It doesn't even feel like E3 2015 was that long ago and we only have 2 more months until E3 2016. It's basically the Christmas season for gamers.

Can't wait for the Xbox, Sony, and Bethesda conferences.

shiva13707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

this is what my guess is

1) Gow4 campaign gameplay
2) totally new ip
3) original xbox compat/ all old pc classics now on win10/x1 or something big related to new xbox features.. may be pc to x1
4) new hardware reveal...controllers or small variant of x1 or.....something else.
5) crackdown/halo wars 2 gameplay
6) EA access and third party game BF5 or TF2 reveal
7) gigantic/sea of thievesgameplay
8) new ip
9) id @ xbox
10) third party - fallout/RDR or something
11) scalebound/forza
12) whats new with hololens.... relevant for gaming
13) a reboot of old game... surprise
14) pc & xbox

may be few of those listed will be moved to gamescom to accomodate new ips and third party reveals....or to show off gameplay.

gangsta_red3707d ago

Great predictions.

I also think MS is going to reveal an exclusive Japanese RPG. Call it a hunch.

3-4-53707d ago

* E3 this year is going to be awesome.

* I play games on PC,Wii U, Xbox One,3DS,Vita,PSP so for me personally, I have a lot to look forward to.

I'm even excited about what the PS4 has to offer because I may eventually buy one of those as well.

* I'm most excited for the Nintendo NX above all else though.

* Nintendo NX, Legend of Zelda U/NX, NX games lineup reveal, Mass Effect Andromeda, Dragon Quest 11, Sea of Thieves and tons of other games.

gangsta_red3707d ago (Edited 3707d ago )

Nintendo is the most interesting out of the three because of all the rumors about the controller, plus if they'll actually have a console that can compete with PS4/X1 and actually be at least up to par to play multiplat games.

XanderZane3707d ago

Yup, but it baffles me why they are always first to have their conference. It would be in their best interest to go later in the afternoon or actually doing it Tuesday morning. You want to close the show and not be the opening act.

jb2273707d ago

"You want to close the show and not be the opening act."

Not always...opened a show this weekend and ended up with the biggest crowd as it was a late show...people are bright eyed & bushy tailed for the openers & if they don't pace themselves they can tire & miss details by the closer. Journalists are going to be more well rested, excited & ready to cover the conference whereas by the time Sony's rolls around they may miss things. Sometimes it pays to be the first out of the gate because you set the pace & all others are being compared to you vs. The other way around.

Really the only benefit to going last would be the ability to shift things around or change your set up a bit based off of the reaction to the other guys, but I'd say MS knows what Sony is showing well before they show up, Sony has a history of leaking like a sieve.

melrex3707d ago

Like last year, MS will win E3 2016!

Thatguy-3103708d ago

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha nice joke man. Nice joke. Last yr they had a great E3 showing let's see if they can match it.

WeAreLegion3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

No. Definitely not. Last year was Sony by a mile. Did you actually watch E3?

Microsoft has done well in the past, but 2015 was all Sony.

slate913708d ago

No man no! It was close but I feel like MS edged out!

spicelicka3708d ago

I beg to differ. Sony has won many E3's in the past, but last MS won by a mile.

But I guess everyone has their own preference depending on the games they care about. I Just though Sony showed nothing vastly new other than Horizon, while MS had to withdraw and push 3 BIG exclusives to Gamescom.

Kiwi663708d ago

Except for the fact that MS had a good 2015 also so no it wasn't all Sony

game4funz3708d ago

If you mean the kickstarter shenmue joke im sorry no.
First time a kickstarter is promoted at e3...awful

If you mean the final fantasy 7 multiplat that will realease maybe by 2020..sorry no.

jb2273708d ago

@spice

Honestly wondering what was shown to claim they "won it by a mile"...all I can recall is BC, timed TR, Halo 5 section, Recore CG trailer (still no gameplay a year later), Sea of Thieves quick trailer, jury's out on what it was, CG or gameplay, still no info....honestly, anything I missed? Sony showed the Uc4 15 gameplay demo that many people loved, Horizon gameplay, Shenmue reveal, FF7 remake reveal, TLG reintroduction after many years dormant, etc....I can understand if you dug MS' E3 because it scratched your personal itches, but the majority of the gaming populace & most of the media outlets crowned Sony the king of E3, so to say they "won it by a mile" is beyond a stretch.

Sony & MS are on even grounds going into E3 this year, maybe MS takes it "by a mile" this time, maybe Sony brings outs heavy hitters...bottom line is they both have quality games already scheduled for the holidays, the winner is whoever makes good on those promises while piling on new updates & announcements, and anybody can take it.

3708d ago
jb2273708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

@messiah

The entire point of E3 is to show the future of gaming, it is a trade event open only to retailers. When you try to put some pointless constraints like "must only show what's coming this year", you miss the entire point. Also, you say that nothing Sony showed will see a release this year even though R&C is dropping tomorrow to rave reviews & Horizon and TLG are still on the docket for this year, along with a litany of others.

Even beyond that, I'm fairly certain that Recore & Sea of Thieves were revealed then & we still haven't seen proper gameplay demos for either of those titles. Sony revealed games that weren't coming that year but we saw actual gameplay of those games. That notion entirely destroys your argument. You are just repeating what Phil said, that doesn't make it gospel. End of the day, I know I'm speaking to a veritable brick wall, but most dedicated gaming outlets gave Sony's E3 the win, so put whatever weird constraints you need to put on it to feel they did a "better" job, but if you are going to do that then you need to remove MS' showing of Gears, unveiling of Recore & SoT and whatever they did for Fable Legends considering that doesn't exist anymore...that leaves you Halo 5, Forza & a timed exclusive. Still don't see how that somehow "wins by a mile" even going by your own logic.

Has nothing to do with what "Sony fans are aware of" & everything to do with weird constraints you put on what E3 is, flying in the face of what it has been since it's very introduction....it's fine if you dug MS' more, but to try to insinuate that Sony somehow "lost" based off of faulty logic is just mind boggling.

candystop3708d ago

E3 for me was almost a tie but Sony edged out MS with game play reveals. If MS would have shown Crackdown 3 footage at e3 it would of been in there favor. This year may the best team win. I'm for MS even though I feel VR will be where it's at this e3.

rigo85823707d ago

You take away Shenmue and FFVII remake, then Sony's E3 was pretty lame. Some indie games and a few 3rd party exclusive timed deals. Shenmue and FFVII made it to where it wasn't complete waste of two hours.

GrubsterBeater3708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

I'm sorry, but if you think MS really "won" E3 last year, then you are on some serious drugs, delusional, or didn't see or hear about Sony's E3. Seriously, what?! Lol

Even the majority of media, articles, and gamers/developers agree that Sony's E3 was the winner.
Sony delivered so many heavy hitting announcements that people were in shock. Pretty sure that didn't happen with MS's conference.

So many megatons, and they might even surpass last year's E3 once the next one happens come June.

maniacmayhem3708d ago

Xbox fanboys think MS won last year.

PS fanboys think Sony won last year.

Surprise, surprise.

AngelicIceDiamond3708d ago

MS announced hardware as well as games and new features to XbL. Pretty well rounded conference. Sony's showing was great, UC4, Horizon and Shenmue returning in particularly stood out to me. Other than that seemed like just a bunch of hootin and cheering for games we won't be seeing for a little while besides UC4 of course.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio38d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing38d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit38d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing38d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Xbox boss: Memory crisis could impact next-gen hardware pricing

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.

Eonjay40d ago

When does this end? Its killing everyone. Consoles and PC. And for what? AI? The benefits of AI are completely outweighed by the negatives. And the government should have never allowed one company to buy up all the RAM.

Lexreborn240d ago

This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.

This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.

I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet

Fishy Fingers40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

I mean.... what?

We're at a point that Samsung wont even provide their own phone department ram because they can sell it at higher prices to 3rd parties (AI). Its more profitable to sell the ram than make their own devices with it.

You think because R&D starts 5 years ago the 3rd party component manufacturers will honour that price? They'll sell it to whomever is paying the most today, not some gentlemens agreement they made years ago. AI farms will buy more volume at higher prices than any console manufacturer will. It'll be the same for Playstation.

Lexreborn240d ago

Contractual agreements are not the same as “gentlemen” agreements. If you think that they work with their distributors a month before production then their entire business model is trash. They work with companies like nvidia constantly for building the graphics cards they need. They work with companies that build motherboards years in advance. This is what proper business planning does.

They are not buying components on a whim like a consumer. So again, considering the ram isn’t a singular module and is integrated into the motherboard I highly doubt they wouldn’t have a final schematic that they are supposed to be building around.

If they are delaying production another 3 years then it’s obvious again this is an after though project and is just trying to be responsive to their bad execution they had the last 14 years.

It also isn’t far fetched to use their failure to produce first party titles the last 7 years including the highly anticipated games I mentioned all being cancelled. That they would continue to you know… lie

Sitdown40d ago

You don't really know how this works huh?

Profchaos40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Helix is going to be stupidly expensive

Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential

I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought

That's going to be ps6 vs Helix

Eonjay40d ago

Yeah with FSR 5 they should be able to offer a much cheaper version of Helix.

Eonjay40d ago

While this does seem to be the case, I am encouraged by the statement from Microsoft about wanting to provide affordable options. If this means a Series S style Helix, at least there will be something affordable being offered.

XBManiac39d ago

Series S is what has killed Xbox Series so... Will they dare?

blacktiger40d ago

It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs

pwnmaster300040d ago

Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

DarXyde40d ago

Another important lesson from this generation: while Nintendo showed us that prices don't necessarily need to ever drop, we've now learned that waiting 1-3 years does carry some risk that prices increase. This generation is just bizarre in all the wrong ways.

LucasRuinedChildhood40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

The factors are largely external. Covid and Russia-Ukraine war causing inflation led to the first price increase in 2022.

Then we get Trump's tariffs increasing hardware prices, AI boom causing a RAM crisis, war on Iran causing a worldwide fuel crisis which impacts the cost of everything.

Gaming doesn't exist in a vacuum. The last few years have been a shitshow and lot of it was definitely avoidable.

DarXyde40d ago

LucasRuinedChildhood,

For sure. No disagreement on the external factors doing a lot of this. Where I have to gently push back however is on two fronts:

1. The pandemic definitely caused some issues: asynchronous development was a big issue and really complicated timelines and affected game quality. At the same time, when it comes to price hikes, it's really difficult to know what was genuine necessity and what was taking consumers for a ride. The pandemic brought about "stag-flation" which was increasing prices and stagnant wages, which was a problem caused by supply chain constraints. There was also "Greed-flation", where companies that were slightly affected or had no issues took advantage of the situation and squeezed everyone citing supply chain issues when there were none.

2. It's definitely true that the tariffs, AI boom, and RAM crisis were all things enabled by tech broligarchs throwing money at this caricature of a world leader, one of them being Satya Nadella. I don't think Sony and Nintendo have contributed much to this problem if at all, but Microsoft's Nadella I feel was instrumental in causing every one of those issues. Microsoft as a company contributed to both candidates (though they gave Harris 4x as much if I recall), but Nadella was all in on letting AI run wild. He paid for unregulated AI, and got a war that's not a war (even though Trump called it that at least five times on television) that screwed up helium access. So for me, I feel that one of the players in the gaming industry is a key architect of these issues, and for that reason I struggle a bit to think of it as "external".

A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.

Reaper22_39d ago

Why would they pull out? They have the momentum. Sony has been getting nothing but bad news lately.
