Why is Nintendo Being Silent About Star Fox Zero?

With what feels like an eight-month dry spell without any new major information about it, and with a mere two month's until the game's release, is there a reason why Nintendo isn't saying much about Star Fox Zero? Should we be worried, or should we be hyped?

Because they are releasing it on Wii U and the NX

DarkOcelet3746d ago

That doesn't mean they should be silent about the Wii U version.

They should Market the game more.

Relientk773746d ago

Nintendo will stay silent until they unveil the NX this year

SteamPowered3746d ago

Being silent about the Wii U in general is what attributed to their poor start. I literally had to explain to my brother on Sunday that the Wii U was not a Wii add-on. This just shouldnt happen a few years into their life cycle.

Nintendo needs to spread the word far and wide. Or everyone will just hold off on any purchase until the NX or whatever drops. They should hit the mountaintop and shout out that Star Fox and hopefully Zelda is still coming for Wii U. And if its not for Wii U, they better have it in the wings as a launch title, because the Wii U did not have a strong flight of games upon launch.

freshslicepizza3745d ago

development is obviously shifting over to the nx and any games in development are going to be considered for cross platform.

MetroidFREAK213746d ago (Edited 3746d ago )

And I would be okay with that

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3745d ago

I guess Metroid Prime: Federation Force is releasing on NX as well then.

pcz3745d ago

A member of platinum studio was drunk at the office and accidentally deleted the entire project.

the game is gone.

nintendo have to start from scratch

Didn't they release an updated trailer around December? Fans did not react well to the E3 build of the game. That being said, having ZERO news since and getting this close to release, we could be looking at a delay.

I'm hoping it releases on schedule but it's really hard to predict what Nintendo is up to these days.

rjason123746d ago

Damn, you can't go into a single piece of Nintendo news without people talking about the NX. Maybe I should go into Microsoft and Sony news articles and just talk about how I can't wait for so and so to get released on the PS5 and XboxTwo.

wonderfulmonkeyman3746d ago

I know, right?
Hopefully they'll both stop ignoring the importance of native BC and free online multiplayer, and use their paywalls for other things that will still be important without blocking off key features.
I'd get both systems if they could pull that off.

LOL_WUT3745d ago (Edited 3745d ago )

That's because it was Nintendo who told us about the NX in the first place. Also, it isn't hard to imagine that the system could be released within this year unlike the X1 and PS5. ;)

Edit: basically what red said down below ;)

gangsta_red3746d ago

I think it's because the NX is not only confirmed to be coming but it's damn near right around the corner, unlike the PS5 and Xbox Two.

wonderfulmonkeyman3746d ago (Edited 3746d ago )

That's like saying no one expected Nintendo to follow up the Wii U with anything after nearly 5 years of the Wii U being on the market, though.

It's just plain silly, that's what it is.

People are taking Nintendo's intention of mentioning the NX early in an effort to curb rumors of them dropping out of consoles, as an excuse to just dump on the Wii U left and right and accuse Nintendo of system abandonment, when the truth is that it's coming out around the same time Nintendo's home consoles almost always have.

rjason123745d ago

Only reason why it's confirmed so early is so that people wouldn't think that they were exiting hardware due to making a mobile game. They've stated multiple times before that they start their next hardware as soon as they get their current one out.

DDMNeo3746d ago (Edited 3746d ago )

I really hate when people try and talk about future xbox systems by using the current naming convention they're using. "Next Xbox" is more likely than "Xbox Two." Honestly, you think people would have learned after thinking this gen's Xbox would be the 720?

Also maybe it's because Nintendo has done this stuff before, and it's highly likely to be the case. Especially since the NX is most likely going to be out in the fall, unlike Sony and MS's next systems.

rjason123745d ago

It's def not going to be out until at least next year. You talk about others "seeing into the future" and then you "see into the future"

DDMNeo3745d ago

It's already been leaked that it's going into production at Foxconn in Q2 of this year. That would easily get them a good chunk of systems by the fall. There's also 3rd party devs that have said they've had dev kits for a while now, and some partners have been silent for years now. If you don't think that the system will be out this year you're oblivious to all the signs.

rjason123745d ago

Thats called a rumor, why does everyone on this site take rumor as fact? I'm gonna start a new rumor! I heard from my cousins best friends sisters moms boyfriend that Nintendos new console will be 5-10x more powerful than ps4, with similar online but free! And it's gonna launch with all 3rd parties big games and nintendos biggest franchises!

DDMNeo3745d ago (Edited 3745d ago )

Because the sources saying this stuff are actually credible. It doesn't make it 100%, but when you have multiple sources from manufacturers to developers saying things like this it becomes more likely to be true. Also, there's a thing called a pattern. History tends to repeat itself, and especially so with corporate entities like Nintendo. When a company goes silent on new 1st party games it usually means that something is in the works. Usually a new system. Since we know there is indeed a new system on the way it's safe to assume that the system will be out relatively soon. Add this to the rumors of manufacturer contracts being signed, devs saying they've had dev kits for some time, and even publishers announcing games for the system. We can't know for sure, but the writing is on the wall. If you can't see it that's on you. I think the only thing lacking more logic than your last response is me trying to explain how this stuff works to a child (or at the very least a man child).

Personally I cant wait for them to shake off the Wii U and refocus on the future. Not because I think the Wii U is terrible, but I want Nintendo to return to form, and the NX is the biggest chance Nintendo has of getting back on the board. The Wii U was not a popular console Im afraid. So for old-school Nintendites like myself, Im really pulling for Nintendo to knock this out of the park.

There are rumors this game may receive another delay

wonderfulmonkeyman3746d ago

Because it's not ready to be talked about again.
Duh.
When it's ready, they'll talk about it.
That's always been Nintendo's way.

LOL_WUT3745d ago

Zelda U wasn't ready to be talked about either so what's your point? Rumor has it the game will eventually find it's way towards the NX ;)

Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

It's a good ponder. Nintendo would be stupid to not do it. The more titles and first party line up released on the Switch 2 the more enticed the customer will be.

Star Fox Zero, Was it Really That Bad?

Has time been kind to Star Fox Zero? Does the game have any redeeming qualities that are worthy of revisiting? Should it be considered for a port to the Switch? Was it really that bad?

Haven't played it since it came out, but I really enjoyed it. Can't tell if that's just nostalgia-tinted glasses, or if I actually consider it a good game though lol.

Vits1663d ago

It's a mediocre game that reuses ideas, scenarios, characters and moments from previous ones. Paired with one of the worst control methods that I had the displeasure of using.

CptDville1662d ago

Those controls. Boring and frustrating at the same time. Only with co-op they were bearable, but co-op was restricted to finished levels.

SeTTriP1662d ago

Yes couldn't finish it it was so boring.

MissAubrey1662d ago

controls made me stop playing also what good is a 65inch tv when you have to look at a tiny Wiiu tablet.. same with kirby & the rainbow curse..

Einhander19711662d ago

No it was great, just the control scheme spoilt things really. The wii u screen was not needed for it really

I’d rather Star Fox Assault be brought to Switch with online multiplayer instead

Teflon021712d ago

Finally, someone who knows about Assault. Best Star Fox Multi-player imo.

Neonridr1712d ago

or a Star Fox 64 remaster instead.

deadfrag1712d ago

Platinum Games wants to many things but sadly it does not show nothing new for years! They try to jump on all offers but end finishing none!

whitbyfox1712d ago

1: Get rid of the motion controls.

2: Bring us Okami 3.

Good-Smurf1712d ago (Edited 1712d ago )

I rather have them show more of Bayonetta 3 first before they talking about any new project.
This reeks Inafune's funding for Red Ash and Mighty No.9 animated series, both never materialized.
