Are Delays Becoming a Big Problem?

The wait for new entries in our favourite series can be agonizing, but it's all worth it when they finally come out...assuming they meet their projected release window.

I don't think delays are an issue. Just be wary of announcing games like 3-4 years in advance but giving a sense that it's coming soon.

Delays are only bad with wildcards like Duke Nukem Forever and things like that but delays weren't the sole cause of it being a shitty game.

freshslicepizza3756d ago

delays are not really a big issue, they happen, but we all know many of the games shown at places like e3 are just placeholders that you know will not make it out in a year. that to me is the problem, trying to create hype years in advance.

CitizenFour3756d ago

I agree that delays are not really a big issue... It's more of an issue when a game is pushed out before it's ready to avoid delays.. that makes for a bad game and angry consumers.

Delays are not a problem and very common nowadays as long as we are not talking about years delays.
Not the first time I see it but I dont get why Uncharted 4 is referred to when talking about delays like the pic here.
The game has only been delayed a few months which is quite reasonable and common.

Nope, but short games with no replay value are a big problem.

Bahamut3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

Depends on the price and quality of this short game. 20 bucks for a 5 hour game with a great story is still better than buying a 2-hour movie on Blu-ray. Just sayin.

thekhurg3756d ago

Short games with no replay value (Ryse, The Order, Quantum Break, etc...) don't launch at $20 though. They launch at $59.99 which is the main problem.

smashman983756d ago

@ppl like thekhurg: we've gotten a heads up that quantam break isn't long whatever price these games launch at is truly irrelevant. Because Ms and Sony aren't holding a gun to your head telling you to buy the game at 60 dollars. If you don't want it don't get it. And let those that do want games like quantam break buy their damn games in peace.

ShaunCameron3756d ago

But replay value is subjective, though. Due to technology, today's short games are longer than the short games of yesterday, and less difficult to play to boot.

ShellB3756d ago

Nope. I'm not the only one with a huge backlog of games still waiting to be played.

Khronikos3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

No, people that have jobs and other stuff to do don't give a flying shit. The only people crying about delays are tweens with way too much time on their hands.

Double_O_Revan3755d ago

To be honest, I was grateful for the Uncharted delay. I'm so busy all the time, that I didn't think I was going to finish Bloodborne before Uncharted came out. I did recently, but I'm still so busy in my everyday life.

Master-H3756d ago

Releasing broken games is a bigger problem. But announcing premature release dates and then having to delay is still a problem, albeit one that's sometimes hard to avoid, one that's affected by both, marketing strategies and game development.

rainslacker3755d ago (Edited 3755d ago )

I consider it more of an annoyance than a problem. At least for a game that I'm really looking forward to. I have real problems in my life I have to deal with...waiting for a game is not one of them. I use games to escape the problems...not have more.:)
