i really like the whole idea, but the creature is way too sharp (graphical wise), that it doesn't fit with the lower resolution camera background together, the devs should spend some extra time on postprocess effects.

I am not going to lie.......I want this game.......and I will use my super powers to convince my wife that we need it. This game has so much potential....and if all the other animals are as cute as the monkey......then not only will ps3s movies, but it will help establish an even greater based for future games that utilize the eye toy.

lil' lombax or mky favorite, petzombie. you could feed him brains and draw stick figures for him to chase arround the screen. you could control the stick figure and and see how long can u survive. that would be awesome

this looks positively boring, i seriously hope Sony has some hardcore games to show at Leipzig...because so far, announcing some new Singstar game, this and Savage Moon for the PSN is not enough

are you stupid? i said LEIPZIG, they showed GOW3 at E3 and that is awesome... very awesome, but im saying that they made a huge fuss about Leipzig and if all they have to show for themselves is Savage Moon, Gti+, Singstar Vol.3 and EyePets on the games side then thats a dissapointment

on the bright side, the hardware and music stuff that they showed was excellent- and the new Heavy Rain footage is amazing

all im saying is... where's Uncharted 2? where's Jak 4 and stuff like that

Sony is definantly going after the Casual Audience with EyePet. You would think that something like EyePet would be on the Wii before PS3, but Sony is definantly going to attract some casual gamers with it.

I can already imagine what will be drawn to chase the monkey around.

It like a freakin addiction its so cute... I think I'm gonna die. I was annoyed when I first heard about this game but after seeing the screenshots I'm jsut worried my GF will discover this game bc I may never play my PS3 again...

i probably won't buy this game, but it's certainly adorable.

games like this really help to push the PS3 as a device for the whole family:

Parents: Blu Ray movies and games like Uncharted, Heavy Rain, MGS4, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2 (if the parents are gamers). web access will probably appeal to some parents who like to check their mail or news (Life with Playstation brings that aspect to adults also).

Teens: lots of cool games both exclusive and multiplatform from DC Universe and The Agency, Bioshock, Fallout 3, etc.

Younger kids: Eyepet, Singstar Disney, Free Realms, etc. even LBP could entertain them, though i think it's more complicated elements are more hardcore oriented, but the 50 single player levels could have them happy.

for $400, a family would be hard pressed to avoid getting a PS3. the Wii is cute and all, but it really only appeals to one type of demographic, and doesn't have enough quality software to keep it plugged into the TV at all times.

the 360 is a good choice, but it doesn't have the Blu Ray or web browser that may appeal to an adult. and if the adult happens to be a more casual to non gamer, a game like Heavy Rain could go a long way in bringing them into the fold. the 360 doesn't have a game like that at the moment. Alan Wake doesn't even have a tentative release date (sadly. man, i'm really looking forward to that one; it was one of the main reasons why i picked up a 360. it'd be a nice compliment to Heavy Rain if it's as good as i hope it is).

the PS3 is almost a no brainer for a family that wants an HD capable device in their home.

anyway, this game is just too damn cute. between Little Big Planet and this game, Sony seems to have the lockdown on adorable characters this gen next to Nintendo.

EDIT - i also like how Sony implemented that drawing tech demo we saw last year or thereabouts, where the person drew some tanks on the board, and then proceeded to play a game like that Atari game Combat with the tanks he drew.

Nintendo gets all the credit for innovation this generation, but i've yet to see things like HOME, Eyepet (yes, i know about Nintendogs, but i'm referring more to that drawing program within Eyepet), Remote Play, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet, etc.

Those things look really scary what ever they are.

LBP will have a serious partner for Sony's push into the casual market. This game is mainly for the female audience and children. While LBP is for everyone. As usual. A fresh and innovative game from Sony. My nephew will eta this up as he can't be without his curious George teddy. Bravo Sony.

This actually looks like alot of fun something me and my lil nephew and neice can play together. The interactivity is second to none this might end up being Sony's Pokemon.

I can't wait to see the Microsoft knockoff to this one. Maybe then the Xboxloyalists will say it's fackin brilliant.

I don't ever regret buying a PS eye, you can do so many things with it, I can use it for voice chat ingame instead of a bluetooth HS, you can use it to make and edit video and post them on youtube. I just leave some of the pseye specific games playing in the background on( torimaki, mesmerize, and the trails of topiq) and my family and friends pass by the tv there like woow and start playing nonestop on it, and this game is gonna blow the kids out of the water. I like the way sony is marketing them selves. instead of flooding the market with w/e comes along and with games only few people cares for. They spread out a only handful of quality titles at a time that can appeal to a much broader varity and this titles are mostly guaranteed to generate a large sum of revenue over time that alot of will talk about, quality over quantity.

I'd prefer an Xbot as pet, like POG or PP. Maybe in a DLC later...

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
