Personally I don't want onscreen notifications. That would be distracting and annoying to me. Granted I'm sure you could probably turn them off, at least I'd hope you could.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3594d ago

Well if they do add it. It should be for just Friends coming online, miiverse notification or game download finish,

deafdani3594d ago

On-Screen notifications should always have the option to be turned off. So, I hope Nintendo implements them, and implements them correctly.

Zeldafan643594d ago

I'd be fine with it if it was on the gamepad screen.

wonderfulmonkeyman3594d ago

Well said!
Although I think, given Nintendo's track record, expecting them to do cross/party/game chat in everything is asking too much, as is streaming to Twitch and YT.XD [and it's not as if streaming is that big of an important feature, though there's a case for chat]

I also don't think they'll have the entire back-catalog of games from the VC ready at launch.
Not even Sony and Microsoft have done that, so it's a bit silly to expect it of Nintendo.

I like your list of third parties; EA, Ubisoft, and the other big names like them have lost my trust with the way they've handled their Nintendo efforts during the past three years.
They're out of touch with Nintendo gamers, and won't likely have much of a place on the NX until they're willing to make some really big-name exclusives instead of falling back on multiplats constantly.

As for other stuff the system needs:

Free online.
This is a must; if they charge me for online, then I won't be trading up until late into its life cycle, when it will have enough single player games to justify the purchase.
Both Sony and Microsoft lost my early adopter patronage because of that BS.

Backwards compatibility with the Wii U.
I don't care how much people hate the game pad; the games on the system were excellent, and having a console that lets me return to my back log with no strings attached, completely destroys any chance of a game drought hurting my love of the system.

MUCH stronger advertisement efforts.
See what they're doing with Splatoon?
Do that with the NX.
Only even stronger.

More than anything Nintendo needs people to quit bashing them for everything they do. Constructive criticism is good but there is so much blind hatred towards the company it's unbelievable.
I know the needless bashing won't ever stop but maybe, MAYBE it will lessen eventually but I doubt it.

OrangePowerz3594d ago (Edited 3594d ago )

I don't think there is that much blind hatred and nedless bashing towards Nintendo.

They made great consoles until the Gamecube and I always liked Nintendo, but what they did with the Wii and WiiU was just horribly bad. They completely lost the balance between trying new things and make something for your core userbase. Sure the Wii sold extremely well, but it was a horrible console and completely underpowered, lacking features and most games couldn't be played with a normal controller and instead the gimmicky motion controls got forced on everybody. With the poor hardware they burned most of the bridges with 3rd party and the console was never a viable contender for main console in the household. That got followed up with the WiiU and it's tablet like controller because they thought it's a great idea because tablets and smartphones are popular, again with underpowered hardware not worth to support for 3rd Party and still crappy online capabilities. We have online gaming since the Dreamcast and they still can't deliver an ok online experience.

I'm sure most of the bashing would stop if Nintendo would actually go back to their roots of delivering good hardware instead of betting all their money on gimmicks. Being a generation behind on the hardware just so it can be sold cheap isn't going to work and won't get them the much needed 3rd Party support. As much as I like Nintendo games I'm not going to spend 300 or more bucks on a console that is mainly only good for Nintendo games.

The Wii was in no way a bad system. You may not have liked the vision Nintendo had for it, but that doesn't mean it was a bad idea. Plus, most Wii games DID have classic controller and GameCube controller support, and there were games that used the Wii remote very well.

No software droughts and the machine can not be just a Nintendo software machine. You must have 3rd party support not ALL but a great amount. And maybe more importantly the hardware and networking must KICK ASS. THIS NETWORKING SYSTEM CAN NOT BE LOWER QUALITY than XBL and PSN. MUST BE JUST AS GOOD OR BETTER. The systems hardware must be strong enough to weed out the BS nintendo is doomed articles, meaning, as soon as you put in a game, you must see how great the tech looks, so when these nintendo is lame, doomed or weak systems articles start to sprout (which they are already) the system can speak CLEARLY for itself. And what the NX doesn't need is a different way to play by way of controllers. Tech should be the strong point of the nx. Nintendo hasn't use tech to their advantage since the Gamecube and SNES. Nintendo 64 was great BUT at the time cost of cartridges were too much. Not so much now. I would LOVE if the NX was cartridge base. FAST loading times, take you game anywhere (if the handheld rumor stuff is true) and no need for hard drives.

Pancit_Canton3594d ago

Get rid of their current CEO. They need someone younger who can keep up with time and cut down on their gimmicks.

Timesplitter143594d ago

I think it's a bit hard to tell. People in general seem to want the NX to be a powerful console that has all the third party AAAs that PS4/XB1 has, but I don't think that would be enough. A nintendo console needs a little something special

wonderfulmonkeyman3594d ago (Edited 3594d ago )

My thoughts exactly.

If the system became an exact copy of the PS4, but with Nintendo games, non-Nintendo gamers wouldn't be impressed enough to go for it.
They already have multiplat machines, after all; why go for a new one when it has nothing but the exact same games and a few Nintendo titles on the side, when they've shown they hate Nintendo's kinds of games?

Whether those that hate change like it or not, the NX needs a clever hook that core gamers will actually think is cool, and third party exclusives.
Those are the only two things that can give it any chance at sales with the non-Nintendo crowd.

Was really looking forward to this, but the frame rate is 10% faster than it should be. Making it even more challenging than I remember.

When I saw there was a 60fps patch note after buying it for Switch and playing maybe 7 hours, I stopped. I paid for the upgrade, and am glad I did, BUT it does need some work to make it as good as it should be, with paid DLC! Load times are much better on the Switch 2 version! Definitely an improvement over the OG Wii U times and the OG Switch.

If you like RPGS, and want to explore a massive open world, that is rewarding and now runs the way it should (60FPS) this could be a fantastic game for you! The upgrade to dynamic 4K could use some work, but it still looks far better than the OG Wii U Release. I hope there is a patch that addresses the 4K.

Just a heads up, until you progress to about chapter 4, it's a learning curve. Also, Skells are fantastic, but you have to put time into the game to 'earn' one. Once you do, it really opens up the game.

Glad it got a Switch 2 Update, but a little more polish would be great! For $5 it's worth upgrading, IMO just for 60fps. I loved the game though. So...
