If the NX ditches the Wii Brand and Strong Gimmicks, I will buy 1 even if I just get exclusives for it. there is like 10 awesome Wii U games i would like to play but I don't like the Wii U console itself so I had to skip them.

If these companies know that they want to upgrade their current system in a couple of years. Why not just offer a modular upgradable console from the beginning? Sony had its fans around here talking about the PS4 has custom supercharged PC parts and now they want to upgrade the PS4 because it isn't quite capable enough... People have to stop believing everything that they hear on the Internet.

If the NX was sufficiently more powerful then the PS4, which is quite simple, and it was fairly priced $399-499, and had 3rd party support, it would sell like hotcakes.

4-6 TFlops would definitely be that, and would be easily attainable on a 14/16nm node. Not that hot, and not that expensive either.

They could hit higher levels of power too, but then it would be more expensive. Even that would not be top end PC stuff for the upcoming GPU's.

A 4-6 TFlop part, especially coupled with a better, higher clock CPU would be sufficient for 1080/60 at higher quality graphics. It could even play some games at 4k no problem at 30 FPS. For instance, 4k/60 would be possible for say Battlefield 4 with even a 3.5-4 TFlop part with a decent CPU. At higher then PS4 graphical settings too.

Lots of people who haven't bought a PS4/XB1 yet, or people who were early adopters of either, plus all the general Nintendo fans would be eager to pick that up.

This could easily happen. EASILY.

A PS4k makes all the sense in the world for aligning Sony's goals of selling more 4ktv's, pushing UHD Blu ray (and selling those too), PSVR, and PS4k (to better serve PSVR and sell UHD Blu rays). It all fits together, aligns, and syncs up with each other. If you understand the term synergy... that's it exactly. 4 core products all interrelated, and all help drive the sales of the others. It makes an awful lot of sense.

So if Sony goes down that route, and it's similar in power (or even higher), it would definitely hurt Nintendo. They should still sell well, but suddenly there would be doubt. Sony could grab alot of NX money from people getting PSVR's, then upgrading their PS4's, and maybe a 4ktv. That would keep alot of people from buying an NX. People would be roadmapping this stuff. Say get the PSVR to use with their current PS4, then upgrade their PS4 to a PS4k, then buy a 4ktv. People could do that over half a year or year.

The PS4 has lots of momentum, and given a price decrease would continue to sell well. But lots of people want something better if possible. Lots of people want a competent Nintendo system. What would be really interesting is what happens with Microsoft.

The XB1 would then clearly be underpowered in comparison. It already is, but imagine a $100-150 pricedrop on a PS4, and the XB1 would be slower then a 2nd tier PS4. Hell it would then be the 4th most powerful console on the market.

They would be forced to cut price, and still be at a massive power disadvantage.

The odd man out would be the XB1.

When I think back to Spencer's comments how he doesn't want slight increases, this is probably why. If they do it, it forces Microsoft to create something, and they might be significantly behind the ball on this. Sony and Nintendo both might have caught Microsoft with it's pants down by getting out in front of everything first. Except this time Nintendo joins that party that Sony enjoyed last time.

So if these things exist, it spells trouble for Microsoft and the XB1.

Microsoft would have a tough decision to make. Do they rush like they did with the XB1 to throw something together and compete?

They could possibly try to one up them a couple years later, but it would destroy their momentum. They would have to jump into the 10nm node first to really get a significant advantage over a PS4k or NX.

It's a gamble if they do that, but so far they kept a good core base with all the XB1 fiascos. It might be possible.

But Microsoft could have figured what Sony and Nintendo were doing a few months ago and not be so far behind. Enough to catch up? Don't know. Enough to be at most a year behind if they want to make it only that much behind? Probably.

Either way, the monkey in the middle is clearly Microsoft in this situation... that is of course, if any of this exists.

We still need to find out what the PS4k is and what the NX is.

The PS4k might just be a UHD blu ray drive upgrade to the PS4. Or it may have slightly boosted power levels based on the same chip. A few hundred mhz faster on GPU and CPU clock levels. Not much but maybe another 20-30 percent more. Maybe something like 2.2-2.5 TFlops.

A NX might be underpowered like an XB1. It might be PS4 power or very near it. It might be a hybrid console. It could be something completely different.

If a PS4k and NX are both significantly more powerful then a regular PS4, and be reasonably priced, then both would sell pretty well. Nintendo wouldn't clean up, but would be very respectable. Sony would sell well. What sells better a PS4k or NX? Hard to say. But again, Microsoft would be the one caught flat footed. A NX could literally be 4x more powerful then an XB1 and it could launch probably at about the same price an XB1 did at $499. Maybe even $50 cheaper.

This 4.5 is perfectly fine as long as all games optimized for ps4, then the devs, if they want can enhance the 4.5 versions, but they have to make them strictly for 4 first.

don't make a game for 4.5 then downscale the heck out of it to get it to work on 4, with possible problems in doing so.

I'm sure the devs know this as does Sony. This is not a problem as long as they have self control.

Me personally I don't think the PS4.5 is a good idea 4k TV is not gonna be the norm til 2-3 years from now and by then the PS5 gonna come out, Nintendo is a league of it own PS4.5 post no tread to the NX if anything all the PS4.5 gonna do is upset PS4 owners

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
