Gamebug: This week we finally saw the resurgence of one of gaming’s most beloved franchises; as Bethesda’s Doom hit the stores. Our review is not far off, but many colleagues of mine came away disappointed with the Beta. Many said that it just doesn’t feel like Doom. The mixing of old school shooter techniques and those of current games has lead to a disappointing experience for long-term fans.
For many this is no surprise, in this day and age imagining that a reboot will encapsulate all that was loved about the original is often met with disappointment. For every XCOM: Enemy Unknown, there is a Syndicate or Bionic Commando there to remind us that recapturing the feeling of an old game in the current AAA market is nearly impossible.
Evercade has teased a new DOOM release for their platform.
I hope they make a Doom themed VS unit with red lighting. it will be like the Duke 3d one they did a couple years ago.

Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

The video game industry is already so creative, but one thing that can be improved is its handling of space.
After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.
It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.
I'm still having a hard time understanding who the people that say they are devout are upset with this game.
Are people comparing the new Doom to DOOM 3? It feels like the way some people talk about their disappointment is that they wanted a completely vapid experience void of anything new. Why not just play old mods of DOOM if you want it to be EXACTLY like the first. I came away really truly impressed and enjoyed the campaign. I've even gone back to play the old MP on DOOM 1 and DOOM 2. It's cool, but an update isn't that bad. If people want the old. You can still play the old stuff. WIN WIN.
You can play classic DOOM 1 and 2 maps with new Demons and new DOOM guns.
Oh stfu already, it's a great game. If you want Doom with shitty graphics then go play the original.
I have played Doom since the early 90's. Every once in a while I will download it and Doom 2 from Steam (Heretic and Hexen too) and give it another go. Suffice it to say, I am a huge Doom fan. I think the reboot is on point. It is a modern take on the game, but still manages to be faithful to the source material. I don't see why people are complaining about it.
Edit: Now I am thinking about Heretic and Hexen reboots. They wouldn't be able to take my money fast enough.
