Excellent video nice surprise that HDR is coming to windows 10 for gaming too! They say they are using the HDMI standard for HDR so that means HDMI 2.0 so in order for XB1 to get it they need new Sku with HDMI 2.0(a). If you have HDMI 2.0 GPU it can get upgraded to HDMI 2.0A only HDMI 2.0 can get upgrade not HDMI 1.4 as it not supported due to bandwidth limitation. These brings more credence to a new XB1 sku.

dreadz743723d ago

Sure we don't know for sure if another XB1 sku is coming. The facts for HDR and 4k are laid out in my original post you can't have HDR without HDMI 2.0a. So the disagrees should not be as what I said is factual.I try to educate those that don't know SMH https://www.youtube.com/wat...

TheCommentator3722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

The video display bandwidth of the XB1 is 3.9GB/sec as shown in MS slides. (according to AMD in their slides about Display Port 1.3, which has 4GB/sec bandwidth, it's about 80% more bandwidth than HDMI 2.0). You can look that up too and post it for me when I get disagrees if you like.

dreadz743722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

@commentator yes xb1 has the video bandwidth but without HDMI 2.0 you cant deploy it period. Example R9 290 has the bandwidth but only HDMI 1.4 port in order to get the bandiwdth they used a display port(which has 21.6 gps bandwidth) and then a adapter to convert it into HDMI 2.0 . Second hdmi 1.4 is 10.2 gps HDMI 2.0 is 18 gps. without a port to handle the bandwidth you can't do it even though gpu has bandwidth available. XB1 does not have a display port only a HDMI 1.4 port you can't overcome the HW limitation.

HDMI 2.0, referred to by some manufacturers as HDMI UHD, was released on September 4, 2013. HDMI 2.0 increases the maximum TMDS per channel throughput from 3.4 Gbit/s to 6 Gbit/s which allows for a maximum total TMDS throughput of 18 Gbit/s. That allows HDMI 2.0 to carry 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps).

Here is a link for the Display port to hdmi 2.0 adapter like I stated the gpu can do it but HDMI port does not have the bandwidth available you are incorrect.

Many educated people also said HEVC and BC weren't possible, and look where we stand now. The XB1 has abilities, like VM coding for it's multiple OS, that allow it to change how it behaves in substantial ways(like BC, a new OS, and new API). Who's to say that the output stage of the XB1 isn't also programmable via the XB1's VM capabilities? What would be the reason for XB1 to have 3.9GB/sec output if it is limited to about a third of that by the HDMI interface? To speculate a little bit, what if MS used an FPGA for the output stage(I know this is just a wild theory I came up with)? You seem really knowledgable, and these are honest questions I hope you can share your ideas with us about.

dreadz743722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

@TheCommentator Hevc is a codec HDMI 1.4 is HW you can't overcome the HW all HDMI 1.4 are built the same. You can't just build a HDMI port how you like you must make it to spec. MS They do not own HDMI every company in the world that has HDMI has to make to spec this is required. All HDMI 1.4 port have the bandwidth 10.2 gps no more is available period. If more bandwidth was avaible then AMD would just flash all their HDMI 1.4 ports. They can't and gave an official answer https://community.amd.com/t...

So all this FPGA Nonsense does not apply as the HW is locked. Simply put the Bandwidth is not available on HDMI 1.4. Not one HDMI 1.4 port has ever and will never be updated to HDMI 2.0. If so then why would a new port even be created#Logic The HDMI chip is not present to handle the bandwidth a new port is needed period. No DP on XB1 Only HDMI 1.4 which can't do HDR or 4K60HZ because the bandwidth is 10.2 gps not the needed 18gps . Think as the HDMI 1.4 as a Bottleneck anyways your wrong very wrong.

Seriously many GPU's actually most have the bandwidth they never planed for 4k 60hz or HDR . 7970 has the bandwidth but it's port HDMI 1.4 and made many years ago? so please this argument about why would they have the bandwidth is flawed most top-mid Gpu's in last 5 years have had the bandwidth.HDMI forum wrote the spec for HDR 4K@60hz and it requires 18 GPS and HDMI 2.0 port. You will see these ports on new box and NX too.

TheCommentator3722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

You're being a bit cynical about this, honestly I expected a bit more of an explanation from you.

Some companies that make electronics, during the transition, claimed to be able to upgrade 1.4 ports on their UHD TV's to the 2.0 standard via a firmware update, so your statement is not entirely true. Also, I don't think you know what an FPGA is since you said they don't matter because the hardware is locked. Field Programmable Gate Arrays are not locked, they are told how to behave after they're installed and can be reprogrammed to behave differently at any time. Anyways, it was nice trying to talk to you, but I think we're done here because you're not serious about this discussion anyways.

Look, I'm not even sure the XB1 has any FPGA's inside of it, but if it did then an upgrade would be possible because the port itself is the same. The hardware that feeds the port is what's different, which is where FPGA comes into play and allows for upgrades to be possible.

dreadz743722d ago (Edited 3722d ago )

@TheCommentator I already spelled it out for you even linked it from AMD where they say XB1 cant get the update to change port from HDMI 1.4 to HDMI 2.0. The Companies claiming to be able to upgrade HDMI 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 never were able to do it as they said it to sell more devices. The company that promised it actually had to replace the ports on the device with brand new HDMI 2.0 ports. They never upgraded it with FW but changed the HW uner warranty.

I have explained it in detail so if you want to believe that XB1 can get HDMI 2.0 update from HDMI 1.4 you are free to do so. The reality is that it can't and you will see this to be true when New SKU is released with the port. There is only one place on the net that believes what you do so you can take ur Nonsense back to MRXmedia. XB1 does not have FPGA in it and it would not matter as HDMI chips are not reprogrammable to change physical characteristics and bandwidth SMH. HDMI ports HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 must be made to spec set out by HDMI forum . Are you not tired of the lies open ur eyes and come back to reality buddy sheesh. Bottom line you can't overcome the HW and lack of bandwidth on the port. The HDMI chip can't have bandwidth that is not available to it the port can't do 18gps if XB1 had a Display port it could be converted it does not end of story. Time to grow up and realize Santa is not real and the ones that told you so lied. I have given you hard evidence straight from AMD and straight fact that HDMI 1.4 only has 10.2 gps available to transmit to the tvand is not up-gradable. Hey I love my XB1 but enough is enough with all this silly talk of hidden power and chips.

So we looking at 1st or 2nd quater 2017 for DX12.1 games by then could be DX12.2

hiredhelp3722d ago

Disagrees ha stupid go watch the full video you hear in his words..

TheCommentator3722d ago

You're right. 12.1 games are going to take a while to develop and publish, and by then devs will be working on 12.2 hardware specs. I don't understand why people around here insist that as soon as the API gets launched that games immediately offer full support for it. It's a slow process.

Eyesoftheraven3723d ago

Why am I watching this even though I have no idea what any of this implies? C99/sddlib compat ... wohoo!

Pretty cool. Should help devs adopt more modern rendering techniques on both PC & Xbox rather than have to target old versions to cover the majority of their users.

Here comes another feature update that resets my settings.

Profchaos2202d ago

If it doesn't delete your files ala 1809 consider it a minor victory

1nsomniac2202d ago

I’ve noticed they do this as well.

I wonder how they legally get away with stealthily resetting all the privacy settings to allow tracking and monitoring without notifying you. It was only by chance I noticed it last time.

2202d ago
Unspoken2201d ago

Any software you use does this unfortunately.

1nsomniac2201d ago (Edited 2201d ago )

I think you’re misunderstanding what happens. All your windows settings remain untouched, it doesn’t change any of your settings accept Those related to your privacy. So all those privacy settings you agreed not to share during the installation and other privacy terms that you agreed not to share, within the privacy options page, even your offline linked windows accounts. It secretly enables all of those options without notifying you that it’s changed your selected options that both parties had agreed to. I don’t think they’ll be allowed to continue to do that under GDPR laws so we’ll see if it happens again. However unfortunately for me being in the UK, we won’t have GDPR laws for much longer after we leave the EU.

I don't have any problems, so the issue is probably someone who thinks Bill Gates has anything to do with the development of Windows in its current form.

Crash, the END. That's what'll happen.

Asuka2202d ago (Edited 2202d ago )

As a note: WDDM 2.7 requires you to have updated drivers (which currently no official WQHL driver w/ support is available for Nvidia yet. Only development branch 450.xx). Also you need a 7th gen or newer Intel CPU w/ igpu, or a 10 series or newer Nvidia GPU, or latest AMD offerings.

WGAF2202d ago

Last time I update, the ethernet driver wasnt available so no matter what (even factory reset) I can't go online. The only way to update is to go online lol. Well I always wanted an offline laptop, so I guess got what I wish for :/

Fishy Fingers2202d ago

Use wifi (or tether to the device your posting from now) and download the driver.
