except Nintendo did not plan this_ they were not ready to go forward in the fall 2016 so they HAD to delay- it s not a "genius" move it is a terrible situation to either miss 2016 holiday release and release in March or perhaps even delay till the next holiday- Nintendo is flat out incompetent for being inthe position they are now in

Too each their own.... Genius isn't the word I would use..... like at all.

I absolutely love Zelda, it's one of my favorite franchises of all time, and along with a couple other games is a reason why I have to buy a Nintendo console at some point in it's life cycle, but I mean If all they show is Zelda, then what on earth is the Wii U going to do for the remainder of 2016. Literally Paper Mario is it, and from there we have to pray for good 3rd party games (-_-), and hopefully some Japanese games get ports (Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem).

This is a godawful E3 for them, and as huge as Zelda is a single game can't carry an entire E3 conference, unless they magically remaster every Zelda game for the 30 year anniversary which would be huge, and awesome... but I still would like to see other things.

They have to demo footage of what we can expect from NX games. Zelda Wii U vs NX, Dragon Quest NX, and a few others, along with tech demos, and a list of potential NX ports / developers supporting the hardware. Simply doing this will turn their E3 into a good one.

"Genius" is probably the last word most people would use to characterize having only one playable game at E3. More like, a barren wasteland for the last year of the Wii U's life. Only a diehard fan would use that word, the reality is far different and much worse than anytime in the recent history of the company.

Has everyone gone mad why Is everyone pretending that there wont be a Nintendo NX Direct in say August that shows launch games/features and name of console ect also I thought last year everyone was praising Nintendo for not doing a traditional E3 because E3 was poor last year and a Nintendo Direct would be better in most people eyes.

How low do people drop their standards for Nintendo? How can anyone be ok with them showing only one game during this conference

Genius or their only real option right now.

What Nintendo needed to do is launch Zelda WiiU this November to get as many WiiU console sales as posible and then release it in March, as a launch lineup game for the NX. But no, Nintendo just shot themselves in sales this year. Not looking good towards the NX.

I'm all for this because every time a zelda game is playable on show floor, it tends to attract huge lines...hopefully by having only zelda stations at their booth means less wait time...hopefully

I think compared to some companies at least Nintendo have been transparent about the fact they don't have much to show but they have announced their new system for March 2017. What with Christmas around the corner they could have just lied through their teeth and bumbled through the remainder of the year trying to shift as many Wii U's as possible and then going oh by the way we're dropping that console here's are new one and can you now go and buy that one as well 6 months after you just bought the Wii U. They didn't they've been very upfront in their plans.

Since when is effectively skipping the biggest game show of the year 'genius'?

E3 is irrelevant, NX needs to be done perfectly when it is ready

It's moronic and shows that Nintendo has nothing to show for Wii U and how dead the console is. For a company whose biggest complaint against it is lack of games, going to E3 with one game that has been in development for already a very long time and that still isn't coming out this year is brutal for Wii U owners and frankly ridiculous.

I know people love Nintendo, I grew up with it too, but it's getting hard to respect them at this point.

1) E3 is not important anymore. The biggest devs of the industry have already dropped out.
2) They will be having a seperate NX event a little later that will be a better showcase since they do not have to compete with anyone else for mindshare.
3) They are not "Skipping" E3. There will be a direct, treehouse, roundtables, new game announcements, ect. Zelda is the only game playable. Big difference

I mean, god damn can some of you actually research so you know what you are talking about?

3DS has quite frankly been killing it this year with the best releases, and that will care through E3.

* They get March 2017 Launch + E3 hype build up in E3 2017 + Holiday season 2017 all within that one year for them.

By launching in march 2017, it gives them time to work out a good release order for these games.

Instead of 5-6 games November 2016, we get 10-12 games in March 2017 + the next releases will be 4-5 months closer to completion and release than they would be with a November 2016 release.

* So rather than getting games at November 2016 and then having to wait 4-6 months for more games, you get games in March 2017, and the next month in April there is games....and in may..ect...
