PSVR will be by itself in the realm of console VR. OR, Vive and a few others will be duking it out on the PC side. But in all honesty I see the PC side having a more harmonious environment. Meaning there will be potentially more gamers using these devices in various multiplayer ways. Or and Vive (among others) gaming together on systems of varying CPU grades and memory amounts.

While on the console side you have just one player... sony. That is unless someone comes along and makes a universal HMD for both PS4 and XB1. then both camps can use VR to play together in multiplayer games thanks to PSN / XBL (potentially) playing nice together.

Ms doesn't really have a VR solution and I don't know if they are working on one. But they are ready for one should there be one available, meaning the kinect camera would be required so they got that part covered.

Oculus will work some day with xbox, they already showed streaming to it

"While on the console side you have just one player... sony. "

How is that a bad thing? The pressure is on Sony to make VR work and stick in the console businesses. Sony has proved this gen that they know how to deliver what we want and they know we want as many games and VR experiences as we can get.

Cinema Mode alone proves this, so lets give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Hardware: Advantage Rift
"Look, Sony has come right out and said it: the PlayStation VR isn't as powerful as the Oculus Rift. With PS VR, we'll be looking at a single OLED display, 1920x1080 resolution, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Rift features an OLED display for each eye, cranking out visuals at a resolution of 2160x1200, and even the minimum spec PCs powering this thing are going to be capable of more than what the PlayStation 4 can handle."

Since I already have a VR ready PC rig and a PS4, it is a no brainer for me to choose the Rift if I were to choose a VR device in the future. Better hardware and spec.

For the majority of the population though that don't have a PC ready gaming Rig, PSVR is their only option and it should be fine just like many games that are on both console and PC today like COD, Battlefront, SFV and Quantum Break where the majority play on consoles. Nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with choosing the superior product with better specs.

lastking953716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

@dark really? Odd considering so many couldn't grasp that concept when it come to pc vs console. The extra $100 might be worth it.

lastking953716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

No $100 , it's $500 OR is $600 do the math.

DragonDDark3716d ago

In not buying the move and camera. I already have those. Do the math yourself

lastking953716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

And you paid $100 for those lol $100+$400=$500; 600-500=100

ziggurcat3716d ago

You can't include peripherals that were purchased long before PSVR was even known to have existed.

He's only paying $399 for the device, therefore it is a $200 difference.

less than 1% have a pc powerfull enough to to do VR you figure out who's gonna sell the most....

My pc just barely meets specs i have a r9 290 so that's bottom side of the specs.

but i also have a ps4.

i've tried all 3 vive oculus and psvr, it's definatly ps vr for me did not notice any major difference in quality of graphics in the games i played: London heist, portal thingy on the vive, some racer on the rift.

the vive did look a bit sharper but both rift and vive were bad experiences because they were forcing my glasses to dig into my nose bridge, and guess what PS VR didn't even touch my glasses.

Also, have you seen the minimum room requirement for VIVE not too many people will have that

dennigo3716d ago

oculus and ps vr at gameforce antwerp: 10 october 2015

Vive at tech show in mechelen can't remember exact date but it was in january 2016

Artemidorus3716d ago

Oculus hands down beats PSVR that is fact due to the specs and will be able to perform more.

Sony did the right thing they provided good affordable entertainment (or extended entertainment for the Playstation 4) for everyone.

SynestheticRoar3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

Outward Oculus looks flimsy made in appearance to PSVR. Look at that pic. The guy in need of a shave. Looks like he going diving.

darthv723716d ago

Um... I think that unit in the pic is the DK2 version and not the retail one. And so... you got a thing against people with beards?

I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.

Neonridr357d ago

Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.

OtterX357d ago (Edited 357d ago )

Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.

It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!

Yeah. Not the best dev by a long shot, but I've heard Bulletstorm improved a lot after the initial launch and all the complaints.

Abnor_Mal433d ago

I bought Bulletstorm VR but couldn’t get into it at the time, the controls were a bit off, but at the time I was finishing up Arizona Sunshine1/2. Most likely the reason the controls felt off, plan to go back to it soon.

I really wanted to love Outriders. I was hooked on it at first but it was so janky the further I got into it. I had to force myself to finish the game. I liked it just enough to buy the expansion but I burned through that jankfest also. It sorta gave me Division 2 vibes a little bit and that's what helped me through it. I don't think I would trust any of their VR stuff anyway.
