Itagaki and Team Ninja Certainly have claimed a final victim. Maybe Itagaki will become the new CEO? Doubtful, since I don't think his leather jacket and sunglasses could be worn to business meetings.

what's up with them lately? i mean everything dead or alive sucked hard, but they made ninja gaiden, gaiden black, gaiden sigma, gaiden 2.
sure itagaki left because of some money problems, but they seem to be falling apart. shame rly ninja gaiden was pretty nice =\

The Ninja Gaiden Timeline, Such as It Is | Restart

The Ninja Gaiden series has spanned nearly three decades across different creators, so of course the timeline is convoluted. But maybe Restart can simplify it enough to get you going in Ragebound and Ninja Gaiden IV without much trouble.

Love the NES trilogy! Great gameplay, design, story, cinematics, characters, music! Total package.

The original NES game is still.one of the hardest games I've almost beaten in my life I believe I was on the second final boss using original hardware and carts no save states but I could never finish it

Man, I finally braved trying Master Ninja in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and… man, I suck, lol. I really want to try for the platinum because I love the game so much, but yeesh…

Tacoboto473d ago

I remember Ninja Gaiden Black and how awesome the hype and support was around for that. The changes from the base game and the world rankings we could check out in the menus. Played through the OG game once and Black at least twice.

Never played the original 2D games but I'm excited to go through 2 Black soon.

I was there as a young boy playing the first Ninja Gaiden in The arcade. It was awesome for the time! I’ve played every one skins and on every one of those systems. And here I am, as a 50 year old man giddy with joy playing through the most recent release, with more on the way! Heck yeah it’s a great series!

Ninja Gaiden Black Was The Original Dark Souls

Decades later and this action classic is still hard as nails.

Um… what!? They don’t play the same, like at all. If we’re only talking about difficulty then Ninja Gaiden is on a whole other level.

Sonic1881475d ago (Edited 475d ago )

Especially the first game. Even the game on Nintendo in 1988 was hard from what my older brother said 😂

Popsicle474d ago

@Sonic your brother is correct. Despite so many tries I never beat the 1988 version on the original hardware. I only beat it many years later via emulation with save states. There was a late game jump in a mine with multiple flying bats that would make me fall to my death every time. Since it was “Nintendo” hard and game over meant back to level one, it made it that single jump exceptionally stressful.

I picked up NG for OG Xbox in 2004. It was a very difficult game (which made it really fun for me), but I was able to beat it in a relatively short period of time.

To this day I don’t think I could beat the NES version without save states no matter how hard I tried.

I think they just meant in terms of being known for their extreme difficulty compared to their peers. "Oh, you wanna be tested? Go play Ninja Gaiden Black/Dark Souls!"

Angyobangyo474d ago

They meant by being unforgiving and hard as nails, not mechanics or genre. When a game tester said to Itagaki that his game was too difficult, he simply decided to make it even more difficult.

The_Hooligan474d ago

True and the camera angles in NG games could have been much better.

Popsicle474d ago (Edited 474d ago )

The bad camera controls that increased difficulty were not a problem, but a feature when it came to NG. Lol!

I think Demon's Souls was the original "Dark Souls" or Kings Field even. Ninja Gaiden is a totally different style of game. And if we're being honest here, it borrowed heavily from Onimusha and Devil May Cry at the time.

Popsicle474d ago

I had a ton of fun with Onimusha, but if we are discussing difficulty only, Onimusha was a breeze when compared to NG.

jznrpg474d ago

Difficulty of is part of the games but that doesn’t make it like Souls games. Gameplay is much different so no

Inverno474d ago

Actually… the OG is King's Field. The Souls games aren't about the difficulty and From has pretty much been working on the formula since 1994
