Well it's the reason I have yet to buy it, will get it if it ever gets SP content

_-EDMIX-_3659d ago (Edited 3659d ago )

Well, the reason I've yet to buy a MOBA is because I don't like them....should they turning story based RPGs then?

You won't buy it based on what it currently is. That merely means its not for you, not that the game must be something else to work.

I don't want titles like Horizon Zero Dawn having MP focused modes, the same way I don't want titles like Overwatch having SP content.

Not really the main concept, thus don't care. I'm buying Horizon Zero Dawn because it is a SP focused RPG, I'm buying BF1 because I just want to play its MP.

If the team never made it to be a SP game, I don't care what they tack on or force on for sales.

JUST like I wouldn't care much for Horizon Zero Dawn's MP mode if it had one, if they made it to be a SP RPG, that is what I want to play, anything else is irrelevant to me most times.

Just because you like SP, doesn't mean you like all crappy SP that is rushed and a shooting gallery to add a bullet point on the box for extra sales.

You think Dead Space fans loved its MP?
You think BF MP fans loved its SP?

As a fan of MP, I want Dead Space to just be about Dead Space, no MP, it was bad and such a waste.
As a fan of SP, I want BF to just about BF, as its SP was just bad and that wasn't what I was playing it for.

Just because I like MP, doesn't mean Dead Space 2's was just AMAZING to me.
Just because I like SP doesn't mean Battlefield's was just AMAZING to me.

Dead Space 2's MP was not Team Fortress or Battlefield level
Battlefield's SP was not Bioshock or Half Life level...

Thus...who cares? Its a disrespect to those that actually respect a quality single player to just assume having it means its a day 1.

I'd like to believe we play games based on quality, not really based on lack of multiplayer or singleplayer etc.
I won't be buying The Last Of Us 2 for its MP lol, but I wouldn't expect Naughty Dog to just top DICE in an area they've basically perfected.

JUST LIKE I won't be buying Battlefield 1 this fall for its SP, but I wouldn't expect DICE to just top Naughty Dog in an area they've basically perfected. Its a disrespect to BOTH teams to just think another team can shoehorn in a mode to beat another team, at something they specialize in. You can't tack on a SP mode and think you can beat Naughty Dog, you can't tack on a MP mode and think you can be DICE. Its again a disrespect to both respective teams.

Wow! Well said your points were sound I agree with everything you said. That dead space 2 multiplayer.....

Nitrowolf23659d ago

I feel like I only really want it now after they had released all those kick a $$ cinematic story videos.I think a sp would be nice to have as I would love to learn more about these awesome characters

Poli_Games3659d ago

Do you guys think that games need a story in order for a game to be worth 60 bucks? Or is it all about how good the content is in the game?

Khaotic3659d ago

For me it's about quality and fun. If I can put 100+ hours into a game and have a blast playing then it's a no brainer for me. All games I have purchased I have put in 60+ hours in each one and that's worth 60 dollars to me all day.

_-EDMIX-_3659d ago

lol "All games I have purchased I have put in 60+ hours in each one and that's worth 60 dollars to me all day"

I wish I could say that! For me, 40 hours many times its worth it. I put like 20 hours in Battlefront and was fine with what I got from it. Some MP titles don't get me like others do so its pretty hard to grab me like other titles in the past.

I'd say only Battlefield has that with me in regards to 200 or more hours ever entry.

I agree though, if the game is fun for what it is, so be it. I don't feel a game needs a "story" to be fun as back in the day, MOST games didn't even have anything remotely story based compared today besides RPGs.

Folks can even look back at reviews of Metal Gear Solid 1 to see just how rare it was for a game to have a story such as that in a game. It was not the norm and is still not the norm in terms of all games.

Its more so the norm with action, adventure etc, but long ago, it was quite rare, but we still had MP only titles.

Fist4achin3659d ago

I think as it stands now, it is worth the 60 bucks. Im sure people will get tons of hours of gameplay out of it. However, I'm not much into online gaming anymore, so I won't be picking it up unless there is a SP mode. I prefer to be told an awesome story these days.

hells_supernova3659d ago

No not at all.

The game I have played the most hours in is War Thunder, no single player campaign in that and I have put well over 100 hours into it.

As long as the content there is plentiful and good I have no problem with a multiplayer only game charging that aka Battlefield 1942.

BrianOBlivion3659d ago

Uh, if they want my money, then yes (and from all the other people who are not interested in MP -there are a lot of us you know).

_-EDMIX-_3659d ago

I mean...that is a moot point. It means nothing to the team.

That is like saying, "if they want my money" it needs to be an RPG, turned based etc lol

Then it wasn't for you, move on. Not interested in MP only, then.......well you are not interested in MP only lol

I don't know what to tell you, the team's job was to craft a MP only game, not a SP only or RPG or sports game or racing game etc lol

BrianOBlivion3659d ago (Edited 3659d ago )

"moot" as in up for debate?
I'm not interested in the team. I don't mean to be rude (honestly), but did you miss the part where the question was posed "Is An Overwatch Singleplayer Campaign Really Necessary?".
My answer was about as concise as I can get.

opinionated3659d ago

I've only played the betas but Overwatch was more fun in terms of gameplay. Battleborn had more value in terms of content and co-op features. Battleborn is going for like 35 bucks now, it doesn't take long.

I think Overwatch would have been better with more co-op or horde modes. Those are my favorite mp types. That would have been enough for me to buy it at launch. A "story mode" isn't really necessary imo but there are other ways to add online value.

Poli_Games3659d ago

I would love with Overwatch had a horde mode!!! That'd be sweet! I'm glad you're enjoying Battleborn!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio33d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing33d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9233d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit33d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing33d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9233d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
