With the holiday shopping season now over with, it appears as if the demand for the Sony Playstation 3 console has eased up enough that people can just walk into certain stores and pick one up. FiringSquad contacted two Best Buy stores in the Greenville-Spartanburg SC area today around 5 pm EST and employees at both stores told them that they had PS3 in stock with one having arounf 5 or 6 units available and the other having a whopping 20 PS3 units to sell.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
...they sell like sh!te ?
Sony is now going to learn the hard way that you can't take people for idiots.
You treat people like s**t and LIE to them then they're going to snub you.
R.I.P SONY PLAYSTATION3
Sunday, my local Walmart had 3 PS3s in the display case, they may have had more on hand,(I don't know) the case only had room for the 3 I saw. Yesterday (Monday), Best buy had 19 PS3s on the floor; 12 in a floor stack and seven on the shelf in the Playstation aisle. No takers while I was in the store, and according to the sales flyers, they were put out the day before.
Same situation at Target in San Jose, CA. Day after Christmas I saw a PS3 sitting in the display, was surprised to see it wasn't sold out until reading this.
...people were opting for the Wii over the PS3 (which is far too expensive right now) and the Xbox 360 because, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Wii is all about just having fun.
One of the big reasons the PS2 was so popular was because of its price and how it was aimed at kids (i.e. Eye-Toy, Singstar, Buzz - dont under estimate the importance of the kids market!). The PS3 at the moment is not aimed at kids (even though some kids will have one) and therefore does not as yet have mass market appeal.
As a parent, if I were to walk into a store and see Gears of War or Resistance playing, I would head straight for the Wii as I would not want my kids playing either of those two games. And I'll bet I'm not alone on that one.
