Such divisive scores. Kind of what I expected.

starchild3699d ago (Edited 3699d ago )

Yeah, it's interesting, as games have evolved and become more complex as an art form over time it seems we're seeing more and more of the kind of divergence of opinion that we see in other more mature mediums such as literature or film.

But unfortunately gaming also has a lot of fanaticism and brand loyalty, and that's almost certainly playing a part in the polarization of review scores as well.

@starchild
I totally agree with your statement..I feel/hope we are in a transitional stage when it comes to video games and how some of these games are delivered.

And yes there is certainly some "other factors" involved in these scores, that have nothing to do with the actual game, it sucks, but it is what it is. I am glad I get to play the game.

DarXyde3699d ago

I've been seeing mostly 8-9 with only one score going as low as a 6 in the form of a 3/5 score.

I'd hardly say that's divisive. I'd say it's been well received so far.

Rute3699d ago

There have been a couple of 2/5 scores as well (Time, Giant Bomb) but mostly the scores have been over 80.

Metacritic counts so far 47 reviews as 80+, 13 reviews as 50-80 and 2 reviews as less than 50 score.

DarXyde3699d ago

Sounds like it's doing fine.

Who asks Time or Giant Bomb for opinions of games? Extreme scores for the sake of it, it looks.

Neonridr3699d ago

How so Septic. Out of 62 currently posted to Metacritc 47 of them are positive. Equating to over 75%

Divisive would be more 50/50 don't you think?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing18d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit18d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing18d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
