But Dmitri Ogorodnikov, from Brainy Studio is not sure whether upgraded consoles are necessarily a good thing for developers.

The new system is more powerful, and it has one other huge surprise. Think "Lego Bricks."

gangsta_red3701d ago

I like to think "Brick Oven Pizza"!

MasterCornholio3701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

So a console made out of Lego.

If it was called leg box one how would you rate the name?

@blackout

I agree with you that leg box one would be a horrific name for the system.

Black0ut3700d ago

Editing your comments completely in order to attempt to make your trolling look edgier shows just how sad you are bud. Nothing new though, you've been doing that for ages.

kraenk123701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

This would be a very questionable move..Spencer hinted at an upgradable console but I doubt people (other than fans) would accept that.

kayoss3700d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

How would a upgradeable console work tho? Wouldnt that cause parity among gamers? I mean PS4 Neo and PS4 will have parity but it sound like PS4 neo games will work on PS4 (but this still need to be confirmed).
However, an upgradeable console i cant imagine a console having multiple upgrades that can cause more parity among players.
One console could have no upgrades another could have 10 upgrades and other could be some where in between. How would games work on systems like that? PC comes into mind, but people who want to play the latest games are force to upgrade.

ninsigma3701d ago

How do you know it's more powerful?? We know nothing about it if it even exists.

Fatal-Aim3700d ago

@ the title

The new Xbox One will be selling at a huge loss too. I don't see that happening. It'll be more powerful than the PS4, sure but I doubt the Neo as that is twice as powerful as the PS4. XB1.5 has to be 3x the power of the PS4 then. Nope

Sonyslave33701d ago

Ms release a stronger console then Neo means is pointless, I mean u can't even tell the difference between One & 4 unless some randoms guyz zoom in very close .

Skate-AK3701d ago

Actually, there is a huge difference in picture quality on Battlefront, PS4 vs Xbone. Just one example.

Black0ut3701d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

"Huge difference"

I'm sorry but both console versions are not hugely different. What is hugely different however is the step up from both console versions to BF running on a 970. That's where the huge differences are, pal.

mark_parch3700d ago

there is a very small difference not 'HUGE' lol

KesMonkey3701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

You mean YOU can't tell the difference. Are you sitting far away from a small screen?

In fairness, the difference isn't huge. It's not like the difference between, say, the PS2 and the Xbox, or the SNES and Genesis, or PS1 and N64.

In fact, I don't think any two consoles from any previous generation have been closer to each other than the XB1 and PS4.

But, as little as the difference is, there is a difference, and it is visible to anyone who sits close enough to a decent sized TV. And the difference between a standard Xbox One and an upgraded PS4 would be dramatically more noticeable.

kraenk123701d ago

360 and PS3 were closer.

ninsigma3701d ago

Like kraenk said, I'm pretty sure last gen was closer than this gen.

Zeref3700d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

@kraenk12

360 and PS3 were definitely NOT closer.
The PS3 had missing textures on some games like call of duty and GTA.

This gen you need somebody to tell you which is which and then zoom in yourself to see the difference.
I'm not saying there is no difference. I'm saying the difference is negligible.

freshslicepizza3701d ago

power isn't really the big problem, they just aren't as marketable as sony and nintendo around the globe.

_-EDMIX-_3701d ago

Agreed. I think clearly they need one stronger then the XONE, but that is a given considering what those upgraded consoles are anyway. Anything stronger will have it running games at 1080p 60fps just fine, even if its not as powerful as Neo.

it just needs to be powerful enough. Many need to factor that XONE will still be the base of development, meaning anything extra will be used just to raise frame and resolution. MS will be fine. Just releasing the option will help them. I personally think MS should 1 up Sony by not having both, but making XONE.5 the new default XONE sku and lowering the price of their existing stock of XONE's.

Thus, everyone getting a XONE from that point on will all get the new version.

freshslicepizza3701d ago

what they could do is wait and see what nintendo and sony do and if the neo does come out and the nx is out early next year then possibly come out early next gen with a major leap from those. this owuld certainly buy some time for the xbox to be the most powerfull for at least a couple of years but at the expense of leaving the xbox one behind early.

Movefasta19933701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

this gen is all about res and frame rate.Ms would be crazy to release an underpowered console again.

ninsigma3701d ago

If both are going to release new consoles I think both will be able to hit 1080/60. I mean we're almost there now with the current ones, they just fall a bit short. I hope that's the case because it's one less thing for people to crap on about in the comments if all games hit that Mark.

kenwonobi3700d ago

I can tell between any power difference. Any tech savvy person who wants quality can tell. Graphics whores can tell. I want them to push the limits. I'm not gonna go all wimpy and say just release a simple upgrade. I want to be impressed if they do. Not underwhelmed. Do you want to be underwhelmed? Sounds like you want a wimpy console.

Ahh, GamingBolt... I won't even click it then...

ninsigma3701d ago

You can tell a gaming bolt article just by the title.

XeyedGamer3701d ago

I'm not sure if Microsoft releasing another console is such a good idea, tbh. Though more power is a deciding factor in most gamers purchase, I don't really see MS wanting to take losses on a second iteration by keeping it affordable to consumers. It may not sell as well as MS expect it to due to the ever so slightly tarnished rep the Xbox brand keeps dragging behind it and would just have MS's investors second guessing there confidence.

_-EDMIX-_3701d ago

"I don't really see MS wanting to take losses on a second iteration by keeping it affordable to consumers." how do we know they will take any losses?

Its going to be 3 years since those platforms released, they might be losing just the same amount or even profiting a bit, who knows. They can't sit their with less options though.

"It may not sell as well as MS expect it to due to the ever so slightly tarnished rep the Xbox brand keeps dragging behind it" Would that brand representation look any better when PS4.5 releases and Sony has more options then them?

Do consumers really like hearing that now XONE is even MORE weaker then its competition? I think MS should go for it as they can't let their main competitor have an option like PS4.5 while they are offering consumers the same XONE...

If you are Burger King, do you worry about if Burger King adds drive-thrus or if they don't? Because I see no reason for them to let competition hand consumers more options while they sit there thinking about it. There is a good reason why both Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks both have those coupon apps.

Know the enemy. If its good for their consumers, its also good for you're's. Why sit back and lose doing nothing?

XeyedGamer3700d ago

"Know the enemy. If its good for their consumers, its also good for you're's. Why sit back and lose doing nothing?

Because MS have been doing everything and are still at a loss.

_-EDMIX-_3700d ago

@Xeyed- "Because MS have been doing everything and are still at a loss" So don't try?

This is what you would tell the higher ups? Did Burger King just not put drive thrus because McDonald sells more?

The goal is to make as much money as you can, not JUST beat some other competitor. In order to make money, you need to understand what you're competition is doing.

Both Sony and MS do that every gen. If MS has online, Sony need to have online, why? ONLINE is not just a MS "want" it is a GAMER'S want! THUS Sony needs to give their consumers THE SAME in order to compete. This is just basic business. They get nothing for just not doing it other then lost sales.

I see no reason for MS to NOT release an updated version. It could be worse for MS, MS in personal opinion is not doing THAT bad this general. They have functional hardware, they have strong 3rd party support, they are making more money. They are doing fine and must continue to compete against PS4 feature to feature.

It helps XONE gamers, it helps even PS4 gamers as it shows that Sony can't just stop updating features, they must always improve as MS won't let up. As a PS gamer, Sony seeing MS's online features and structure helped me. Let MS seeing Sony's rumored updated platform help you. (don't know if you would buy a updated XONE or lol just saying).

I again feel its a great idea for MS to compete head to head and offer their consumers the same.

MegaRay3701d ago

No. Ms should make the upgrade even more powerful than NX, and more powerful than PS5 while they're at it.

kraenk123701d ago

The real problem MS has is not the system's power though. It's the lack of interesting games.

MegaRay3701d ago

I was being sarcastic.

kraenk123701d ago

My bad...should have been obvious but on here you never know.

kenwonobi3700d ago

Yes I agree. People who love great things should always ask for the most they can get. It does need to impress me.
