Capcom has been developing the next main Resident Evil game for a few years now. According to a Linkedin profile, development actually begun right after the release of Resident Evil 6 in 2012. Also, the publisher has hinted at its development on several occasions.

WTMG's Leo Faria: "It’s been nearly ten years, but Resident Evil 7 hasn’t aged a day. Its brand new Switch 2 port not only showcases that its gameplay is still fresh and tense after all these years, but also showcases how well Nintendo’s portable can handle some of the more demanding games from the previous generation, with a handful of improvements to make it look as good as its current-gen counterparts. There’s also the fact there’s a ton of extra content for you to enjoy, from videos to entire new modes and side campaigns, so this is a worthy inclusion to the Switch 2’s currently minute library, and a great excuse for you to replay one of the most important horror games released in recent memory."

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard returns the series to its horror roots, and on the Nintendo Switch 2, you can take those frights everywhere.
Capcom is bringing both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village to Nintendo Switch next month, and now gameplay has surfaced of both titles running on the hardware. The latest episode of Capcom TV aired this week. During the show, extensive footage of both titles was shown. This is the first time we’ve seen gameplay of the ports.

Smooth gameplay already! So excited for my Generation Pack pre-order. I already platinum RE7 on PS5, but I don't have the chance to play Village.
By the way, the RE7 and RE8 included in Generation Pack are both the Gold Editions.
"They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions."
My enthusiasm for the Resident Evil series has been fading since RE4, but THIS has me excited. Bring back the horror!
If it won't be as gory, unsettling and thematically fulfilling as at least The Evil Within I won't care a bit.
This is new CAPCOM, without Mikami, without Kamiya and without Ueda. We should always remember that. And don't have our hopes up.
What were not sure on is if it'll be any good. I for one hope it is. I know people don't like Resident evil 4 compared to the old school style but it is a great game however I do love the classic Resident evil style but can we really go back to that style in this day and age. Maybe go down the remasters routes 1 and 0 on ps4 old school but with some modernised adjustments or somewhere like 4 but just a classic story. 5/6 just aren't resident evil in anything but name 5 was ok but in the middle of the day?? Whaaa. Go back to some classic shock horrors some cheesy scripts scary, creepy, nightime and just make it a good throw back to the glory days of Resi.
