Heavy Rain Tech Demo vs Gameplay comparison

TalkPlayStation.com writes:"Many people are slightly dissapointed in Heavy Rain and we've heard people say that the visuals have took a downgrade since the tech demo that was shown all the way back at E3 2006. We've finally seen some actual gameplay footage of the game, shown at the Leipzig Games Convention 2008 just a few days ago.

We've put together a screenshot comparison for you to take a look at."

gameplay looks better easily

cliffbo6475d ago

yeah, that's what i thought. the face looks far more lifelike. a comparison is unfair anyway because the demo was to show off the girls acting, not the games graphics

aceitman6475d ago

he's been putting this game down since the beginning of the game show is ms putting money in your pocket too the game looks good its a different type of game if you dont like the style then dont talk or look at it judge on things you like it looks like a movie the closes thing too one so talkplaystation take your sorry talking some where else and stop hating

Statix6475d ago

Who are the "many people" who say it's downgraded? Mostly everyone I've seen has said the new gameplay looks amazing. To my eyes, it undoubtedly looks like an upgrade, visually.

sonarus6475d ago

Lol at downgraded visuals.

Danja6475d ago

I actually prefer the gameplay visuals , looks more realistic and less like plastic.....

or did u guy just look at the title??? talkplaystation saying that some people are saying the tech demo looks better but that they at talkplaystation think the gameplay video looks better then the tech demo. u people really need to read the article not just look at the title before putting your comment.

here what they said for all u that don't read article before putting comment. "If you enlarge the image above you’ll see that the tech demo is almost identical to the actual gameplay visuals. In fact, some of the gameplay visuals look slightly better than the tech demo especially the colouring." from talkplaystation

the gameplay is a lot nicer looking. They actually surpassed their target from 2006. The girl looks hot in the gameplay video but creepy in the 2006 trailer. This is the most amazing visuals I have seen yet in a console game.

JasonXE6475d ago

there is gameplay in heavy rain???

Bathyj6475d ago (Edited 6475d ago )

Many people must mean Mart and POG.

The new build is much better. The Uncanny Valley that everyone loves talking about, yet never heard of it till The Casting came out, is gone. The face of the new girl a much more believeable.

It was all almost all gameplay. The fact you're confused and think it was all cutscene (and real time cutscene at that) is quite a compliment to the devs, even though you didn't mean it to be. Thanks for your stupid imput.

Well take your pick or flip a coin because either way there's not much in it. Some I prefer the render, some the game (mainly the game).

But hell, it's not even finished, it's only going to get better. Also the rumour is that this is just a constructed "scene" for GC, it wont actually be part of the game. Madison (your character) may not even be the "lead" or even in the game. I think they're really concerned with keeping the story/script under raps.

chaosatom3336475d ago (Edited 6475d ago )

i thought both were gameplay.

Tobias1236475d ago

I'm curious about that as well. Out of all the things I've heard about Heavy Rain, the tech demo visuals being better than the game visuals is not one of them...

Raoh6475d ago

this is a terrible article

shouldnt of been approved...

Lord Shuhei Yoshida6475d ago

As long as the game is on schedule, its all good

Cajun Chicken6475d ago

...Need cataracts removed, fast.
The detail on the face in the gameplay looks simply amazing and the gameplay video also has far advanced lighting and shading.
The lead characters lips look gorgeous.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe2007d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG2007d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2007d ago (Edited 2007d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
