They might as well. I loved the sci fi weapons, and there wasn't much of a story. The sky is the limit with this stuff. The monsters were awesome. Quake 2's multiplayer was epic. They can just weave whatever beautiful tail they want to into that crazy cool world and it would be something I'd buy. I bought both expansion packs back in the day.

Just need to see if they can get NIN to come do their soundtrack again, otherwise it's totally recyclable with retro style.

The lack of story in the old games makes for better reboot potential in my opinion. I never got into Quake 3 or 4, so I guess I am imagining a super polished alternate Quake 2 with a good sprinkling of the best of Quake 1.

That might just bring Trent Reznor out of retirement. Maybe.

Sooooo....
You dont follow NIN???

ScreenCritics3647d ago

I like that idea actually. Quake 1 was always the most fun for me (I'm not a huge lover of story in my FPS) but I can totally understand why 2/3 were so well loved.

I was never keen on Quake 4 though. It went too realistic and lost a lot of the charm.

Quake reboot would have good potential. Imagine Doom reboot but with a -probably- better multiplayer and even less story

I hope they keep the weird semi-gothic futuristic setting though (basically NOT like Q4). I also hope they give it the tightest controls in the history of tight controls. There must not be any trace of smoothing

Doom remake was great, but I think it's clear to us and to the team that it could definitely be improved. Loadouts and demon form in multiplayer were a mistake. A proper, ultra-competitive arena shooter formula with some fresh new elements (like new team-focused game modes) would've been the way to go. Also personally, I wasn't a big fan of the glory kills. You just end up using them on almost every enemy, and it kinda breaks your momentum

Yes. I loved Quake 3 back in the day. Still liked UT more but Quake was always a great time.

After the Doom reboot, I'm definitely all for a Quake reboot.

Quake 5 is supposedly going to be the next game id develops

Godmars2903647d ago

So now people are asking ID, sans Carmack btw, to reinvent and revamp co-op.

ScreenCritics3647d ago

If DOOM lacked one key feature, it was a proper co-op mode. That could very well be the killer Quake feature.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
