I just read the interview a few hours ago and i have to say it was one of the best interviews i've ever read. I've seen some good video interviews but i've never read one quite as good as that one. But anywho on this whole NG vs DMC vs GoW thing i think it's pretty moot. Everyone likes each one for different reasons. I personally think GoW apes both of them because it has a much better story, better boss battles and feels more satisfying playing. That's not a discredit on either NG or DMC both two equally great action games. Some people like NG more because of it's old school difficulty and complex fighting system. Others like DMC more because of it's stylistic approach and deep combo system.

I think when discussing them it's hard to remember that ALL of them are great action games. Except maybe DMC4 which was a near carbon copy of DMC3 with prettier graphics and dumbed down difficulty.

I've never played a GoW, but I've played and own Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma owns it by far.

I have to say GOW beats out them out both imo it just has such an epic feel to it thanks to its awsome story line.

I like Ninja Gaiden and God of War unlike a lot of people. Ninja Gaiden is challenging and a true test. I buckle down to get ready to play it. While God of War is a more chill, have fun and beat sh*t up and savor the moment. Both are very good in my opinion. DMC just plain out sucks IMO. Probably the only long running series I hate from Capcom. I am looking forward to Bayonetta.

GoW is the most polished gratifying and ascessible action game I've ever played. Yes ever. I played NG Black it was great but "the gods of olympus have abandoned me" was like my dream game like zelda for older folks.

the only thing i can understand is NG's craptastic story, it sux bad, and even tho devil may crys story sux too its presentation is amazing, but dmc is really way to easy, enemies just watch their friends die, god of war, ugggh sorry but i cant stand kratos and the game is waaaaaaaaaay to easy, i might have died once playing both gow 2. i just play it cuz the game is sorta entertaining (the duel part) w/e lol mix all 3, NG gameplay, dmc story, GOW puzzles and there we go perfect.

i think dmc creator doesnt wanna play NG cuz he doesnt wanna feel outdone in gameplay department, he has no right to say no ones pushed the action game genre when he never played ng, atleast itagaki played the games he doesnt like.

Devil May Cry Creator 'Not Interested' in Ninja Gaiden

Yeah of course he hasn't. No wonder his games have sh1t for AI. Seriously. You have to crank DMC all the way to DMD mode to get any challenge. And still then, the enemies are vegetables; all they do is do ridiculous amounts of damage.

He hasn't played Ninja Gaiden because he knows it PWNS Devil May Cry HARD in the gameplay department. The one thing I like about Itagaki is that if he trashes your game, he has at least played it, and there is usually at least some truth to what he is saying. He's a coward. He knows what Itagaki is saying about DMC is true. He knows that if he plays Ninja Gaiden, he's not gonna have any way to argue about which game is superior because he will get owned. Simple.

I have NG Sigma and it blows some serious balls. No match for DMC, not to speak GOW.

arrogant and unappreciative...give that Ninja Gaiden laid the grown work for Devil May Cry. I am talking about the original Ninja Gaiden from the NES days. Anyhow...to be honest, I hear more talk about Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 than I do Devil May Cry...which is said since it has 4 incarnations....versus Ninja Gaiden's 2. I think all the games are good to great based on what they are trying to accomplish.

Having played all three series including NG2, I would rate them like this:

GOW2 > GOW1 > DMC3 > NGB > DMC1 > NG2 > DMC4 > DMC2

NG2 isn't all that special, it lacks polished and is much more forgiving than the past game. But Capcom dropped the ball with DMC4 as well. It's such a ridiculous game, it's real gameplay without the looping/backtracking/recycling of the same boss fights would have probably been 4 hours, and should have deserved the same fate as Too human imo.

Wonderful interview, and I can see why he would be frustrated in terms of game development.

The goal should be to take the idea and move to the next level with it. God of War is a prime example as noted. As the second one featured many tweaks and upgrades that when compaired to the first we wonder why we put up with less.

Unfortunatly people are to busy trying to take that package..repackage it and sell it as new. That's not progress, thats not creative, and it leads to bad games.
