Yet another unoptimized PC game.

Pandamobile3658d ago

It's a beta. This is why betas exist.

The game is Less than a month away, if you think a ton of optimization is going to be done before release you are crazy. Just start hoping for a patch now.

Pandamobile3658d ago

That's not what I'm saying.

Expect a new driver revision for this game a short while before launch.

Then DX12 to improve the highest CPU load areas typically those seen which have the most performance dips (it's not available in the beta) and the day one version to have a few more optimisations/fixes to improve performance further.

In other words, at least wait until the game is out before pulling the alarm....the PC version will still likely be the best version!

arkard3658d ago

No doubt it will be the best version, but looking at the recommended specs tells me that the vast majority of PC gamers will not be maxing this out. I'd be interested in comparison of ps4 vs med settings on pc as that is going be what the majority will be at.

Be aware the PS4 version displays considerable framerate drops in the same areas the PC version does in this beta.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Digital foundry noted in the area with high number of NPCs, PS4 dropped as low as 22FPS and was mostly below 30FPS. This means the beta is highly variable with it's uncapped framerate on PS4. No better on the most powerful console.....

I find it quite likely most PC gamers will find a reasonable balance for their hardware and have the option to cap the framerate as they so choose which will be a massive advantage, if the consoles do not offer the same option for framerate consistency.

Recommended specs rarely tell the story of a game. It shouldn't be that difficult for a reasonable PC to best the consoles.

cyril sneer3658d ago

well from the digital foundry video of the console version it didn't look very optimized either dropping down to 20fps lol.

Eonjay3658d ago

Sigh, this is exactly what I was trying to say in the last article about the PS4. The writing is on the wall folks.

Pandamobile3658d ago

Having that many NPCs on screen at once is always gonna cause performance issues.

There's like 50 fully animated NPCs walking around that party scene, which is a massive amount of data that needs to be passed around the CPU and GPU.

I'm not sure what they can really do to optimize that beyond limiting the amount of characters on screen.

It's a beta, how old is the code, maybe they've fixed the problems.

As for the graphics, nothing special. But those NPC'S are most likely causing probs.

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

Super lacklustre
