We can now confirm that Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky will now release on August 9th. The leak was rumoured earlier on the week via in-store communication sent from Sony to US retailer Gamestop.

Sounds good to me! If polishing is needed, then August it is. Day one for me!

Its quite interesting to see developers really doing whats best for the game and the fans. Reading his bost on PSblog actually makes me even more excited for the game.

Like Miyamoto said "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is bad forever"
It's something that was heavily understated last generation when developers thought that they can simply patch their games after release. I will probably never forgive EA for rushing the BF4 launch with severe technical issues or the Battlefront launch with only half the content you would expect from a full priced title. I wouldn't be mad at all if they had delayed both of these games to release a better product, therefore I'm not mad that NMS is now releasing 2 months later... I mean you shouldn't play such a time intensive game during summer anyway :P

@nX
Yeah, I think its way better now than last gen. Back then, people became hyped, got the game on launch -> discovered it was a broken mess -> whining ensued and very few could have fun.

Now games are constantly getting delayed, but they are also hell of a lot better and many are pretty polished. People still whine and some are annoyed, but at least everybody will be satisfied in the end.

I love how this site attempts to report on PlayStation products while pretending to be unbiased even though being funded by MS.
They should just stop though. I never seen an "independent" journalist site execute such sly attempts at pseudofanboy trolling

Wonder if it's enough to fix all of the screen tearing and framerate issues.

While polishing is always good. A game like this getting delayed all the time makes people feel it was too ambitious from the start. It worries me that there was too much hype to begin with. I am sadly disappointed at this news and just hope it comes out in august and working.

freshslicepizza3653d ago

they are a small team so we should give them some flexibility but i still think they will delay it again for a closer release to psvr. you also have to consider what the ps4 exclusive line-up looks like and maybe they want extra room for them. i know madden comes out but that shouldn't impact sales

Eonjay3653d ago

@moldybread

That actually popped in my head as well. But after reading his statement, it sounds like he wants to sincerely live up to the lofty expectations. Being that this is the game he has always wanted to make, I can't but help to respect his decision.

donthate3653d ago

That is exactly how I feel when games get delayed year after year, and then again. Reminds me of Mighty No. 9.

I hope this isn't a bad sign, but the other thing is people loose interest after a while. This game is hyped up to oblivion so....

isarai3653d ago

"delayed all the time"? This is literally the first delay this game has had, taking your time to announce a release date after reveal =/= delay. And seriously i think every game is entitled to 1-2 delays so long as both aren't extensive, if this gets another delay longer than a month then it's time to be worried

freshslicepizza3653d ago

it was scheduled to come out in 2015 but we al know that didn't happen,

http://www.kdramastars.com/...

this is the first official delay but the road for release has been bumpy to say the least. this is actually more in the lines of star citizen where the project has become more and more ambitious while the hype has also gone up to what i think are unreacheable expectations now.

I'm guessing the real issue here is online infrastructure and not actual game issues. That small of a bump in date really won't give them that 'time' to fix any bug that would delay a game.

Dark_Knightmare23653d ago (Edited 3653d ago )

The last of us was delayed three weeks and ND has said that is when the game came together and that they really needed those three weeks. I Def believe this being an almost two month delay will give them time to fix anything that may need fixing and to polish

attilayavuzer3652d ago

To be fair, TLOU's team was much bigger than NMS's

Sucks but if they need the time what can I do but wait.

Paganostaghetti3653d ago

I can wait. If Hello needs more time, I don't see why we should make them rush it out sooner than they want.
