In Theory: Will future consoles share identical tech specs?

Eurogamer:

"With the full hardware specification for the PlayStation Neo out in the open, several questions spring to mind, principally - why now: as the impending arrival of the Nintendo NX caused a rethink at Sony headquarters? And perhaps more curiously, how is Microsoft going to respond?"

MS needs to return to when they made a console that did things you didn't know you needed and bring back the Cutthroat mentality they once had .

According to a rumour Microsoft are working on a 10 teraflop machine haha it just gets better. I just can't wait for E3 to put all this BS to rest.

ScorpiusX3665d ago (Edited 3664d ago )

Don't know about that , but a return to Xbox form would be great and E3 is going to be awesome just knowing some kind of hardware will be unveiled

psnoob3665d ago

LMAO really ? 600$ gfx cards can only give max of 5.5 Tflops. 500$ is max I think most people would spend on a gaming console.

"According to a rumour Microsoft are working on a 10 teraflop machine"

You can tell this guy knows about hardware to actually believe this.

Volkama3665d ago (Edited 3665d ago )

The 10TFLOP rumour and all the other 'details' around it are based purely on AMD's Vega cards, in terms of guestimated specs and timeline. It's a pretty weak attempt to flesh out a guess (wish?) that Microsoft's next console has that GPU.

AMD's Fury X and Nano cards already boost something like 8.2 TFLOPs, so pegging Vega above 10 is not unrealistic at all but it's beyond optimistic to say Microsoft will be putting anything like that in a console.

Would be awesome though lol

The hardware specs for the Neo are "out in the open"? Hardly. Nothings even been confirmed so all these specs are just rumours and speculation.

TheCommentator3664d ago

Yeah, I didn't bother to read the article after I read that. From some of the other posts here though, I assume the author believes that the XB1.5 will be 10TF as well... Lol.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing16d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9216d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit16d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing16d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9216d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
