Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Predictions For May 2016

ThisGenGaming says "Backwards compatibility on the Xbox One is proving to be hugely popular amongst fans of the system and Microsoft have been dedicated in providing fans with as many new backwards compatible games as possible. For instance, the inclusion of 2 Xbox 360 backwards compatible games for the Xbox One via Games with Gold guarantees two free Xbox 360 games a month, even before the monthly additions. Just last month, we have seen games like Alan Wake and Halo Wars becoming backwards compatible on the Xbox One. As we draw closer to May, here are some games we hope to see become backwards compatible in the month of May."

I really hope Bioshock and RDR come to BC asap

Fin_The_Human3680d ago

Yeah specially RDR...that game was amazing and loved it more than GTA5.

I am also waiting for Lost Odessy and Blue Dragon.

poppinslops3680d ago

Yeah, those are damn near impossible to find in stores, so a digital option would be nice... same goes for Nier.

As for Red Dead, I reckon Microsoft's BC fumble basically confirms it's being held back for one of those Quantum Break/GoW/Dark Souls type of deals, where pre-ordering 'Red Dead 3' (which WILL be announced this year) gets you a BC copy of Redemption... maybe Undead Nightmare as well?

Liked Red Dead alot. Didn't play multiplayer though. Was it any good ?

When has backwards compatibility ever not proven to be a big and popular feature

_-EDMIX-_3680d ago

lol define "big".

Popular, sure, I've yet to see it determine a platforms success.

Ironically enough some of my most played platforms have been ones with BC, but I've never actually purchased a new platform just for BC. A nice feature, but nothing I would solely buy a platform for....its not even in my bullet points of buying a new platform lolz.

PS4 fastest selling console of all time....has no BC.

Wii U worst selling Nintendo console of all time, has BC from Wii, the best selling Nintendo console of all time.

Wii...best selling Nintendo console, had BC of at the time the worst selling Nintendo console Gamecube. Thus....BC has not actually proven to make the majority buy a platform, from the best of the last gen, from the worst of the last gen...its actually never added a platforms success.

The irony is just too much lolz! We've seen both scenarios to prove having BC hasn't actually had some dramatic effect on consumers. Popular? Sure....subjective and I can see how it is. Big? Depends on what your definition of "big" is.

Wii was the best selling platform last gen, Wii U has native BC to Wii since day 1, where are those mega um "big" sales?

PS4 has no BC....you can't put anything from any previous gen inside a PS4 and have it work in any respect..

Fastest selling console of all time, breaking records that PS2 established. Hard to say something is "big" when platforms without it are breaking records bud, but I'll save it until I hear what you mean by that as assumptions of what you mean are not really fair.

holysmokesbatman3680d ago

EDMIX, wtf are you smoking? ...go play knack or something.

christocolus3680d ago

@Edmix

How is Xbox One BC even a concern of yours? You obviously don't own the console or even care so why even bother coming in here to post your usual BS? Smh

Kiwi663680d ago

So its not for you yet is for others

Free_Fro3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

That's a cool story
But BC is important to myself and millions of others.

One of the PC's best features, play games from any gen.

you can try 'nd sweep it under the rug by bringing up sales figures. .

but it doesn't change the fact that PS4 fans would love it. The little BC PS4 does is behind a pay wall.
PS2 games and a Streaming service.

Fin_The_Human3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

Edimax what heck are you on about son.

Go play the order or SFV since you seem to be so deep into PlayStation backside.

_-EDMIX-_3680d ago

Ignored.

I've never stated anything about how I personally feel about BC in fact I stated that my most-played platforms have all had BC.

What I personally like about it is again irrelevant and doesn't really have much to do with what I'm stating. What I'm asking of you is to Define what they mean as big as to my understanding what I just stated about the PlayStation 4 and Wii U is literally the perfect example to show that such a feature is not a huge determining factor in terms of a platform sales ie big.

Of course having 2 consoles and 1 is a great thing how does that translate into sales? Popular, of course it's popular I'm not even debating that even slightly never did I say it's terrible bad or that no one wants to have two in one or anything of the sort what I'm stating is has it translated into actual sales? I'm not asking this as a consumer, I'm asking this simply as a businessman to Define what he stating as big as for a fact it's been shown the feature is not that wanted.

if you're having two platforms show you that one having it sold less than the one that didn't, it's telling you people primarily purchase new platforms specifically to play new content. The majority by no means are purchasing it simply because they can play the last platforms titles a 100 million install base is telling you so.

How much of that 100 million install base really is telling you that they appreciate that the Wii U can play Wii games? Do you really believe that the entire 12 million purchased it as the key feature of playing Wii games? So without that so wii u just would have sold nothing? Let's say half that's only 6 million, so 6 million care about this feature enough for it to have been the defining reason to purchase it?

I'm sorry but it's beyond hilarious. You have several examples that directly contradict the entire point of stating such a feature is "big".

Did the Wii having GameCube BC make it sell 100 million? If that's the case that the Wii's 100 million sell the Wii U? Don't you see how those contradict anyone's point of trying to make it sound like it's a major feature? LMFAO! This has nothing to do with whether I personally like it, once again of course it's a great feature what I'm stating it's simply on how the majority actually really feel about the feature in terms to purchasing power, nothing more so get out of your feelings folks lolz.

Yet right now the current fastest selling console of all time doesn't have said feature yet the worst selling Nintendo console of all time does...

Sure.

@PUMP- Nope. The only definitive thing that can prove the real popularity of a feature in such an industry is its translation into actual sales, I'm sorry but there isn't enough to really say it's a huge feature considering this current generation. The fastest selling platform right now doesn't have this feature that you're claiming is so "huge". I'm sure people love it heck I still use BC on my PlayStation 2 and Playstation 3, but I cannot say it's so huge that its defining purchasing power evident by this generation...

Also the relevance to a consumer talking about this is simply out of conversation to discuss it I'm pretty positive you could still talk about business while remaining a consumer but it doesn't need to be one way or the other I've stated specifically that this is in regards to business not how I personally feel about it.

antz11043680d ago

Ugh I guess you could claim that argument but all you could hear at the beginning of last gen was that PS3 was bc. Then when it wasn't a feature anymore fans wanted nothing more than FF7 bc. I guess it's subjective then to which console were discussing.

Trekster_Gamer3680d ago

Edmix ..
You can quote all the stats you want but you're just lying to yourself and everybody else if you wouldn't be excited if PS4 had One backwards compatibility and didn't charge you to repurchase games you already own for the PS3.

So just keep on trolling.

_-EDMIX-_3679d ago

Trek- I think you actually need to fully read what was posted. Where on Earth did I state it was a bad thing? Where did I state I wasn't excited for it? Even in my post I stated most of the consoles I played had this feature. Lol

You might want to actually comprehend what you're reading bud.

What I'm saying is the majority do not care enough about this feature to make it the main purpose of them purchasing the console evident by the most successful console this gen not having the feature yet the worst selling console in Nintendo's history has this feature native.

That is like getting emotional and upset because I say most jrpgs won't sell Mega Millions. What part of that statement conveys I'm not excited for Jrpgs? This statement being made is specifically about business, nothing about how I personally feel about it. Like I stated in several post that's actually irrelevant.

Lol the reading comprehension of most of you guys is so terrible inside of my post I'm literally telling you that I understand it's popular I even stated who won't want 2 consoles and 1.

I never once stated it was a bad feature I'm merely telling you the exaggeration that it is selling the platform as a primary feature. If we're going to State the importance of the feature we need to have some sort of definitive proof with factual numbers that such a thing as indeed wanted by the majority of the install base enough to deem the purchase.

If I had it my way all platforms would have native BC to their previous. I'm not sure what else to tell you as it seems many of you guys have this idea that saying the majority do not care for such a feature, means I do not care for this feature lol.

Its once again irrelevant the raw numbers show you the exact examples of the situations where the feature was in a platform or not in the platform to essentially contradict that the majority really wanted it, clearly not enough.

Me telling you that no factual numbers really prove that is not the same as me stating that I don't want it, it's actually irrelevant if I want it or not I'm actually just telling you the numbers that support that it's not a main selling feature.

Is a popular feature on the two consoles that actually attempted to implement it.

Paytaa3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

Some really great games right there. I have no more incentive to really turn on my 360 anymore so having games like CoD4, MW2, WAW, Bad Company 2, BF1943, Splinter Cell, and RDR on my X1 would be so nice.

_-EDMIX-_3680d ago

I might want to see COD4 remastered. I'm not sure If I would play it on PS3 currently as I still own my PS3 and a copy of COD4, I just don't now how the servers are if still up and would like a facelift even if a mini one before I consider even playing it for a bit.

I would really only play some of the games on that list if I never played them at all. Like I haven't played Splinter Cell Conviction, heard mixed things, but would still try it out if it was added on the BC list and I only owned an XONE.

Paytaa3680d ago

_-EDMIX-_ Yeah I would also prefer CoD 4 remastered because it's like next to impossible to play a non-hacked game on the current servers.

Would love to revisit it as it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

_-EDMIX-_3680d ago

@Pay- agreed if the servers weren't jacked up I would actually be completely fine with just playing the original version but because of how the build is I would kind of want them to just remaster it and just have better service so we could get more players playing.

Would not mind revisiting some Call of Duty 4 the only titles I could say I would actually play from BC on Xbox one would probably just be single player games that I missed last generation as I'm actually still playing a couple single player games on PlayStation 3 that I missed last generation.

Red Dead Redemption Hits 3.3 Million Netflix Downloads on Mobile

Red Dead Redemption hits 3.3 million Netflix downloads on mobile, underscoring how subscription access drives reach over paid sales.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83121d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv72123d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard122d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator121d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake121d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion155d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140154d ago (Edited 154d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
