Let's Play: The Culling

HeyPoorPlayer's Jonathan Trussler writes: "In my first ever Let’s Play, I take on the closed alpha build of The Culling: a first person survival game where contestants must battle to the death in the style of The Hunger Games. Can I figure out the magical crafting system and make a medkit out of two sticks? Can I find my Jennifer Lawrence to help me to victory? Can I beat the odds and survive The Culling? Will I die in a variety of excruciating and hilarious ways? Find out by watching the videos below!"

This game just kind of... came out, didn't it?

BrickHardcastle3718d ago

Yup, but was in closed alpha when I was playing it XD

Skate-AK3718d ago

Looks like a much more polished version of Zeno Clash.

BrickHardcastle3718d ago

That's a lot of it! It's got the more in-depth visceral melee combat of Zeno Clash with so of the crafting of Rust, in a focused Hunger Games style deathmatch.

Disgraceful business practice. The game deserves to fail and it's guaranteed to. You keep patting yourself on the back there Josh but this game wont be making a "comeback" a third time.

Servbot412186d ago

This the actual stupidest monetization ever.

staticall2186d ago

You know what's bizzare - their monetization makes lootboxes seem not that bad. I mean, at least you'll be playing the game. Maybe that was the goal?

Lostbytes2186d ago

HARD Pass, on this one.....

The Culling’s 'Per-Match' Monetization Cannot Be Allowed to Spread

The idea is out there now, so everyone needs to start watching out for it. If it ever shows up in another game, the community must come together and make it clear that gamers do not want it. It’s the only way we’ll all be able to continue enjoying our online games like we always have.

Sad as it is, you already know someone is going to be dumb enough to defend this pay per match nonsense.

What's next? Pay-per bullet, pay-per ammo refill, Pay-per distance traveled?

I won't even say anymore in gest, don't want to give them ideas

Gridknac2186d ago

LOL, I've been screaming this since the introduction of MT. This is what you get when people spend billions on cosmetics and xp boosters.

lodossrage2186d ago

Yeah, anyone with common sense could have seen stuff like this coming.

But the problem is enough people kept defending MT and making excuses for them. Even as things got/get worse, you'll still find people defending it.

I keep telling people, your words mean nothing, your wallet means everything. People need to speak with their money and not their mouths.

spicelicka2186d ago

So in other words, this game needs to be culled.

What a terrible idea. This game can f$&@ off with a system like that

_dangerclose_2190d ago

"pay to play", that's some serious anti-consumer garbage right there. "the new monetisation approach is curious." yeah that's one way to put it.

Soulrakk2190d ago

As if people were playing it before. This will surely engage them to play it. /s

RamRod882190d ago

Wow, that is some next level scummy and dumb honestly. How is the player base ever going to grow with something like this in place? This one deserves to die.

MetroidFREAK212190d ago

What the f... That is absolutely outrageous and I really hope this fails. FFS
