Carbine Studios, the developer behind NCSoft’s Windstar MMO, has suffered a number of layoffs. The publisher confirmed the news to Game Informer this afternoon.
NCSoft says that the move reorganizes in the wake of canceling the MMO for the Chinese market. This also reflects the transition of Wildstar to a “live title” rather than one in development.

Justin van Huyssteen from NoobFeed writes - The Metaverse is a nebulous concept that has been floated about, by some, as the next big thing, and people often want to jump on board these kinds of things. Metaverse has been in the news a lot, but should it be in the news as often as it is? Or is it just another gimmick?
I have no interest in a metaverse, just give me a good single player game. And to answer your question: no, it isn't.

Carbine Studios announced in September that the game would be shut down and that the studio would be closing. Since the announcement, players have been able to enjoy the full game without restriction and with a number of in-game events firing off for the last time.

WildStar offers epic high adventure, where players make their mark as Explorers, Soldiers, Scientists or Settlers and lay claim to a mysterious planet on the edge of known space.
It's always sad news when game devs are hit/forced to downsize. Best wishes with those losing their jobs.
I feel bad for these devs, I remember being interested in this game and wanting to play it...but then I just got slammed with too many other games....seems like it must be hard to be a game dev these days. Hopefully someone throws these guys a recruitment event.
Don't worry Sony will snatch them up
I've tried the game, and then promptly deleted it. The whole experience felt very generic. Never at any time do I feel connected to the world and it's inhabitants.
Right from the start, you are told to shoot this collect that go here do that. It just felt like a very linear experience. While telegraphs are an interesting idea, eventually there are so many of them mixed together, you just don't bother anymore.
Had they started off as f2p instead of pretending that subscription was a better idea, it would probably be better. I cant imagine they expect anyone to pay a monthly fee for this.
Not much entertainment even if it was f2p. I expect this game to close down in 1 year or even lesser.
