8 Worst PS4 Games So Far

GuidesCloud: Below is given the list of 8 worst PlayStation 4 games so far. We don’t want more games in this list because the technical team must now focus more on resolving all the issues before a game is marketed because that leaves the negative impression on the minds of PS4 fans.

Knack and The Order 1886, right ones

Alexander1Nevermind3647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

Never played the Order but Knack was a good game imo. I enjoyed it more than Killzone Shadow Fall. I really don't understand all the hate it gets. It makes me wonder how many of you all actually played the game?

Slight edit: Not directed at the op just wondering if folks just jump on the hate bandwagon. I don't Judge Ryse or the Order because I haven't played them. I do agree SW Battefront was very disappointing indeed.

Aloy-Boyfriend3647d ago

I dunno what people expected from Knack to have become the punching bag of the PS haters and even fans. I thought it wqs a good couch co op launch game. It had flaws, but I had fun with it with my brother. It was a good throwback to the old days...

I could see whst Cerny and the team wanted to achieve with Knack. I think a sequel can be better

nX3647d ago

Clearly fanboy flamebait, there are much worse PS4 games than Driveclub, The Order 1886 and Knack.

jeenyus3647d ago

Not sure if there are many games on any PlayStation that are worse than Knack.
After all the hype it got, we got served some subpar PS1-like gameplay with gfx that were below PS3 day 1 releases.

You might have enjoyed it, it doesn't make it good. At all.

guitarded773647d ago

When Knack, Driveclub and The Order are considered your "worst games", I'd say you're doing pretty damn good. Not gonna say any of them were game of the year material, but I played all 3 and didn't think they were horrible.

uth113647d ago

Agreed. I enjoyed and finished knack, I had no idea it was a bad game until I later read it on the internet :p

bouzebbal3646d ago

omg the writer is such a moron..
DriveClub is the best racer i played since MK8.
Knack is an old school action platformer. if it's hard for him the i can understand it's one of the worst games.
And then he adds some games to the list that no one ever heard of, just to make it sound like he knows his shit. You fail you imbecile.

Ashlen3647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

The Order is not bad.

I assume most people who would say it's one of the worst games haven't actually played it. The only thing really wrong with it is how short it is. The gameplay is good, the graphics and detail are off the charts and the story while lacking due to game length was interesting and could have really gone somewhere.

Knack, well, it was a rushed launch title so they could offer at least one family friendly game. It's not great but it is what it is.

Next_gen_20153647d ago

I dont think any Ps4 exclusive has been terrible. The low rated ones are just generic or too short

Ashlen3647d ago

Well... The Order was far from generic as far as the story went... I can't think of any other game set in an alternate 1800's Britain. And it's pretty much the same length and Ryse and the gameplay part of Quantum Break.

And Knack, again it was just a game for people to buy so the kids could have a game to play with the families new PS4.

But w/e everyone has their opinions.

Devilsknight3647d ago

Like in Chapter 7 where you pressed 🔺 once and walked forward for 2 min? Or the Chapter where you rotate a clock and watch a cutscene? Indeed, real great gameplay right there.
The Order was good looking and nothing else. The story was filled with holes and rather poorly written. "I have to show u something, follow me for 10 min to find it what it is. No, I cant say what it is, no time, lets talk about something else" Zzzzzzzz. Or the linear map design...

Nah. The Order was crap, this coming from a PS4 only owner. A polished turd is still a turd.

Orionsangel3647d ago

I still say The Order is a good game. It was just never finished. It ends abruptly. It's as if the developers ran out of money. It's a shame, I was getting into the characters and story. It needed at least 5 more hours, but it just ends all of sudden leaving so many plot holes in the story.

MollieRose3646d ago

My Best friend makes $96/hour on the internet. She has been laid off for six months but last month her paycheck was $12800 just working on the internet for a few hours. you have nothing to lose... Read more on this web site.. Go to tech tab for work detail... www.earnmore9.com

DarXyde3647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

The Order wasn't perfect and it left a lot to be desired, but I surmise the bulk of the disappointment comes from it being released as it was well beyond the launch window. It's incredibly beautiful, but short and shallow.

Be that as it may, I'd be hard pressed to call it one of the worst titles on the console. It has redeeming qualities and was made by a very capable studio. I think "disappointing" better describes what it was.

S2Killinit3646d ago

I couldnt even call it dissapointing as it has been one of my favorite games this generation. The smear campaign was dissapointing. The game is beautiful with some of the most fun gun battles i've experienced. I loved the story, it was unique and i hope there are sequels. The graphics are probably second only to Uncharted, and it had an original orchestral score which was awesome. All the bitching was instigated by the early smear campaign. "Its too short" even though its the same lenght as gears of war, quantum break etc. "it doesnt innovate" even thiugh it actually DOES. (Well more than some other games), "it doesnt have gameplay" well thats just wrong because at no point did i feel like i was playing a movie even though i was waiting for it since i had heard the rumours. Basically people like Stupid above are lying through their teeth.

S2Killinit3646d ago

@stupid
You are a lier. There is no way in hell the order should be concidered a bad game. People like you are are blatantly lying to peoppe, shame on you.

blackblades3646d ago

This article is stupid opinions, I like driveclub and I like onechanbara.

BlackTar1873646d ago (Edited 3646d ago )

Knack was Okay but Driveclub was a great game. The rest of the list i agree with

The Order 1886 should be on number one

magiciandude3647d ago

The Order 1886 deserves #1 spot for being the worst AAA game this generation.

nX3647d ago

^Watch Dogs was way worse. I prefer a short game to one I can't even force myself to finish. I'm pretty sure The Order1886 wouldn't get so much hate if it was 5-10 hours longer.

CernaML3646d ago

@magician

I guess that makes Ryse the worst AAAA game of this generation then, eh? :^)

Pancit_Canton3647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

@magiciandude

Quantum Break deserves that title, followed by Ryse.

killer_goat3647d ago

That and Ryse. Both terrible games

Next_gen_20153647d ago (Edited 3647d ago )

How can quantum break be a terrible game if it has a higher meta score than The order and knack?

Ponies going crazy

ChrisW3647d ago

Not too certain if you noticed, but the title says PS4... Or you did notice and simply don't care...

Waterfall1013646d ago

they both destroy the order i mean come on lol

PrinterMan3647d ago

To each their own but I've played through the order twice and started a third. Story is good, characters are good, game is visually great. A little on rails but it's a story driven game and I knew that going in so I take no issue with it.

Yui_Suzumiya3646d ago

Maybe number 1 on a best list. Your comment definitely smells of number 2 xD

Deadpooled3647d ago

This. So disappointed with how that turned out, so much potential. Even if DICE literally gave a graphical boost to Battlefront 2 it would have been a much better game, but now with this impostor of a Battlefront game the player count has dropped significantly (now lower than Battlefield 4).

Bahamut3647d ago

Not a "ps4 game" though. Multiplat. But yeah, disappointing game.

PressPlayBro3646d ago

Title didn't say "Worst PS4 Exclusives So Far".

Bahamut3646d ago

@PressPlayBro

That's what was implied, obviously. Look at the list, see any that aren't exclusive?

CrimsonWing693647d ago

Man, I'm so sorry but this site is a mess with advertisements. Count me out.

travestyj3647d ago

Don't worry you didn't miss much. List isn't even accurate.

Lighter93647d ago

I just looked at the games that were tagged at the top of the page. ;)

modelgod3646d ago

@crimsonWing69 lol!! You know what it is? We're smarter than these ppl!!! It's frustrating because their the ones whose opinions have far more reach than ours and it sucks. Everyone who frequented N4G are pretty intelligent ppl; rather if the comments are consistent with YOUR console of choice or not. Why can't one, or a few of you highly intellectual, beautiful human beings design a site where REAL video game enthusiasts such as myself can thrive in the forms of reviews or other video game related issues?

Knack still makes me cringe to this day.

Phar0ahad33646d ago

What does that even mean ? what kind of hatred have you developed for this game have you even played it ?

NotanotherReboot3646d ago

I bought it day 2 with my Ps4. Check my trophies (Frinker)

jznrpg3646d ago

Take it out of your *** . It wasnt bad-

Orionsangel3646d ago

I called Knack being crap when they announced. It was a throw away launch title much like 360's forgetable launch title, Kameo: Elements of Power. It's generic fluff that supposed to show you what the console can do, but both these titles left us yawning.

NotanotherReboot3646d ago

Kameo has a lot more depth, variety and better gameplay, story and characters. Knack isn't awful, but it's insanely mediocre.

Everyone's Talking About DriveClub Again, PS4's Underappreciated Racer

In this day and age, it’s rare we experience a warm fuzzy feeling when we boot up X (formerly known as Twitter, of course).

But the past few days have been lovely: our feed is full of people talking about DriveClub again.

The discussion started when someone posted a clip of the game and its infamous rain effects. The caption reads: “Still can’t believe this is a 12 year old game.”

darthv7253d ago

This was one I was hoping would have some kind of boost from the PS5. The devs locked that sucker so tight...

I play the PSVR one even though it doesn't look as good, because that one is 60fps.

fr0sty52d ago

To this day, there still hasn't been a game to pull off better rain effects.

Cacabunga52d ago

Evolution Studios.. another waste of talent

fr0sty52d ago

I interviewed them twice back in my gaming journalist days... Once at E3 2006 and again on a podcast about a year later. Really nice folks.

fr0sty51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

The guy we interviewed both times' name was Simon, I can't remember his last name, it was 20 years ago, but he was a really nice guy, and was very passionate about his job. It broke my heart when I saw Sony shuttered Evolution. I do hope they bring some of those folks back, but I remember another studio ended up hiring most of them back in those days, and they've been releasing new games since under that studio... Codemasters, maybe? I forgot which....

But the amount of talent that Sony has shut down over the years, it's disturbing. Psygnosis, Evolution, Zipper... just those three studios produced some of the most innovative games that PlayStation has ever seen... and those games need to be brought back.

Agent7551d ago

Driveclub VR was graphically tragic.

maximusprime_53d ago

If they were to release that game on the PlayStation 5, there would be absolutely no need for a remaster or a remake. The whole appeal of the original game was that it consistently exceeded people's expectations.

fr0sty52d ago

Higher rendering res and textures, higher framerate, maybe toss in some global illumination/ray tracing, but other than that, they could keep every polygon the same and it would still look absolutely incredible as a current gen title.

Reaper22_52d ago

That game has good graphics but bad AI, though.

Agent7551d ago

The AI was what I'd call aggressive, but superb to play.

Jin_Sakai53d ago

Sony should reassemble the team and make Driveclub 2. Driveclub was so ahead of its time it’s crazy.

lodossrage53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

This is what I hate about gamers sometimes

There is a segment of gaming communities that always want an old game to come back. But when the game(s) were in their prime, nobody supported them or not enough people supported them. Driveclub, Killzone, Resistance, etc all fit that profile.

I want Driveclub, Killzone, Resistence, and etc all back too. But I say that as someone that bought into, played, and own those games.

Too many people like to talk but not put up the money to support when it's needed. I even lump two of my own personal friends into that. I remember how one of them constantly said "I always wanted to play the Resistance games", yet never made an effort to buy any of them. No way that's an isolated event.

IanTH51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

There are certainly games that fit that description, but I'm not sure these are a good fit:

- Driveclub infamously launched in a truly terrible state. It had a central focus on online & social features, and those were broken for about 6+ months before people could reliably play it as intended. It was so bad that the PS Plus Edition was delayed, along with its companion app. It also released less than a year after the PS4 launch, so it had to deal with a smaller total of launch PS4 owners to sell to, and Driveclub's rough launch certainly did it no favors.
- Resistance got 3 main console entries, and one handheld title for the PSP and PS Vita. Killzone got 5 main console entries across 3 generations, and one handheld title for PSP and PS Vita. This was also the era of millions of shooters, especially of the First Person variety, & genre fatigue was getting heavier by the year. So I feel these did pretty good at 5 and 7 titles respectively, pointing to enough people showing up for at least a while.

I'm not saying people don't exist who fit that criteria for these games, but I also don't think they were the primary issue. I think after a solid break from the IPs, as well as a lessening of shooter oversaturation, these titles could find healthy audiences if they came out with new entries at this point.

Agent7551d ago

Killzone on the PS4 had the graphics, but the gameplay was tragic, I only rated Killzone 3, although the first game on the PS2 was decent. The Getaway was another game Sony canned, the sequel was so bad. Plenty of games need a sequel, the likes of Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Project Gotham, Wave Race and F-Zero have been retired. The racing genre these days, I'm sick of Turismo and Forza due to the same tracks and any other clones.

robtion52d ago

I think the original Motorstorm was the game that convinced me to buy a ps3. Way ahead of its time.

Storm2352d ago

I played the sh*t out of MotorStorm 1 and 2. Incredible games.

darthv7252d ago

Pacific Rift was the best of the bunch for me.

badz14951d ago

Pacific Rift for me is still the best off-road racer ever made

Agent7551d ago

Surprised Sony didn't release a collectio, but all they seem to do these days is release God of War and Uncharted collections. It kills me that I no longer have a PS3, so a collection would be awesome.

The Order: 1886 Sequel Would Have Featured Larger-Scale Battles & Multiplayer

A sequel to Sony and Ready At Dawn's action-adventure game, The Order: 1886, would have featured larger-scale battles as well as multiplayer.

I missed it when games use to have a multiplayer to them.
Hope Sony revives the game at one point

KyRo364d ago

Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, TLOU, Motorstorm. Great times. Its a shame how far they've fallen this generation

Muigi364d ago

Oh they still do…its just the whole game now 😂.

-Foxtrot364d ago

Why add multiplayer when the single player (despite enjoying it for what it was) had flaws?

You'd work out the issues with how you craft the single player then once you’ve perfected it do multiplayer after.

RaidenBlack364d ago

https://www.videogameschron...
"Two sequels were planned for the franchise, The Order 1891 and The Order 1899. While the third game was never in development, Weerasuriya says he had planned where the story of the franchise was planned to go, if he had been able to develop the full trilogy."
...
Alas, we'll also might never get the PC version of 1886, which is currently residing in some dev's hard drive, nearly ready for a release if required.

Charal364d ago

It’s a shame we didn’t gave its chance to this franchise.
Game world was very interesting, and gameplay could have evolved to a major hit with sequels.
Not even speaking about graphics that were way ahead of their time.

Reaper22_364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

If "we" is sony, i agree. I liked the game but it was metacritic that contributed to it's death. It's a shame.

AshleeEmerson364d ago

No, we are "us," the gamers who rated it so low on Metacritic, hurting... Killing its sales. I agree it is a shame. I loved this game.

Charal364d ago

No it is not, it is us has a community which crucified this game, which is happening much too often.

CrimsonWing69364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

I think MP being co-op would’ve been awesome. Essentially, I always viewed this as Sony’s take on the Gears series.

However, it really failed to measure up to what I expected. I definitely saw the potential but there were some things that really bogged it down for me like the forced slow walking segments (which I know was to hide loading), the repetitive warehouse werewolf fights, not enough variety in enemies, oddly we fought more humans than Darkstalkers, and the stealth sections were infuriating.

One thing there’s no denying though, this damn game was a looker. Such a shame at the wasted potential.

The Order: 1886, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "After finally playing the now decade-old The Order: 1886, what do I think about it? Is it really worthy of all the hate it has received over the past decade? Or is it some kind of hidden gem? I honestly think it falls somewhere in the middle. I loved the setting, the story is initially fine, the combat isn’t half-bad, and the potential for some awesome world building was there. It was all bogged down by too much ambition against a tight deadline, as well as poor marketing. As a result, it’s short, full of plotholes, infested with QTEs, and not exactly memorable as a whole. As a game you can grab for less than ten bucks today, I absolutely think it’s worth checking out. It’s one hell of a wasted potential, but for such a discount, I had some fun with it, and I’m sure you will too."

Great setting, great graphics, even decent gun play, but what a trash of a game. The fuck were these people thinking? We could've had something like an Alan Wake 2 meets Mass Effect 2 style game. With investigations, creepy locations to uncover and explore, people to talk to and even recruit, clues to uncover and connect, monsters to slay, side quests to get lost in, and a more expansive lore to go with it.

Instead we got a shitty AAAAAAAAA Third Person Pew Pew snoozfest. Awesome.

_SilverHawk_461d ago

The order 1886 was one of the best games I played on ps4. Within a top 5 best ps4 games I'd put the last of us 2, the order 1886, days gone, horizon zero dawn and God of war.

SimpleSlave460d ago

"The order 1886 was one of the best games I played on ps4. Within a top 5 best ps4 games..."

Jesus H. Christ, bud. You just sound like a Sony apologist. What the fuck? Anyways. Good luck with that or whatever.

coolbeans460d ago

God. The "what could've been" you're describing would've been way better than just being the most empty cinematic shooter slop of that generation.

SimpleSlave460d ago

Right? I mean, I can understand people enjoying this thing ironically. Knowing that it sucks but still enjoying it for what it is. I get that. That's fine. We all have our guilty pleasure no doubt. But to come here and actually pretend that this is a top 5 PS4 game? Wow!

To pretend that this barely there game is anything more than an "empty cinematic shooter slop of that generation," as you said, is beyond ridiculous. But I guess Self-Awareness is some expensive ass DLC still.

Espangerish460d ago

I really enjoyed this game and also think it was one of the best PS4 games. It’s weird to me that this makes you so angry. I’m not a Sony fan at all by the way, very much pc player.

SimpleSlave460d ago

"and also think it was one of the best PS4 games"
"I’m not a Sony fan at all by the way, very much pc player."

Yeah, OK. You want to lie to yourself? You do you, bud. But like I said to the other Sony apologist, "good luck with that or whatever."

-Foxtrot460d ago

Jesus, it had some flaws but you're acting like it was unplayable.

It built a foundation, a rocky one but a sequel is where they could have refined things.

Personally my only issue is I feel like the "Gears of War" like over the shoulder gameplay, especially getting into cover and the like didn't really fit the game as much. In Gears you understand that kind of gameplay because they are wearing super heavy amour and guns but in the Order these guys are super human, they should feel more of a breeze to control, easily jumping over things and being allowed to climb whatever similar to Uncharted.

Im back again to simp for The Order, if ya like games well grounded in their reality with consistency in everything it does then I recommend it if ya haven't played it. Play it thru emulation or on your PS it don't matter just play it.

1nsomniac461d ago (Edited 461d ago )

A great game run down by the media for it's price vs length - Which was understandable, but it shouldn't of been the be all and end all.

At the right price this was a great game & deserved a sequel!

thorstein461d ago

Exactly. What a weird metric that suddenly was important and then, within a few months, no longer mattered.

andy85461d ago

I enjoyed this. I think the complaints were the length if I remember. Nothing wrong with a short good game, at least to physical copy owners 😅

Rebel_Scum460d ago
