I have been very surprised by this game, as I was not expecting much after playing the beta I ended up buying this on PC. I find my self running errands around the house and get a few minutes here and there, so I hop on and get a round or two in. Its a very very fun game and a big surprise for me overall.

VerminSC3674d ago

Couldn't agree more. Played battlebornd and didn't enjoy it, so I assumed I wouldn't enjoy overwatch. This game is SUPER fun

meche3343674d ago

Amen. I played Battleborn and was off within 5 mins. And when i hopped on Overwatch, I was hooked

camel_toad3674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

Yep the open beta turned me into a buyer. Didn't care for Battleborn - felt like a crusty shell of Borderlands in some ways along with being generic and souless by comparison. Ive played Team Fortress 2 off and on for years but having exhausted it to death Overwatch has really hit the spot.

zackdollars3674d ago

I agree. It's hard to put down.

I didn't bother playing this since I have no interest in a moba. I played the Battleborn closed beta and it was meh. I'll be busy with Uncharted 4 and my usual FFXIV to mess with these or even care they exist, including paragon, another moba.

Edvin19843673d ago

@nunley33 see I agree with you 99% on everything in that statement, but I was truly surprised by this game. When I am at the clinic working or with patients I just keep thinking about it. It is just such a fun game to play, and its not a technical marvel but it is being so polished etc. I highly recommend you give this a try you'll be happily surprised.

The game looks good... it's optimized... and most importantly, it's fun. However, it sucks Blizzard refuses to support 21:9 aspect ratios. It may sound like a petty reason but, it's significant enough for me. I'm going to have to pass on this one. :/

Xb1ps43674d ago

Seriously... It amazes me on how that one element kills a game for some gamers, first time I ever read that some one will not buy a game over aspect ratio... Poor devs. Their jobs get harder and harder as the minutes pass by...

Xristo3674d ago

With your name, I wouldn't expect you to understand. But "Seriously..." if you look further than N4G, plenty are pissed about it.

Dchapzx3674d ago

wouldn't you be pissed if you had a monitor and your game wasn't supported

Pongwater3673d ago (Edited 3673d ago )

@ Dchapzx - Not if I bought a monitor I knew damn well was uncommon. If I didn't realize it was uncommon that would be my own fault.

OT - I preferred OW's beta over Battleborn's, but I wasn't really impressed with OW either.

Maxor3674d ago

21:9 support is easy. It's idiotic for them to not support it being a PC dev unless it's for a competitive reason. I can see this coming in a patch.

Xristo3674d ago

It may be for the competitive reason. I know that I sound petty not supporting them however, it's pretty damn annoying playing with two huge black bars on both sides lol. First world problems, I know. :( Hopefully they patch it in. The game let's you select 3440x1440@100... but only 16:9/10. It's just weird.

camel_toad3674d ago

Yeh I have a feeling they haven't and may never because they consider it a form of advantage via a wider field of view.

SoulMikeY3674d ago

Xristo, but you're the one who bought that fugly monitor, not the other way around. The world doesn't cater to you, or your little neck-beard, basement-dwelling "mathta wace".

zackdollars3674d ago

21:9 is an unorthodox ratio. That's the price of early adoption (or adoption of a format that will never become commonplace.)

Dchapzx3674d ago

No 21.9 support also kills it for me . With ultra wide monitors coming down in price they are becoming very popular and the curved versions. I noticed on the official Overwatch forums a lot of people are complaining and rightly so as Blizzard keep brushing this issue under the carpet. Until they start support for 21.9 I won't be buying any of their games it's their loss

hiredhelp3673d ago (Edited 3673d ago )

Im sure we find a way if there cfg file or something to edit.
The game super smooth fluid better artstyle over battleborn super fun gameplay lots characters loved the beta.

Betas really good, love the characters, just hope theres more modes in the final product.

VerminSC3674d ago

I heard the beta is the entire game, which is the only thing I found disappointing

camel_toad3674d ago

True but being Blizzard they'll crank out new heroes, maps and modes fairly steadily I'd imagine. They'll probably support it as long as they do most of their games and as long as Valve has TF2.

kaizokuspy3674d ago

There will be more modes I believe and more added in the summer. The beta has what felt like more maps than cod. I played 2.5 hours my first time with it and didn't play the same map twice. It was surreal. At any rate, I'm sorry you felt disappointed. It's a competitive arena shooter with objectives. If that's not up your alley. I can understand why you'd pass

NovaCorps3673d ago

If that's true then no matter how fun it is,its gonna be boring after 2 week max

Kane223674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

this game looks really cool to play. but im not a pvper at all. and since this game has no pve content i'll just pass on this right along with battleborne.

kaizokuspy3674d ago

You can play against AI with your friends or others online against bots. Also customers game allows for more freedom. So quick play AI is pve in a sense

kaizokuspy3674d ago

So what games with pve do you play then?

zackdollars3674d ago

I'm not a PVP'er either. But, Overwatch is so charming, I found that I don't mind PvP for this game.

Kane223674d ago

i cant justify spending $60 on a pvp focused game

WellyUK3674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

but you can justify spending $60 on a 8 hours long sp only game...

Pongwater3673d ago

@ Welly - If he doesn't like PvP, justifying an 8 hour campaign would still be easy by comparison. Anyway, the time spent on a campaign isn't nearly as important as how fun it is.

MoveTheGlow3674d ago (Edited 3674d ago )

I normally wouldn't ever pay actual money for a game *focused* on PvP content, let alone completely based on PvP without a shred of single-player (and no, bot matches don't count!)... but here I am, buying Overwatch, because it's just too freaking cool.

Give it a try today before the beta expires. They're doing some really interesting stuff with team mechanics and scoring, and that seems to iron out the whole "people are really stupid and I don't care about my k/d ratio" issues I have with so many other shooters. To me, it feels a little like TimeSplitters, and that alone got me excited. By tomorrow you'd actually have to drop $60 on it to try it out, but today you'll be fine.

rainslacker3673d ago

I'm about as anti-MP as anyone, probably more than most, but I have to admit Overwatch does look fun, and looks like a game I could get into.

Unfortunately, since I also feel the game will eventually just end up being nothing but grinding out the same content, I'm not too keen on getting involved. It does kind of suck, because it's rare an online centric game actually interests me.

Nintendo Switch 2 Drops Must-Play Free FPS You Can Enjoy From Today

In 2023, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 was released, which was basically a big, glorified update of the original game that launched in 2016. Now, it’s simply reverted to being called just Overwatch, which is probably for the best.

The second iteration of Overwatch was released on the original Nintendo Switch, and while it’s still an enjoyable game with cross-play/progression functions, it’s still lacking in terms of performance and visuals, compared to its PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S counterparts. Well, it was.

As of today, the second iteration of Overwatch is natively available on the Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for Season 2: Summit.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Overwatch will have increased resolution both in handheld and docked modes, enhanced textures and lighting, up to 60 frames-per second, improved audio and more.

Blizzard is readying a patch to address the issue that the game is still running in Switch 1 build and just 30 fps.

Neonridr46d ago

you'd think they'd test it before pushing it live, lol.

that being said, clearly it's not running as intended.

repsahj46d ago

They know it for sure. Maybe they didn't finish optimizing the game by the targeted release date. That's why they released the Switch 1 30fps version first. XD
