Mod Note: That's Offensive

Christopher writes:

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to give a heads up that as the Beta site approaches live status, moderators may start using the beta site to moderate comments and submissions more often. Now, for submissions, things should be pretty much the same. But, for comments, if you're using the old site, you might notice that all comments are moderated as 'offensive'. That's just how the old site will interpret our moderation on the new site to the old site and doesn't mean you are being offensive. But, it's what you will see.

So, please don't post about why your comment was marked as offensive, it more than likely wasn't. If you have questions, PM me!

Will the same levels and types of moderation still be used on the beta (soon to be live) site?

Christopher3670d ago

There is a singular moderation type of 'inappropriate' that covers all current comment flagging types. Moderation will otherwise not change.

KentBenMei3669d ago

That's too bad because it should change. All too often it is strict and nonsensical but then at other times curiously lenient. Consistency should be maintained, and if I may suggest, staff should at east pretend to consider disputes made by moderated individuals rather than outright dismissing them.

Just got read a flag I had....thanks for this post. I was thinking someone hacked my account.

AuToFiRE3669d ago

Pfft, Ive never listened to you and I never will ;)

Thanks bunches for creating yet another safe space on the Internet for me. I don't know what I would do without the fair, unbiased mods at n4g protecting me from wrong-think. Don't forget bad words, there bad and I don't want to see them anymore. Do you think you guys could add a "trigger warning" flag to all stories that may offend me? (I get offended easily). Keep up the good work n4g, your helping save the world.

Will this affect your mobile friendly site?

Christopher3670d ago

The beta site is both mobile friendly and the desktop app.

Why was this comment marked as offensive? /s

lol anyways, when are we going to fully use the new site?

OoglyBoogly3670d ago (Edited 3670d ago )

I have a quick question! Since the new site is getting rid of bubbles but still going to have the Agree/Disagree stuff will those affect our ability to comment?

I ask because I'm wondering if it would be useful to have a "Delete" option for comments. And I ask because now if I leave some comment that doesn't conform with the Hive Mind I can lose a bubble just from it alone. So I'd rather be able to delete said comment before it causes more damage.

If the new site won't be affected at all by a internal/hidden bubble system then I won't really care about how much people Agree or Disagree with me.

I say this because as it is now the Beta site limits me to the number of comments to the number of bubbles that I have on the Classic site. They're definitely linked despite the Beta showing no bubbles.

Thanks!

Christopher3670d ago (Edited 3670d ago )

Nothing will affect your ability to comment other than being moderated.

WeAreLegion3669d ago

Bless you, admins. I am so happy about that.

Cool. Because offensive speech should never ever be tolerated. Discussions must never reach into deep territory.
