Even Xbox One and PS4 Mods Can’t Solve the Real Problem with Fallout 4

So finally Bethesda has made good in their promise to bring mods to Xbox One and PS4. But let’s be honest, there’s a large and craterous problem with Fallout 4.

my game crashes after 15 minutes, or if i go into a place where theres alot of acction like in the city, i know its not my pc, what a big dissapointment this game was, terribly unoptimized, and cartoony graphics from 2006

_-EDMIX-_3690d ago

That sounds like it's more so you're PC than anything else.

I could never say it's Graphics from 10 years ago, also irrelevant to the game.

spoonard3689d ago

Perhaps you'd prefer an engaging text adventure game based on the Fallout universe? Graphics always matter.

Khaotic3689d ago

@spoonard you have an opinion, just like in this article, but the game is widely accepted as being a beautiful and engaging world. So people that think this game has bad graphics are an extreme minority , just like the opinions in this article.

I would have thought by now people would've quit bashing fallout for attention.

MRMagoo1233690d ago

it's gotta be your pc I have this game on pc and my wife has it on her pc and we have had maybe 2 crashes at most each and we even mod the heck out of the game.

Majister-Ludi3690d ago

You need a new pc buddy. The game is slightly cartoony on purpose and I really think it looks nice on high setting. Especially after you add some mods it can really look beautiful. I've only crashed when I get my mods mixed incorrectly.

garrettbobbyferguson3690d ago

Nothing wrong with "cartoony" graphics. What is wrong with the graphics is that they are just horrendous. Crap textures all over, terrible looking character models and facial expressions. I remember the first thing I saw when making it out of the vault was a hideous vine texture hanging over an equally hideously modeled house. The game is barely an upgrade over New Vegas, and with the right amount of mods you can make New Vegas look pretty damn close to the visuals that Fallout 4 is outputting. For all the crap I give Battlefront, at least Dice had the decency to make the game look good. I legitimately can find nothing good about Fallout 4.

Wow you got disagree bombed

nowitzki20043688d ago

@DrJones

Well just about everything he typed is wrong imo.

conanlifts3690d ago

In parts the graphics are ordinary. But other scenes like when you see the airship are pretty good.

nowitzki20043689d ago

Im thinking its the PC. I dont want to say I have no problems, but the game runs amazing and looks great as well on my 970. Not the best looking game, but good enough. I got bored of other stuff with the game though.

Helios863689d ago

Your PC, your drivers, whatever it is, it's fixable.

@iNFAMOUZ1 Badly optimized PC much ? Runs perfect on mine.

WellyUK3689d ago

it ran pretty poorly on launch, dunno if it still does as I uninstalled it.

Dragonking0073690d ago

If they wanted to make cartoony graphics they should of at least been creative like a cupheads art style now that would of been creative 1950s cartoon style

SavingPvt_Highon3690d ago (Edited 3690d ago )

I wasn't aware FO4 had problems. This was and is an amazing game. Just my opinion though. It got a lot of hate, even though Bethesda gave the fans what they asked for. I played over 7 days on PS4, not 1 crash.

MRMagoo1233690d ago

I think it's because everyone expects every Bethesda game to be a broken mess at launch they don't see that this game is fine.

My biggest gripe with the game is that it's devolved into an almost pure action game. The dialogue is pathetic, the story is meh, the customization is ultimately lackluster and the world just lacks alot of what made previous games so interesting to explore (where are all the creepy vaults?).

Omnisonne3689d ago

The dialogue and story would be my only points of criticism for F4. Though the average story doesn't matter that much for me, they changed the dialogue interface options for the worse, and left little room for roleplaying aswell.

Otherwise the game has been very enjoyable for me, the only crashes I had was due to building a settlement out of proportion and using fast travel whilst inside.

Blacklash933690d ago (Edited 3690d ago )

I don't like the Radiant Quest system either, but those quests are generally completely avoidable and it's not a big deal if you don't do much with them. Fallout 4 has more than enough proper quests to make up for them, if you ask me.

gamespulp3689d ago

Agreed. They are wholly optional and avoidable. But we don't think they should be; they should be as unmissable as everything else.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot206d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder206d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain206d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
