It's about time. I've gone through 5 controllers since launch. They've all been replaced for free so I can't really complain too much. But with regards to the triggers FIFA & Hotline Miami were the worst culprits for causing the damage. Because they were both so shoulder button intensive.

Thumb stick covers/grips should of come with the controller as standard because of how bad they were as well.

Either I've been lucky or the people this effects either have sweaty hands or play 24/7 because I play my ps4 near on 4-5 hours most days and I only really had this problem after a year and a half.

Only problem I've had with my two controllers is one R2 trigger broke at pivot point.
Got replacement off Ebay and thanks to YouTube video it was fixed for a few Pounds.
So try that before binning a broken controller. Nothing to lose after all

I have gone through 3 controllers black blue and red, traded them in to get the limited edition PS1 Gray and Star Wars Darth Vader

Never had squeaky triggers but I've snapped my R2 3 times so hopefully this will stop that.
I'm a little rough when u play GPS, my hands tense up and I grip very hard - that being said I've never broke a trigger on any console before the PS4. My launch PS3 and PS2 controllers are still fully working!

That's nice but unless it the same price as the standard pads I don't think it's worth the upgrade.

My launch DS4 developed a squeaky right trigger and had the rubber wearing down on the left stick. Bought a replacement after Sony released an improved controller, and it's been fine ever since. Hours and hours of gaming and still no problems :)

The new standard controller I bought is just solid plastic for the sticks. Yes solves it.

Yeah, it feels better too. I've got the newer model number and just purchased it a few days ago. The rubber on the analogues seems very different too, with the coating being a lot harder and feeling less spongy.

Not had a trigger issue at all. Have 4 DS4s but one has start of analogue stick issues( launch pad)

I got this weird issue when I hold the R2 button, my in game character goes left without touching the left analog stick.

Been this way since last year. I hate these controllers they are very bad quality. I've gone through about 10 so far and non of them have ever had both sides fit together properly there is always one part of the plastic that sticks out. A lot of the pads had the trigger sensitivity issue, also every pad I've had the rumble on the right side has gone bad... If you knock it at all it goes bad... Play a game with guns and shoot then stop and listen to the rumble on right side when it's slowing down it will sound like it's rubbing against something... I know it's not a major issue but it just makes it sound cheap imo.

The DS4 definitely had problems I had my since launch and recently replaced it due to the analog stick sensors no longer working I don't think I have ever had to replace a controller from Sony before. The cheap rubber on the analog sticks affected many people as well my advise is to buy those cheap rubber grips to place on the analog sticks to prevent them from being damaged. Hopefully they addressed these issues and I don't have to buy another controller anytime soon, they ain't cheap and would have rather have bought a game instead of having to replace a controller.

Braking rubbers under the triggers are much worse scenario than triggers themself.
I had to replace rubbers in almost all my DS4.

Now if they can just improve the battery life then it's perfect. Yes I know I can charge it but I don't want to have to sit 7 feet from the TV every 4 hours of playtime.

My problem is that when I press down on R2, the button doesn't fully engage. I can't run on Assassins Creed or play any racing games unless I map gas and break to L1 and R1. That sucks for racing games becuase you can't ease on the throttle or brake. It is either full power, or none at all.

Funny thing is while other ppl have been having issues with the rubber peeling of, I've gone through 3 controllers and this is the issue I've encountered not once has the rubber peeled off of my controllers. My R2 triggers have been the ones brakingon me especially playing the heck outta Driveclub but I just check one of my new controllers and the FCC ID ends with A. So we'll see.

They need to fix the durability of the analog stick mechanism. I've now had 3...YES THREE...of my sticks "go limp" after something broke internally. No rage. No slamming the controller. Just, I guess, a little too much force turning in my car while playing The Crew or jerk it too hard playing Rocket League.

Other than that the controller has been fine for me, just had to replace it three times now...

I have the problem were it jitters when moving the right thumb stick up. I've cleaned it, took it apart...everything but it still does it. My other controllers fine though.
I'll buy a new one if I know it's a knew one and the problems been fixed.

Edit: sorry misread....I have never had a problem with the triggers so this doesn't really help. :(

Did they solve the problem with the R2 losing 100% depressed values when the little silicone part is pressed by the sharp edge?

Initially one of the best controllers on the market but 2 years in and it's nearly one of the worst. Fully charged there's a ton of delay and occasional loss of signal on both of my controllers. The rubber peeled within the first 2 months. The triggers are fine.

Not buying another unless Sony comes up with an answer to the X1 Elite or Scuff.

Even my star wars DS4 got problems with the trigers...

I have a launch ps4. Mine are fine and show no signs of wear and tear, and I have multiple game genres: infamous, killzone, battlefield 4, DC, PS+ games, Amplitude HD, GTA V, bloodborne, and I play usually at least 2 times a week minimum.

Glad I lucked out. the DS4 is more durable than my old sixaxis controllers on PS3 (those analog sticks have a little leeway now.) My DS3 is fine tho too.

I want a redesigned Dualshock 4. Nothing major, just better build materials and quality control.

* Good they got it fixed. Controllers should last a long time. All my NES/Sega Genesis/N64 controllers still work...All my gamecube and Dreamcast controllers & Xbox & Xbox 360 controllers still work.

Glad Sony owned up to it and fixed it. I don't own a PS4 but people who do own a PS4 deserve a great controller.

The issue I've had with my DS4 is that the trigger hinges break and the analog stick rubber kept peeling off. No doubt it's a design flaw which should be rectified.

Too bad I already had to buy a new controller because mine wouldn't connect without a cord, the R2 only worked 3/4 of the time (a deal breaker in shooting games), and the triggers sueaked... and I bought my PS4 brand new. Fix your shit, Sony

I have two launch DS4's and haven't had the first issue with the triggers. The rubber around the analog sticks started to wear off so I bought some grip covers to go over it. Otherwise, the controllers have been great.

It had trigger issues? My launch DS4 still works perfectly fine and i put a lot of milage on it.. The serial number is worn off the back but thats it

I'm still using the same controller I got with my PS4 at launch in 2013. Absolutely nothing wrong with any part of it, and I've been gaming daily with it for on average 3 hours a night since launch. The analog sticks don't even have any wiggle to them for crying out loud, these things were built damn good from the start IMO. So I can't imagine how long one with "better" build quality would last.

I hope the new triggers are more sturdy. Mine's left trigger broke while playing Witcher 3. I bought the camouflage DS4 which is so beautiful and cool.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.

I hated that he died. The game was good but you never want to see a character you can relate or enjoy to die off like that. We wanted more Joel not less. Still a really good game but that part will always sit poorly with many

Not gonna lie, I think they made a big mistake. I mean I like a big unimaginable shock moments as much as the next person. It was just too soon though. If you’re going to kill off the main character you need a solid back up that people love just as much to carry the weight of the loss. If you’re setting it up for a trilogy then he really should have died at the end of 2 or half way through 3.

Who cares, that was like 6 years ago.

I don't mind the story, I think it is interesting in its own. But I would much prefer it stays as a story between Joel and Ellie (And I don't hate Abby, but it just feels like a third wheel when I play the game, feel like it is not a story about her). Joel can live with the consequences in a different way than just get killed off, his emotional conflicts between him and Ellie, Abby and everyone else would have a lot of interesting stories to tell, not any less than just get killed off.

So we as players, who controlled Joel in the first game, can get immersed and feel the guilt with him, instead of getting angry that he got killed.

TLOU Part 2 was a great game, but the entire game made me mad

Personally I liked that they killed off Joel, his death scene was great. The story was good and how revenge drives a person. The last quarter of the game was dumb after Tommy told Ellie where Abby was located. She leaves the farm goes in an arduous trek killing many more people along the way. Finds Abby in a cage releases her they fight, Ellie gets two fingers bitten off, and suddenly she doesn’t want to fight and kill Abby anymore, lets her leave with a warning even though she was the one losing the fight. Why go the rough all of that hassle just to let the focus of your hatred just leave. Should have stwyed home with Diana and keep all her fingers intact. Still a great game with a good story and I liked Abby I saw no reason for all her hate.

They could have killed Tommy and made it a revenge story with Joel and Ellie going after Abbie.

ND was trying so hard to make me sympathize with Abbie and it just wasn't working. I just don't understand how you make a "revenge is bad story" while having me mow through hundreds of NPCs just to get to the main culprit and just...not finish the job. Druckman is a terrible story teller.
