I preordered and pay off half of this bad boy today .. it'll be the only game I can afford for a long time.

KiwiViper853708d ago

Sorry to hear that. Hope you financial situation improves soon.

Well thank you. All important things are covered. It's just difficult right now to purchase any games at full price. Hoping to get Uncharted 4 and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst in the Summer. Couldn't pass up Doom for day 1 though because I've been an id Software fan since Wolfenstein 3D and the original Doom :3

Sitting here playing the PC MP beta as we speak. I must say it has potential but at the moment it is a little stale.

Just finished playing the MP Beta for about 2 hours straight.....Let's hope the single player kicks ass because the multiplayer is very bad. I hope they have an open Beta so you guys/girls can formulate your own opinions. Not hating, I love the original Doom games, so I'm hoping the single player will carry this game.

What were the problems you had with it? I've not played the Beta but am excited for the game and genuinely curious.

Akira20203708d ago (Edited 3708d ago )

Hey Phantom.....there's no strategy whatsoever. It's just running around and killing; it's slow and clunky (nothing like you've seen in the video promos). I suck at FPS and was constantly in 1 or 2 place just by running behind my teammates and mopping up their kills (as everyone else was doing the same thing). It's a beta so I'm not going to knock the graphics and understand (and hope it's nowhere near how the finished game will look), but it's slow and clunky. For a TDM, there was no fun, and the loadout systems were extremely stale.

If you're one of the numerous players who are camping out the demon spawn points (and happen to become a demon), there's no contest; everyone dies until the demon ability runs out. Players can't even post up to battle the demon because it's instant kills (much worse then Star Wars:Battlefront's Luke or Vader; at least there you had time to prepare and be strategic ...not here in Doom).

Granted, if this were 1995, I'd say fine, but with all the improvements on the FPS genre over the past 15/20 years, this one is going the way of Duke Nukem....it feels just like it. As mentioned prior, I really want people to try it out so they can formulate their own opinions.

Since Wolfenstein The New Order was so awesome, I'm hoping the single player will push this title forward. I truly hope ID works out the kinks and listens to the feedback we've sent in; but with the release date coming up; I don't know. :/

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil381d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.

It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.

Gamingsince1981470d ago

Weird games in general we don't get enough of, we need more games like Katamari and Mr domino, things like that
