Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Review (DarkZero)

Ahmed Mohamed: "A Thief’s End continues series tradition by telling a great character-driven story, but it is in its treasure hunting plot that it surprises and where it far surpasses previous titles as I occasionally found myself more interested with what happens next in the overarching story more than the next great character interaction. Uncharted 4 is a grown up and traveled tale as opposed to the boisterous and over the top nature of Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. The Drake of yesteryear cracking jokes and not taking a moment to think about his next action is still there, but the now-aging legend is shifting his focus away from a life of plundering without regard, even as he yearns for adventures past."

Damn the 10s are still dropping.

It will be A tough year for other developer to top this game in terms of GOTY.

Yeah, ND just raised the bar again.

Hey, I'm the writer of the review. While I did give it a 10, I don't believe it is free from error or criticism if you'd like to read the review to find out how exactly. Having said that, ND are definitely in a class of their own.

I read it and I disagreed with every single flaw that you thought you needed to point out. They weren't just making a game, they wanted to make a story, and stories don't have action shooting scenes all the damn time. The stories that do are usually just plain crap.

I gobbled up every letter and journal entry I found. I took my time and wasn't longing for the next shoot-out. When the game and story decided it was time for a shoot-out, then it was time and I enjoyed the shit out of it. I went into the game not expecting things to happen. I wanted it to lead me. I wanted to experience the story and game in the way that the developers intended.

You say you wanted more Chloe. Others say they wanted more Sully. I say just let them tell their story and stop looking for things to nitpick at. The game is a damned masterpiece. You gave it a 10, but your review reads like a 9. I guess your qualms were small and mattered little in your eyes hence why you gave it a 10.

Naughty Dog made the game they wanted. They told the story they wanted. They could have added heaps more shooting and stuff, but they chose not to. Ask yourself why.

My only tiny insignificant gripe about the game, was -- SPOILER -- when they used the winch on the car the 2nd time and it was obvious the boulder was going to fall. ND obviously wanted that to happen so they could play the scene of them in the jeep nearly falling to their doom. It was so obvious to lift the winch line over the boulder but it wouldn't let me do it, so I could see what was going to happen.

But yes. I really enjoyed your review. I just disagreed with your opinion of it's flaws. But well written.

The only flaw this game has is it has an ending.
I can't get enough of this game. It has so much to offer it's so rich and lots of potential. It's lots of fun game play, jaw dropping visuals, edge-of-your-seat story telling, can't wait to play this again and platinum it.
The shooting levels' design are so much interesting and fun I just can't get enough.
It's so damn great it's screaming for a sequel!
This is why an additional DLC is really warranted. Good thing I had the DLC package pre ordered.
I would love to see a level where in you have no choice but to fight and shoot enemies hanging on them ropes. That will be so much fun!
