Save a click. 10-12 hours

Reibooi3664d ago

yeah I have about 14 hours in the game on steam right now and I did a few things in Snapmap and whatnot so knock off a hour or 2 for that and yeah 12 hours is about in the zone. I think I remember Id saying it would be about that long before it came out but It really does depend on the player. You could just blaze through it and not try to find any secrets and it would be a bit shorter. Still I was pleased and will be going back and messing with higher difficulty levels.

I managed to finish it in about 11 hours, great experience, definitely a breath of fresh air after all those copy-paste cod games

My advice to anyone considering the single-player campaign is to start out on Ultra-Violence. It's tough, but in a really fun way, and your trial and error in taking on hordes of demons while avoiding getting hit twice in a row (which will probably kill you!) will both get you further into the mechanics and add significant length to the game. It's like Devil Daggers-lite, but with stages and spectacle. No one plays Doom for the story, after all! Get into the gameplay.

I agree with you 'MovetheGlow' big time ! 'Ultra Violence' is the way to go first time thru . It is on par with 'hurt me plenty' from DOOM 1 and 2. The campaign including finding every 'uber secret' and just about every secret in game it will probably take me 14 to 18 hours to complete .

Also playing every classic map from DOOM 1 and 2 on 'Ultra Violence' will probably add another 10 to 15 hours . The new DOOM is the most fun i had playing a FPS in both 7 and 8th gen!!

Asuka3664d ago

It depends. on average i say about ~10hrs, but i know it can be beat in less than 5hrs if you good xD

Reefskye3664d ago

I played on Nightmare first play through was at 18 hours when I completed it.

Asuka3664d ago

yeah sounds about right. At least for me at 20 hrs. someone beat the game on ultra nightmare in 5hrs its crazy

Perjoss3664d ago

What are the big differences between difficulties, is it the usual enemies with more health and you take more damage, or do they throw more enemies at you?

Asuka3664d ago

@Perjoss Yeah enemies have more health and you take more damage. The number of mobs is much greater as well. Plus on ultra-nightmare mode if you die you start the game over completely from the beginning. no checkpoints

Sciurus_vulgaris3664d ago

You have to beat the singleplayer first to play on Nightmare. It took me about 12 hrs to finish the campaign on ultra-violence.

Reefskye3664d ago

Nightmare is playable first time, it's Ultra Nightmare that locked. Nightmare is shaded red like ultra nightmare but on your first play through ultra nightmare has a icon for locked next to it normal Nightmare does not.

Samus is on the list. Personally I'd swap the Space Marines with either Grey Fox from MGS or the COG armor from Gears of War.

NecrumOddBoy1113d ago

You’re right. Hiding at the bottom so I missed it

REDGUM1114d ago

There's no Dead Space listed in here, WTF!

Sciurus_vulgaris1113d ago (Edited 1113d ago )

I’d take the Space Marine power armour off the list due to it not originating in a video game.

10 Video Game Sequels That Saved Their Franchise

Video game sequels like Assassin's Creed Origins, Doom (2016), and Fire Emblem Awakening were just what these franchises needed to be revitalized.

Immagaiden1121d ago

Lmao what’s Halo Infinite doing on this list?

Who would ever say Halo Infinite saved the Halo franchise

SullysCigar1120d ago

Thought the same - very bizarre!

RE7 though... my God, what a shift over RE6! That franchise was definitely going in the wrong direction, so RE7 was a welcome return to form.

ModsDoBetter1120d ago

Resi 6 was and still is the worst entry in the series.
7 was a great turnaround, despite people’s concerned about the switch to FP perspective.

DMC5 definitely helped the franchise after the whole DmC debacle. Whilst it was a decent action game, it was a far cry from the series and the characters we knew.

AC Origins is my favourite in the entire AC series. Despite the switch to a more RPG style of gameplay - the setting, soundtrack, length, etc were all amazing. sadly followed up by the ridiculously long and “more of the same” Odsyssey.

I don’t feel it’s fair to say the franchise slipped with Doom 3, Doom 3 was incredibly atmospheric and took the game in a different direction but there’s no denying Doom (2016) was sensational.

Halo 4 & 5 were disappointing but Halo Infinite definitely didn’t save the franchise? What?

TheEnigma3131120d ago (Edited 1120d ago )

I'm going to have to go with SMB 3. I was around when SMB 2 first came out and people hated it. 3 is still arguably the best mario game created.

HellspawnPR19811120d ago

"Halo Infinite"? Worse Halo ever. Whoever made this list just lost all credibility.

Hofstaderman1120d ago

In future lists of a similar nature I have a suspicion Final Fantasy XVI will feature.
