Changes at BioWare Studios:

"Today, I have some difficult changes to announce that affect some of our EA Studios teams and projects.

After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Mass Effect: Andromeda, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of BioWare in the US.

These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios. The BioWare team has delighted millions of fans with the Mass Effect series over the past decade...."

TheColbertinator3753d ago

I thought Bioware was from Canada.

NapalmSanctuary3753d ago

I get the feeling that there is a lot of corporate interference on the new ME. If that is true, get ready for disappointment.

-Foxtrot3753d ago

I feel like it's going to be like ME3

A huge over the top third person action shooter with little focus on the RPG elements despite the marketing telling us there is.

This is not while prioritising most of their team on the multiplayer side of things. Something which is fun for an hour or two but is so repetitive you get bored after a while.

NapalmSanctuary3753d ago

I never played ME. Every time I consider it I get reminded of how disappointed people were with ME3 and that is very discouraging so I just don't.

Khaotic3753d ago

Despite performance issues on ME 1, mostly due to ambition and hardware limitations I think, it was the best game of the series for me and the best sci- fi game of last gen. Chasing Saren and discovering the reapers. It still gives me chills thinking about it. I played through the game 7 times at about 50 hours per play through.

Kreisen3752d ago

Oh they certainly will focus on something, the DLC that is.

Every game sees departures, but it's not often that games see so many high profile departures. It really does seem like there is something going on over there.

joab7773753d ago

It may just be an internal struggle over the direction of the game, which is never good.

Now, do I think that this will disrupt the release for next year? No. Do I think it will be a AAA quality game. Yes. Will it have the heart and soul that once embodied Bioware games when they pushed genres and innovated un various ways? No.

I'm guessing that EA is heavily involved and some ppl have taken issue with this. Will it still be a good game and very successful? Most likely.

For All Its Flaws, Mass Effect: Andromeda's Approach to Romance is Something ME4 Can Learn From

While Mass Effect: Andromeda was let in several key areas, one of its approaches to romances is something Mass Effect 4 should consider revisiting.

I hope Mass Effect 4 ignores the inferior prequels and instead closely follows the far superior Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition.

anast513d ago (Edited 513d ago )

Mass Effect 4 should just make Mass Effect 1 but better with current tech. Fans would be happy. As far as romance, they should take notes from the Witcher and Cyberpunk.

Ristul512d ago

Later Bioware games have to little build up. You can have a normal conversation and all of a sudden BAM! The character you talk to becomes super flirty.

TricksterArrow512d ago

Reminds me of Baldur’s Gate. I wanted to practice some magic and Gale made it super weird. Not even gonna mention Astarion.

gold_drake512d ago (Edited 512d ago )

iii dunno about that.

the only really great and funny dating partner, is that outlaw guy anyways haha he was funny as hell.

other than that, i found every character to be very annoying.

Shout out to Keri the Asari reporter. Current relationship status be damned as she's game either way. Anything for a good story. 🤣

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast554d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine554d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast554d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman554d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast554d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

BioWare Thinks Mass Effect Andromeda Was Better Game Than Reception Suggested

BioWare thinks Mass Effect: Andromeda was a better game than what reception suggested; taught the studio not to shoehorn open-world without any meaningful content in it.

thorstein589d ago

I played it and it wasn't as bad as people said. Is it in the 8-10 range? No.

It's a 6-7, which means it's a solid game.

LordoftheCritics589d ago (Edited 589d ago )

Veilguard and Andromeda are of similar level to me.
6 to 6.5 ish

Though I think i enjoyed Andromeda's combat and sense of scale a little bit more.

XBManiac588d ago

Veilguard has better graphics.

neutralgamer1992589d ago

I agree with you It was a 6.5 type game. Gameplay was solid everything else was lacking. Playing at launch with all the issues was just absurd. EA could have let the developers keep patching and fix the game but they stopped just like they did with anthem. It’s crazy to think multi billion dollar publishers can’t afford to keeping patching their games get medium size developers can support the game for years

But when you have android wilson running the company what else can we expect.

OtterX589d ago

Except 6-7 doesn't translate as solid. 6 means a bit flimsy, but still good/enjoyable if you can look past the flaws. 7, a little less flimsy, and enjoyable. 8-10 would be "solid".

But I get your point. I skipped the game entirely, so I don't have an opinion on it.

H9589d ago

I played this game back when I wanted to give every game I bought a fair chance and finish it, it was the reason why I stopped doing so, god the game was bad

TheNamelessOne589d ago

I actually enjoyed Andromeda. It wasn't a 10/10, by any means, but I played it years after the fact, after a lot of patching, and I had a good time with it.

anast589d ago

Same, I enjoyed it too. I might even replay it soon.

TheNamelessOne589d ago

Might do the same, honestly. Went through the trilogy a couple months back.

raWfodog589d ago

I liked it as well, and also played it for the first time over a year after it was released. The original trilogy was a better story overall IMO but I still enjoyed Andromeda.

lellkay589d ago

The game is so unbelivably bad, it's laughable.

pwnmaster3000589d ago (Edited 589d ago )

It really wasn’t. Well for me nd I’m a big fan of the series.
Was it mass effect standard? No
But overall I thought it was a decent game.
6-7/10.

Armaggedon589d ago

You might want to try playing a truly bad game. Go boot up two worlds or gollum to get the perspective you need

MatrixxGT589d ago

Wow, two worlds…red ringed my 360.

Armaggedon589d ago

Lol. Its one of the only games that I have experienced buyers remorse with. The only one I can think of is riders Republic.

matt139589d ago

So delusional, the title was an embarrassment to the original trilogy. it’s the equivalent of 2042 to the battlefield franchise.

thorstein589d ago

2042 had a redemption arc and what exists now is a pretty good FPS.
