Reports claim that Sony will be launching PS4.5 "Neo". Is a new console really what's best for the industry? Here's why tech limits are a good thing.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.
I really don't know what to make of these Neo reports. I'm just waiting to see if we end up hearing anything at E3 at this point.
All these reports yet I haven't seen a single thing from Sony on the matter.
if there is smoke then there is fire. What i mean is i do think the system exist. I also believe that the NX is more powerful then these consoles thats why they are doing these upgrades. Since this is an opinion article my opinion is that they should suck it up and wait for the next cycle and make these systems upgradable like pc's. They are so much like pc's minus well make the boxes like them. Its already a luxury to own a console. The cost of the boxes, the subscriptions, the games, to the fucking memory that seems to be shit at 500gb since one game over its cycle is over 50 gigs with its intial instal to updates to dlc.
The first game on PS3 and the last game on PS3 shows how much power Devs can squeeze out of those same components.
(I'll probably get downvoted for this) but, waiting 6-7 years on the same tech is not "pushing" creativity. If that logic was true, maybe Mobiles, Tablets, Laptops, Washing Machines, Televisions etc wouldn't release every year.
Also I don't think PS4 Neo will be a threat to what console gamers believe. Its main focus is selling Blu-Ray drives just like PS2 sold as DVD drives. The creativity will be pushed more by having better hardware to work in. And can't stress that enough that there won't be ANY PS4K exclusives titles or modes so what's the harm ? (I won't be buying one fyi)
Nice argument but more Tech will also push creativity :o
