Edge writes: "Notorious by the seemingly-impossible glossiness of its E3 2005 pre-rendered 'graphical target' demo, Killzone 2's history to date has been anything but impressive. But at Games Convention 2008, the lengthy demo for the game underlined why Sony has spent so much time and money on the title alternatively labeled a 'Halo 3-killer' and/or 'the most expensive multimedia project ever undertaken in Holland'.
The first thing to point out, however, is that the things people didn't like about Killzone on PlayStation 2 are still in evidence. There's no jump. The camera wobbles around all over the place whenever you run, reload or throw grenades. The art palette remains a mixture of over-saturated blooms and a thousand different shades of grey. The Helghast are still an impersonal enemy with day-glo orange goggles on their heads."

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.
1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland
I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.
Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
More idiocy from Edge, trying to sound witty and clever. Obviously they wrote the first Killzone off enough to not know anything about the Helghast.
For anyone who doesn't know what i'm talking about, here's a little explanation taken from Wikipedia:
"In the game, the Helghast are a faction of human descendants who colonized the planet Helghan many generations ago. The planet's harsh environment forced the Helghast to adapt and mutate so much that they can no longer be considered human. They are stronger, faster and more resilient than their human brothers, and possess a burning hatred for humanity. Except for a small number of half-breed Helghast and trained troopers, they require a gas mask and air processing tank that creates air similar to that found on the planet Helghan."
Of course the Helghast are cold and impersonal - they are forced to be that way due to their exile. What a bunch of ignorant Edge BS! Everyone says Edge is one of the best publications out there, but I think that they always have their heads too far up their own collective asses.
It's also unfortunate that many people wrote Killzone 1 off due to the concept of the game getting ahead of the actual technological performance, because Guerrilla actually managed to make a compelling storyline that's worth following. I kind of don't want to see the game butchered by turning into a movie, but in my opinion the story would be worth the big screen treatment.
BTW, the only, and I repeat ONLY people who consider Killzone to be a a "Halo Killer" are idiots in the media and stupid fanboys who take things way out of context. Never has Sony, nor Guerrilla ever once called any of the KZ games a "Halo Killer".

I remeber readign one of his earlier previews n it alos sucked...
They do go on to state "Killzone 2 is perhaps the first game to be worthy of the label PlayStation 3-killer app...What’s really impressive about the game though are the smaller details, like the solidness of all characters with their chunky body armor and overstated battle-worn animations. Sure it’s motion capture touched up with keyframes, but looking at it you know where a large chunk of Sony’s money went and also know that it was money well spent." There is more praise but I'm a tad lazy and I'm at work so I shouldn't even be on here to copy and paste it!
Edge started with the caveat and moved onto the good bits. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere else that jump is now included in the game.
