently like to comment ignorantly.

"It does have a beginning and an end"...

So then you take what they said about beginning and end @face value?, I don't.

Doubt it, so much time, money and energy has been afforded to this title, failure is unlikely.

Although anything is possible, I think from what we have seen, NMS is looking to be a great game.

This has the potential to be a flop sales wise but a gem with a solid number of gamers. I just dont think this game has mass appeal. Day 1 for me

People will be screaming letdown week one. NMS is just way too ambitious and they made the mistake of showing gameplaying far too early. Imo

Goldby3633d ago

why is an exploration game too ambitious?

if people are expecting huge space battles, they should be looking at EVE, if people want to build houses, look to Minecraft. Gameplay hasnt, at least in my eyes,

as for showing off too early, unfortetly as all powerful as Sean's beard is, it wasn't able to predict the flooding they had just after reveal. that was a huge hit in development timeline

ManAnimalX3631d ago

I think they made the mistake of not showing "enough" of what the full game entails, ..there must not be that much to it to keep it a secret. Too much hype, not enough substance or details .

Like some are saying, "How long is this game going to keep my interest before I get bored?"

The Devil is in the details....
