Just multiplayer should be free. Everything else like big sales and free games will only be for Gold/Plus members.

Caedus5113743d ago

Yes, this would be the best move for MS to make considering PC gets Windows online gaming at no added cost. Truly turn XBL gold into a service rather than a requirement.

JamesBroski3743d ago

People say that, but still continue to pay for it.

SegaGamer3743d ago

I agree and have always thought the same way. No way should we be charged to play games online. We bought the damn consoles to play games on, we shouldn't have to buy subscriptions just to play those games online.

Eonjay3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

Well, Albert P said that it cost money on console because the average starting price on PC is higher. Now, while that is generally true, it is a false equivalency... paying Microsoft (or Sony) for internet access is not equal to paying for your own rig... An equivalent comparison would be paying your ISP for internet vs Microsoft or Sony but that comparison doesn't work in their favor does it. Also, his comment about getting Windows 10 on Xbox is invalid because it was free for must of the PC crowd too.

I remember back when gamers were never this spoiled and always wanted everything for free.

i also remember that when i logged onto xbox live there wasnt a service error 3-5 days a week at any given time :/ ... just saying ive been a live member for almost 11 years now... and the quality has seemingly plummeted off a cliff over the past 2.5 years with constant nagging issues

ScorpiusX3743d ago

Free mean no maintenance or resources to improve, no thanks its fine the way it is . Few hiccups no more

Eonjay3743d ago

Actually a good point. I work with a few folks who used to do work on Xbox Live and I can tell you that Xbox Live used to (at least) operate at cost. This is because Microsoft spent most of the intake into making it better.

DragonDDark3743d ago

Oh.. so you have "mates"?

neoandrew3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

It is free on pc like forever and surprise surprise, works like charm in any game...

ScorpiusX3743d ago (Edited 3743d ago )

Sorry I prefer to pay , just due to the fact that am paying for a service. giving me a right to complain of file a grievance with the better business bureau or demand a refund. Now where free no one is going to care or give a damn cause your getting it for free.

Yetter3743d ago

thats not necessarily true. There are dedicated servers you pay for on PC depending on how dedicated you are and what games you play. MMO subscriptions still exists on PC and not on console, and at least with xbox we are often getting dedicated servers for our multiplayer games

Funny how you get articles like this when Xbox Live had a bad couple of days. But PSN mosy of it's lifetime is bad yet nobody is talking about boycotting that. And worse yet it was free to begin with and they turned it payed. Nobody said anything. But as soon as Xbox live is having a bad day. Its "boycot Xbox". "Xbox Live should be free" blababla

dragon823743d ago

I have been using PSN and XBL since day one and can confirm that you are a troll.

Goldby3743d ago

funny how you are going off what xbox fanboy are saying, PSN isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is. it was down for 2 days last year, and not full days. this year we have had 1 partial day down, equivalent to XBL so they are about the same, at least from my side of the fence

FlexLuger3743d ago

"funny how you are going off what xbox fanboy are saying, PSN isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is."

"equivalent to XBL so they are about the same, at least from my side of the fence"

Oh the irony......

no...they are not the same. I had both PSN and XBL between PS4 launch and last november...PSN reminded me how much I take XBL for granted. Thats all Im gonna say...No...they are not the same. XBL is the better maintained platform.

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ915d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil914d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces

I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.

Orchard1285d ago

Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.

Crows901285d ago

Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.

Profchaos1285d ago

I had a PS2 and it's online experience was fine but it didn't have the same level of polish voice chat never worked for me but I was trying to play from Australia where not many people played PS2 online to the point where many devs simply dropped the online mode from the pal version.
That's not all PS2 games mind you there were plenty that worked perfectly but it was more on the dev and not the platform

During that era I also played a fairly large amount on online PC games and they were undoubtedly better than both systems. PS2 from functionality and Xbox because it was free

Playing my friends original Xbox it was a really polished experience it felt robust yet simple things just worked there was zero config.

Crows901285d ago (Edited 1285d ago )

Yeah but the time ps3 came the experience was the same on both based on what I played...not too much online though to be honest. But I do think that the xbox did help bring online into the console space a lot. As well as PC games to consoles.

Profchaos1285d ago (Edited 1285d ago )

Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
